So until a Cam got talk about breaking that you could have told me who had that record before? I already forgot who had it before :lol.

If you had asked before I would have guessed Vick.

That's what I assumed as well, but I just looked it up and it was a 35 year old record set by New England QB Steve Grogan that Newton Broke. Wow!

Yeah that's the guys name:rotfl.

I think it just shows how of an obscure record it is.

I wonder how many know who holds the rushing record for a season let alone the record by a QB.

The hype all occurs at the moment the record is broken, but going forward and into the future its the last HR or TD that has the most importance when its all said and done. The problem as you elude to is knowing which one will be the last one until it happens and the new number is set in stone.

It's not well known because QBs who rush effectively are a rare breed. We only know all those passing records because we have so many great traditional QBs threatening to break, or actually breaking records previously set. So, it's only obscure in the sense that Newton is so unusual as to be in a real class by himself and is breaking a record that no one else could break, unlike the Peyton Manning/Tom Brady/Kurt Warner/Drew Brees/Aaron Rodgers crew we have had recently--a crew that will no doubt expand in size over the next 5 years or so.

Probably because the guy who set the rushing record, not held by a QB, is a bum now, and the guy whose record he broke is even more of a bum.

Tough break bud. Glad to see you display being a true fan versus a lot of the fair weather fans pro sports brings in. Makes it all that much sweeter when they come up big knowing you were there the whole ride. They got potential, they just need a real leader to step up and bring that all together. I think that's what they're truly missing.

Thanks! I have been a fan of this team since the early ninetys. Winning a Superbowl would be sweet. As for the leadership, I think Fitzy should be the one to step up. Then again, the team might not take him seriously. I mean when he was doing an interview with Jim Rome, he was wearing a TMNT t-shirt...LOL!!! What a guy!

That's kinda odd seeing as he played at an ivy league school, but you gotta love the guy's taste in retro cartoons :lol

Tattoos like that are stupid. How will he feel if Denver comes to the conclusion that Tebow is not their guy and cuts or trades him...

I am really looking forward to watching the Steelers play, tonight. The only bad thing is that now it is a long week before I get to watch them again.

I remember watching that game rooting for the Packers because I didn't think the Giants could beat the Pats in the Super Bowl. That was a damn good game, though. Such a shame that Favre ended his career as a Packer on that INT in OT to lose that game. That was the beginning of the Favre shenanigans that plagued the League for 4 years.

Favre will be remembered for INTs in 2 NFC Championship games....

1. Against the Giants.

2. Against the Saints.

I love Gruden and his over the top praise of whatever team they're covering. "This guy! Philip Rivers, I'm telling yah Jaws he's the best QB going in the AFC!!" Sounds like Jonny boy is looking for a possible job most of the time.

:lol:lol

His over the top slurping is obnoxious. :lol

Did anyone buy a piece of the Packers today? I am SOOOOOO tempted to get a share just so I can say I am a team owner.

You're not serious are you? This is like that "Star Registry" crap. It's worthless. You'd be literally throwing away $250.

Is anyone else not impressed with Frazier coaching for the Vikings. I mean i know it's his first year, but 2-10? And the worst record in vikes history? (so far)

I think it's hard to judge a coach after a single year, no matter what the record is. After the 2nd year is up, you can get a better feel for his ability (or inability) to adapt to the roster he's been given, to work with the GM and ownership to bring in talent he can coach and that fits into his system, etc.

I haven't been paying much attention to the Vikes for obvious reasons, but I think the issue of being forced to deal with a washed-up has-been QB and then moving to a rookie with no pro experience must have played a huge role. Hard to win in today's NFL without a solid QB unless you have a seriously good defense and offensive line to allow the running game to take over late in games.

I agree.

:)

Could be a blessing disguise getting Ponder to play most of the season rather than Mcnabb. 1 Season under his belt and a better shot at it next year. (guy is smart i'll give him that)
