I like the guy. :lol

He's had some quotes that crack me up, but the arrogance just seems over the top.... Remember when Eric Mangini was the second coming of Lombardi for a season when he was in New York? Just seems like the NY press over-hypes anyone and everyone that has even a shred of success with the Jets.

I'd say he has more then a shred. He completely turned them around in a very short time. I think his arrogance is a little over the top but I like that. So long as you can back it up a little that is. He had his team convinced last year that they were going to the big game. No one believed they would and of course they didn't. However, look how far they got.

Something about Ryan's general sloppiness turns what could be considered arrogance into almost endearing confidence.

But that's going to happen with anything in the NY media. You're either a savior or the worst thing to happen to NY sports. Either way, the NY Post will make pun headlines about you.

I never let the hype bother me one way or the other...to me...it is the exact same trash-talking that some of us fans find to be fun...just on a bigger scale.

My own desires for football are simple:

1) No criminals glorified on the gridiron

2) Steelers win

3) Players on my fantasy team all have break-out games every week.

4) Cowboys and Raiders lose, (which makes it very hard to come to terms with when they play each other) even if I have any of their players on my fantasy team and they have breakout games.

5) All other teams play good football when I watch them.

See? I don't ask for much.

There was a TON of talent there when he arrived though. Lots of players on the defensive side at all levels, a dominant o-line in the making as well. To his credit, he went with those strengths and had success.... I'm not saying the coaching job wasn't very good, it was, but all these pundits predicting a Super Bowl appearance this year just seems over the top.... They were only 9-7 last year, playoff run or not.

Yeah, it has more to do with the fact that they're in NY than anything. If this was the Jacksonville Jaguars no one would even notice.

The line in bold is an absolute must! That's why I was let down during the Steelers game yesterday. But at least they won for you! :rock

Regrettably, being on the West coast and not having NFL Sunday ticket this year precluded my being able to see the game. I have read mixed opinions on whether it was a good defensive game or a poor offensive one. Sounds largely to me like it might have been a mixture of the two.

But evenly-matched poor showings, to me, are better than blow-outs. That one score at the end of the game that decides the winner is more exciting to me than one team getting ahead by 3 touchdowns before the half and coasting through the second half while extending the lead by two TDs to win the game (once again...unless those scoring the points are on my fantasy team:)).

I can't imagine how I would have been crapping all over myself if I had been watching RM running 50 yards down the field in overtime to get the win.

Honestly I fell asleep during the game I was that bored. :lol

But said play was awesome and I was very thankful they scored quickly. It was holding up the switch to the Eagles game. :rotfl

I'm late to watching the results of the games, can someone tell me what was up with the Detroit TD at the end? Why wasn't it a TD? Does this mean that all those plays with guys diving across the endzone with the ball in 1 hand and the ball hits the ground and goes loose thats not a TD? Is it a fumble then?

No, if you have possession of the football and the ball crosses the line it's a touchdown, even if someone knocks it out right after.

What happened with Calvin Johnson falls under the new interpretation of the rules for catching a TD pass. You have to catch the ball and hold onto the ball till the play is over. Apparently, though he catches the ball, he does not complete the entire "process" of the catch, meaning he catches it, comes down in bounds and holds onto it till the play is over.

So help me God this is the kind of crap that makes the NFL weak IMO. I love the league but why is it that so many rules change each and every year? I just don't see why everything needs to be tweaked all the time. The league wants offense when defenses seem to be dominant then they'll, for example, twist the rules to give offenses an advantage. Point scoring goes up and the NFL hopes viewership does too. They do it all the time.... It just sucks for the sake of continuity.

Wow the Jets had the worst looking offense I have seen in a long time. Baltimore tried to lose the game with mistakes but the Jets couldnt do a single thing with the ball. The funniest play was the 4-10 at end of game , we will be seeing that again on "come on man"

That had to one of the worst professional football games I've ever seen and I watched the early 90s Patriots faithfully.

These were the sexy picks for the AFC?:lol

With the Ravens D and a few less dumb mistakes they look like they can do something but the Jets yeah not so much unless there D can outscore the other team.

Wow ... those teams were both just terrible. That game made me feel a lot better about Pittsburgh's 4 game stretch without Ben, seeing as how they play Baltimore in week 4. 3-1 is looking like a definite possibility now:yess::yess::yess:
