I live in Slidell, Louisiana, about 30 miles north of New Orleans. I subscribe to the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper. There has been absolutely NO negative press, or imput from fans, media, or anyone else down here about the Saints. Everyone is VERY happy, proud and excited about our Saints winning the NFC Championship and FINALLY going to their first Super Bowl.

As far as our fans being "over excited"? Give me a break! Doesn't the fans of both teams that go to the Super Bowl each year get SO excited, and so happy they cannot contain it? There has been so much bad press lately about the Saints in the media. I'm just sick of it! :monkey4 Especially from the football broadcast media. I watch N.F.L. Network, and they're okay for the most part. But, I won't even watch ESPN anymore. Now..the N.F.L. going after the "WHO DAT" phrase? :horror They didn't care one bit when we chanted "WHO DAT" back in the 1980s when fans starting saying it in the Superdome. Back then most seasons were losing seasons for the Saints...the N.F.L. could care less! Now that they've had a great winning season, they've jumped on it!

The N.F.L.'s greed is really showing now. So now they're sending out "cease and desist" letters to small shop owners down here that print out t-shirts that say "WHO DAT" on them with a gold fleur-de-lis? Yeah, the phrase makes people think of the Saints, but it is not a copyrighted or trademarked phrase owned by the N.F.L.! This shows me that the N.F.L. wants a "piece of the pie" of the booming Saints merchandise that is selling like crazy now.

I am not sure if this is in response to the comments that I have made. But if so, allow me to clarify.

I am just giving a hard time to the one or two fans who have spent the entire NFL season on this very thread running the Saints into the ground by voicing very strong doubt about the team even at the point where they were undefeated well into the latter half of the season.

The Saints have pretty much had their foot on the throats of their opponents (save the last few games) all season. Even I am proud of them (from a distance...I am, and always will be, a die-hard Steeler fan) for having a season like this after so much adversity for pretty much the entire life of the team.

Honestly, for the next week I'm going to stand behind my team like a fan of a normal team would. They have earned that much by getting this far, and I am proud of what they did. They defied my expectations, and though it is still hard to believe that it happened, they are one game away from winning the NFL championship. I won't say that I'm optimistic about their chances, but I do think that they have a "puncher's chance."

Yeah, it's great getting the paper here! Especially this week! The Monday edition this week is already a collector's item! They had to reprint it on Tuesday! Here's some pictures from it...

The front page of the Times-Picayune from this Monday, January 25...

Here's the cover of an upcoming hardcover book I pre-ordered that will be called "Super Saints!". It is going to have 160 pages of full-color pictures from all of this season's games including 12 pages from the Super Bowl! Plus editorial columns from the Times-Picayune staff. The cover shows QB Drew Bress pumping his fist after throwing a touchdown pass.

If you want to order this book, or poster prints of the Monday paper front page, or a poster of the Sports section front page...go here....

This has been a season I will NEVER forget! Thank you SO much Saints! :D You WILL win the Super Bowl!

Oh yeah! Here's one more. The cover from the newest issue of Sports Illustrated that I got today! The cover reads "WHO DAT! Saints Strut to Their First Super Bowl".

So now N.F.L. do you want to try and sue Sports Illustrated for putting "WHO DAT" on the cover?

My sister lives in Slidell, and I actually got her to pick up a copy of that paper for my mom, who now lives in Alabama. Didn't know about the book, but I'll definitely pick it up. Will also get the front page print if they win the Super Bowl. I hope they release DVDs of their playoff games and the Super Bowl. I saw they had their "best" regular season games on a DVD at Wherehouse Music. I wonder if they have the Jim Henderson/Hokie commentary. . .probably not, unfortunately.

I bought that best games of the season DVD from my work here at Best Buy. I haven't watched it yet. I have a feeling it will have the commentary from the TV broadcast teams on it. It has three games on it. The Dolphins, Falcons, and Patriots games. It is one game per DVD in a 3 DVD set. It sells at the NFL Shop website for $26.99.

I saw on NFL Shop that there is already a DVD for the N.F.C. Championship game selling for $19.99.

Yeah, karamazov I would LOVE to see that these DVDs had Jim Henderson's great commentary on them from WWL radio, but I have a feeling that they won't. They're the original TV broadcast games, including the audio from the TV booth.

They will release an official Super Bowl DVD from N.F.L. Films. They do every year for every Super Bowl. I know I'll be buying it this year!

My family was able to get me a t-shirt and copies of the Advertiser and the Advocate. Couldn't get the Times Picayune, but that's okay. I'll frame what I've gotten and when the Saints win the SuperBowl I'll get paper copies of that too. :D

I'll say that I'm thrilled about the Saints finally making it to the big game. Sure I've had doubts throughout the season only because history has shown fans that no matter how good the Saints are or can be, they find a way to screw it up. One minute you are cheering them on and the next minute you are cursing them like a sailor. :lol But it's all out of love because you want them so badly to play so well...for them to finally get their break.

This is the best year I've ever seen the Saints have. And I'm not talking about records. I'm talking a smart head coach and a smart quarterback. I'm talking about camaraderie between teammates and the coaching staff, a quarterback who clicks with the rest of the team, and players who understand the meaning of teamwork. So many times in the past I've seen the team fall apart because of divisiveness among players and the coaching staff. And the team relying on one person to get the job done (Morten Andersen for the win anyone?) This year it's different. This team is a winner because each unit does its part to win games. They've all played their heart out to get where they are today and I couldn't be more proud of that.

You can go on the Advocate's website and order prints of the pages that are great for framing. That's where I got my LSU National Championship ones that I have framed.

EDIT: Oops, they don't have anything for the Saints right now.

hmmmm colts or saints.....I hope the saints win :D honest to God question Have the saints ever been to the superbowl? if so i dont remember it

No the Saints have never been to a Super Bowl. This will be their first.

Now only 4 teams are on the list of non-SB teams:
Detroit
Cleveland
Jacksonville
Houston Texans

Probably because the Saints are a New Orleans team and LSU is a Baton Rouge-based team. Of course, you see the LSU baseball championship front pages framed in various eating establishments in town here.

thats pretty amazing. baseball is probably like 10+ teams never in the WS.

That's true karamazov. Especially at a great BBQ ribs restaurant in Baton Rouge called "TJ Ribs". There's a ton of L.S.U. stuff. They even have Shaquille O'Neil's huge basketball shoes. :horror :D

So then the Times-Picayune website is the better choice for Saints stuff. Today I picked up the official Super Bowl 44 program book, and a great Saints 2009 season magazine at Walmart. Karamazov check out your Walmarts in B.R. for these books if you want them.

I agree completely with you choopie. For the first time the Saints are going to the Super Bowl, and it is because of many things. The team of great players, great coaches, and a great fan base! The "Who Dat Nation" is VERY proud of them! It is our right to say "WHO DAT" and the N.F.L. cannot take that away from us. They DO NOT own it. Back to the Saints YES they do have great camaraderie and respect between each other and their coaches. It shows. Off the field and on the field. Drew Brees and many other players and coaches have done so much for the community off of the field. You can see they truly care for the city and region they represent. :D

It's not about one selfish player on the Saints team. Look at how much Drew Brees spread the ball out to so many different receivers and backs. This team is about teamwork, not about one star player in the "limelight".

Yeah, my family is sending me the 2009 season commemorative publication they picked up at Wal-mart. Although my mom mentioned it was a book and not a magazine. Maybe there are two versions?

Is the SuperBowl program book the one you can order off the Times Picayune Web site or is that something different? What other championship memorabilia have you seen down there?

Hi choopie. The Saints 2009 NFL season book is not a hardcover book. It is a magazine. It is not an "officiall" NFL publication, but still very nice. It has many color pictures in it from all of the games this season, including the last game. The NFC Championship against the Vikings. It is about $7.20. If you want me to pick one up for you, please send me a PM here, and you can send me a Paypal payment. I guess these magazines are being sold only at New Orleans area Walmarts.

Oh, I see that your parents got one for you. That's cool. Anyone else that wants one, send me a PM and we can work out payment through Paypal. There is not two different versions of this 2009 season magazine. Only one version. Walmart is now selling the official Super Bowl 44 program book. I got one of those too, and it is softcover, and features lots of info on both the Saints and Colts. Great book for less than $20.00. :D

The official Super Bowl 44 program book is also sold at their official website at www.superbowl.com with a "hologram" cover for $20.00. They also sell them at the NFL Pro Shop at www.nfl.com.

There's just not much left to talk about. Greg Williams wants the Saints to beat up Manning until he stays down, Saints and Colts players are required to stand on the sideline for the Pro Bowl for some reason, Jeremy Shockey wants to play in the Super Bowl, Dwight Freeney hasn't been practicing. . .
