I always love seeing the Cowboys lose.
I know things can get heated in this thread, but throughout this year, I hope we can all remember that we are united in our hatred of that stupid team with their stupid owner, stupid coaches, stupid QB, etc. etc.
I do wish the Saints had Miles Austin, though. . .that guy is a beast.
I dont know every year lots of players dont take the money. I dont see how you can compare putting players in nicer dorms, giving them tutors and letting them print stuff compares to what Bush did. I dont think the NCAA was on their high horse they did what they are supossed to do. I really sounds like you are pissed the players had a better dorm and a tutor more then anythingI agree, but my point is that it is a matter of degree, and the NCAA come across as hypocritical when they get on their high horse about USC/Bush but look the other way when lesser versions of the same behavior go on all the time. Of course, as I think we both agree, the point was more making a big statement than a real attempt to punish Bush because he deserved it.
As for blaming Bush, how many college football players would act differently from him in that situation? Some, sure. But I bet most would have a hard time turning those gifts down when the entire culture involves getting preferential treatment and feeling that you are deserving of it all. And frankly, based on the money guys like Bush bring to big-time colleges, I'm not so sure that they don't deserve what they are offered. But that's a whole other issue.

No, I'm not pissed. In a way, I think they deserve it because of the revenue they bring to the school (mostly indirect through student enrollment and alumni donations). But I just don't think the line in the sand is as bright as you seem to think. The NCAA makes rules so that it appears to be ensuring fairness. But there is no real fairness here to begin with. It's like saying that a contribution to a politician's charity of choice isn't unethical but giving him a vacation to an exotic country is. These differ only in degree of wrongness.I dont know every year lots of players dont take the money. EXCEPT, the damn BEARS should have lost as well.
Actually, I think "Brittle" Bob Sanders needs to undergo the adamantium fusion procedure so he can at least make it through one freaking game! The Colts need to release his broke @$$ and concentrate on players who make it through multiple games in a season.
I would put things in perspective Rich. It is just one game. There are ebbs and flows to every season. As for having 15 years since the last good season, I can relate It does get frustrating. Just hope you don't become scarred like I did. I'm still not all that optimistic about the Saints, despite last year. The Niners looked absolutely terrible. I was so damn optimistic just a few days ago! Defense looked good and deep, we had weapons on offense, Alex Smith was looking confident and the o-line looked better.... Same old crap though. They dominated the first quarter and a half but as soon as they faced a bit of adversity they just FOLDED.... Bottom line is this, they won only two games on the road last year and if they can't improve on that they'll suck again this year.... The best part about being a Niner fan is at least 15 years in the past, and I'm tired of it.
when's the last time he played a whole season?

I'm trying to look at it like that. Playing the Saints next week has me worried about an 0-2 start though... I was amazed at how the Seahawks took advantage of our defensive tendencies though. Double move routes from their wide-outs had us biting every time.... And Michael Crabtree sucked.... Straight up sucked.
I'm really trying to not be overly negative about the whole thing but for the Niners to perform so badly it has me worried that any and all optimism was unwarranted.
Did Westbrook get any touches?
He didn't even play, but to be honest if he got into the game in the second half I might have missed it since I flipped over the the Giants/Padres game, but I think he didn't even suit up. From what I understand Westbrook says he's 100% but Jimmy Raye, our o-coordinator, says Westbrook isn't in game shape yet.... We pounded Gore up the middle over and over again. Remember Tecmo Bowl? It was as if we only had one play to choose from instead of four.
Anyway, I'm hoping for Westbrook in week 2.
WOW! LOL! Someone with a mouth like yours surely doesn't think they can actually call anyone else in this world out for their wrong doings?
Maybe you should save that holiday language for your family.
Now on to football. My week one thoughts:
Holy shat!
Colts Lose
Skins win against Dallas
Pats killed the Bengals
Rule needs changed in the endzone during a catch
This VASith is a total ****** bag
Vick played like the player of old
This will probably be a VERY tight season in all divisions. I can't wait for tonight! Jets and Ravens should make for a good football game. Who would have thought the Jets would go from being a joke to one of the elite teams?
LOL...are we watching week one or did I miss the season and we are on week 17 and the Jets have already clinched homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
