A month ago I liked the Broncos chances against the Steelers. Now, not so much. I am thinking we get killed 27-7. I don't want to put Tebow's career on this one game, but I'm starting to lean that way. Whether teams have figured him out, or the coaches are not calling the right plays, or Tebow simply lost his magic, I'm no longer sold. I still think there are a lot of gaping holes on the team that need to be addressed along with the QB, though.

Yeah, I agree that Brees and coach Payton did help to revitalize the franchise. After the dreary years of mostly losing under Jim Haslett, and the backfiring return to coaching of Mike Ditka! I'll never forget him dumping the whole draft on the loopy at the time Rickey Williams! :horror
Ditka also thought Heath Schuler was the next Saints answer to a winning QB, and he quickly got injured. Anyway...

Yeah, Benson need to pay up for the outstanding offensive line that has protected Drew very well for the past 5 years. Some new faces in it, but some older vets still doing the job well.
I give serious props to Haslett. He gave the Saints their first ever playoff win, and that's big time. I don't think he was great, but the Saints had some pretty good teams during that time.

Ditka. . .ugh, the less said, the better.

"I think Brian will be a head coach in this league," Ryan said.

What exacly has Schottenheimer done as OC for the Jets to have teams (Jacksonville at the head of the line) even remotely interested?

:slap
Well he, uh, had a pretty good coach for a father. And for some inexplicable reason, NFL owners/GMs tend to go after sons of good/great coaches as if it is a genetic predisposition. How else do you explain Jim Mora, Jr. and Lane Kiffin? Well, I guess you explain Kiffin because his dad goes wherever he goes :lol

Well Tebow doesn't have to worry about Ryan Clark in the secondary. Ryan Mundy should fill his spot, but Clark is one of the best cover free-safeties in the AFC. Against an elite passing team I'd say look for Polamalu to play more coverage, but against a struggling Tebow I'd say Lebeau likes his chances moving Troy around and leaving Taylor and Gay to cover, and leaving Mundy in his zone.

Mendenhall is also out (for the play-offs), but IMO Redman is the much tougher runner, so they'll have their hands full with him.

Pouncey is still ailing some from his high ankle sprain, and I think there's still some doubt with Legursky's health, and IMO that's their best and most versatile O lineman, especially if Pouncey goes out again.

The biggest key is the health and mobility of Roethlisberger. I really wish they'd have fallen to #6 now so Ben could play in the warmth for this round. His ankle will be worse in that cold and extreme elevation of Denver. I look for Denver to come all out at Ben. I just hope Bruce Arians has those hot reads ready.

Denver doesn't have a prayer (no Tebow pun intended). :lecture

I also said at the beginning of the season the Falcons won't win single playoff game. I hope I'm wrong on this. ____ the Giants. No team from the NFC East deserves to be in the playoffs.

Oh I definitely like the Steelers chances against either of the 3 or 4 seed teams, but I don't like to proclaim them victors before a snap is taken. I mean this isn't like other pro sports where you play a series and get a chance to bounce back from a bad game. You either show up and play, or you go home.

The Minnesota Vikings have named Rick Spielman the GM, according to Espn 1500 Twin Cities.

WTF! :gah:

It just goes bad to worse. He's been part of the problem.

:lecture At least one person is in charge now. If this team screws up again next year, one person will be to blame. Still though....

Vikings should have learned from Detroit that you shouldn't have ex players as GMs. It might work in basketball where you only have to evaluate a roster of 13, but in football and baseball, I don't think they do as well as people who have been groomed into the position over the course of 20 years of internships and minor jobs.

I've always liked Ricks choices. He's easy to blame but, i don't buy it. I disagree with six, he's a hype buyer anyways. Rick part of the problem? LOL that's an easy way out. (Frazier needs to go, sorry were not THAT bad. Had a year and a half to do something with TALENT..couldn't!)

I hope the Lions can upset the Saints.

LOL just realized I confused Chris Spielman with Rick Spielman. I guess this guy has a lot of front office experience.

Saints owner Tom Benson is a VERY rich man down here. Owning many car dealerships, a large office building next to the Superdome, and our FOX 8 TV station. I would hope and pray that he will pay up for Drew, and give him the star QB money aka Peyton Manning, Tom Brady pay scale, that Brees deserves so much.

But what pieces of the puzzle are you willing to sacrifice? Remember, there's this little thing called a salary cap.

If it was only about owners worth Seattle would be best by far. Benson is more towards middle of pack of worth by NFL owners.

Any predictions for this weekend?

Here are mine:

Cincinnati at Houston...Houston

Detroit at New Orleans...New Orleans

Atlanta at NY Giants...NY Giants

Pittsburgh at Denver...Pittsburgh
