I've got it on in the background. Guys aren't trying very hard, and rightfully so. The whole concept is pretty dumb to me. At least it doesn't mean anything (like the MLB All-Star Game).

Does anyone know if the guys who declined to play (Philip Rivers and others) were "forced" to show up anyway, like the Saints and Colts guys?

Me too. I am good with watching the Pro Bowl.

I was thinking about the Superbowl. And I was thinking about how much hyperbole (maybe we should call it the Hyper Bowl or Hyper Bowly, depending on your pronunciation) goes on for the week prior. And I think they should be concentrating on the game. I think I would like to see the whole NFL Experience thing go the week after the Superbowl and have players from non-Superbowl teams there as well for fan meet-n-greets. Then they could have the Pro Bowl after that.

Yeah, but the NFL is all about making as much money as possible, and after the hype from the Super Bowl is gone, the hype for the NFL generally is gone until the next year.

Pretty soon they'll probably stick this in the middle of the season like you see in MLB and NBA. That way, you get people to watch when people are still interested, but whe there aren't the extra distractions of the championship game coming up.

Drawback is, even fewer people will show up to play because injuries at that point would be too costly, and everyone would be using the week to rest up. But if the NFL dictates it, they can at least force players to show up and play at 1/3 speed or to stand on the sidelines. Not that they're doing much more than that here.

Thanks for the info. JediMike. Sounds like there are two publications you can buy at Wal-mart, so now I have no idea which one I'm getting. :lol I guess I'll find out in a few days when I receive it in the mail.

Hi choopie. The Saints 2009 NFL season book is not a hardcover book. It is a magazine. It is not an "officiall" NFL publication, but still very nice. It has many color pictures in it from all of the games this season, including the last game. The NFC Championship against the Vikings. It is about $7.20. If you want me to pick one up for you, please send me a PM here, and you can send me a Paypal payment. I guess these magazines are being sold only at New Orleans area Walmarts.

Oh, I see that your parents got one for you. That's cool. Anyone else that wants one, send me a PM and we can work out payment through Paypal. There is not two different versions of this 2009 season magazine. Only one version. Walmart is now selling the official Super Bowl 44 program book. I got one of those too, and it is softcover, and features lots of info on both the Saints and Colts. Great book for less than $20.00. :D

The official Super Bowl 44 program book is also sold at their official website at www.superbowl.com with a "hologram" cover for $20.00. They also sell them at the NFL Pro Shop at www.nfl.com.

Rivers wasn't there because his wife had a baby, don't know about the rest. :dunno

The commentators were talking about some players and their lack of enthusiasm, particularly Adrian Peterson; it seems those fumbles really did a number on his mind. :google

I don't post in this thread regularly, but I've been thinking about this during the season. I bring it up because Jon Gruden mentioned it during the Pro Bowl broadcast last night, and Sports Illustrated’s Peter King has written about it several times in his Monday Morning Quarterback column: both men have said that Adrian Peterson has the strongest handshake of any football player they’ve ever met, to the point of it being crushing. I’ve wondered why Peterson fumbles so much, if his grip is that strong. Just carelessness on his part I guess. Tiki Barber solved his fumbleitis, hopefully Peterson will solve his.

Also, if Dwight Freeney ends up not playing (latest reports are that he has a torn ligament in his ankle) that’s a HUGE plus for the Saints. Freeney can embarrass an all pro, but New Orleans left tackle Jermon Bushrod is a liability against All Pro ends. Demarcus Ware abused him to end the Saints unbeaten streak, and I’m surprised Jared Allen wasn’t able to get to Brees more during the NFC championship game.

Yeah, I heard about that during the Pro Bowl. Definitely a justifiable reason for not showing up :lol

But all I heard was guys not wanting to play because they were healing from injuries or other reasons, and they weren't there at all. Brett Favre wasn't at the game that I saw. Neither was Tom Brady. Pro Bowl is such a joke, though. Really. Who cares? Let them meet the fans, maybe play a flag-football type thing with celebrities, but don't pretend you are playing a real game when you aren't.

Strange that a couple seasons ago Brees got hurt when some a$$hole pretended he was playing a real game, though.

Clearly, AP is a beast. It must be more his manner of holding the ball than strength causing these issues.

One of my favorite players used to be Garrison Hearst. In 1995 he had 12 fumbles. The next 7 years he had a total of just 14 more. I don't know if he changed something or what but it can be done.

once you get a reputation as a fumbler it just gets worse because then every defender is trying to rip or punch it out on you.

In honor of the Super Bowl....I wanted to share a couple shirt designs I made for work! They're already selling in stores!!! So go grab one!!

Very cool. I think I might have seen the second one! Saints helmet should be smashing Colts helmet to pieces, though. Would be more believable.

HELL YEAH!! GEAUX SAINTS!!!

But I do what higher ups ask for.
I think they are printing these on black and on gray.

Great designs! I like the second one. I'll have to look for it. Seeing the Saints helmet on the SuperBowl shirts brings a tear to my eye. It's finally sinking in that they are going to the big game. Lord help us all if they win. :)

GEAUX SAINTS!!

I am niether a Saints, nor a Colts fan. But I am going to buy one of them just because you designed it, Bam!

This isn't breaking news or anything new but Joey Porter is an idiot.

He proved that the day he left the Steelers.

Edit - But I do not think he is stupid for wanting to play or be cut by the Dolphins. If there was more to it, I'd say he is just perpetuating his stupidity. But he was one of the very best OLB's to play the game when he was a Steeler. In 2006, Sports Illustrated called him "The most feared man in football".And I have to wonder if it wasn't the coaches not knowing how to use him in Miami.

I would say that the Saints would take him (since we need all the defensive help we can get), but I think it has done our team good not to have douchebags on our team, even gifted ones. Donte' Stallworth didn't show up/come to practice on time on a few occassions, and Payton gave him the boot. No T.O.s, Ocho Cincos, Joey Porters, Randy Moss's, or Albert Haynesworths on our team. Closest we probably have is Shockey, but he has acted reasonably professionally since being with the Saints.

I bought that best games of the season DVD from my work here at Best Buy. I haven't watched it yet. I have a feeling it will have the commentary from the TV broadcast teams on it. It has three games on it. The Dolphins, Falcons, and Patriots games. It is one game per DVD in a 3 DVD set. It sells at the NFL Shop website for $26.99.
