Thank god the game at Candlestick is not a late game, so they don't have to worry about the lights going out again like on MNF! :lol

Heck of a 2nd half melt down by the Lions. They looked good the 1st half, but their secondary had so many busted coverages late in that game.

And does anyone else get completely annoyed by listening to Collinsworth? He is just the biggest fair weather/bandwagon jumping commentator there is. Good Lord, please come out of retirement Madden!!!! I wonder is Al Michaels covers his mouth piece and tells him to STFU? I know I would. I know a lot of you were annoyed by the commentators in the early game, but Mike Mayock doesn't bother me (besides his borderline lisp). But maybe that's because my wife is a Notre Dame fan so I hear him a lot.

All right, 2 games set for the Divisional Round! I think Houston is carrying a lot of momentum into Baltimore, and if the Ravens are too busy patting themselves on the back for finally winning the Division, then the Texans could pull an upset on them. Arian Foster just seemed to be playing on a whole other level in that game (after finally practicing ball security), and the Saints Pierre Thomas was a freaking stud in their game, as well! He ran tough on a pretty good front 7. Different story next week at San Fran. My big question with them is will they get the jitters having a roster full of NFL play off virgins?

Happy day!

Don't know about the game next week. I expect that Saints to attempt to throw to set up the run. But the world saw tonight what I've seen all season--Saints defense is not good.

However, some stats I think could be important: the Saints are pretty good at stopping the run. They showed that tonight. They are 12th in the league in rush yards allowed. Seems the 49ers MO is that of the typical great defensive team (not unlike your LSUs and Alabamas ;) )--run the ball and stop the other guys, pass every once in awhile, settle for field goals, etc. 49ers are 29th in passing offense in the league in terms of yards per game (the Saints weakness). So that does not work to their advantage so much.

So yes, the Saints have a decent running game that the 49ers might be successful at stopping (at least early). But, I don't think the Saints need to run to win (though it helps). Their strength offensively is the 49ers weakness (passing), and the 49ers strength offensively is really the Saints relative strength defensively (running). Home field is a factor of course, as potentially is playing outside and the fact that the Saints are not as good away. But I would say that the Saints chances are pretty good.

Well, apparently someone knows how the playoffs will unfold.:lol

Dear Lord I hope that is a fake :slap

Sorry, but even if Schaub had stayed healthy I couldn't see this happening. They might be able to pull an upset against Baltimore with how inconsistent they've been all season, but I can't see them going to, let alone winning, this Super Bowl. Just hopefully if they do win one it has those Roman Numerals in it, or ones easy to convert those over to.

You never, ever, EVER!!!! count your chickens before they hatch. This reminds me of those idiots in the military that would get tattoos of awards they've never gotten, like Ranger tabs, jump wings, EIB/CIB and what-not.

And yes, I have a Steelers tattoo, but only with the Roman Numerals of the Super Bowls they've already won!

I'll pick the Saints for the experience factor, and that if they look lack-luster early on that their coaching staff is better and can make the necessary adjustments at the half. Kinda like tonight.

It's real. It's from an article in the Houston Chronicle. The guy got it done back in October. He said he had the shading done around the numerals so that it couldn't be changed.:slap

I think you and I, being fans of the teams we are, know for a fact you don't ever crown them champions unless they're raising the damn Lombardi!!

I really hate to use this word to describe people, because when used improperly it's completely classless, but that dude is a freaking RETARD!! I'm sorry, but I can not come up with any other word to describe how stupid that is!

You can have faith in your team all you want, but your faith isn't going to make them play well enough to win the Super Bowl. They have to do that themselves.

Congrats Texans and Saints for moving on to the next round.
I enjoyed watching both games.

About that tat...that's just...nevermind. :thud:

That Falcons/ Giants game tomorrow can go either way with Eli there! :slap

So wait...since Saints won, does that mean the winner of the Falcons/Giants plays GB next week.

You sure you don't wanna crown their ass? Because you can.

Yep.

» Willie Roaf, T -- 1993-2001 New Orleans Saints, 2002-05 Kansas City Chiefs
This guy may not be very well known to most here. As my signature shows, my favorite Saints player growing up was, sadly, a kicker. But the best player they had in my pre-Brees lifetime was probably Willie Roaf. Anderson's greatness was more his consistency than anything else. Roaf was just awesome. Being an offensive lineman it's sometimes hard to see that, but he was always in the pro bowl, and defensive linemen never seemed to be able to get past him. Whenever you looked his way during a play, he seemed to be dominating whoever he was going up against. Some analysts have suggested that he is easily one of the greatest offensive linemen of all time.

I don't suspect he'll get in.

You're right about good old reliable Willie Roaf! Being the long-standing Saints fan that I am I know him very well. One of the lineman that always did his job, and did it great. He went to multiple Pro Bowls, and a great public ambassador for the Saints off of the field. I was sad when he left the Saints to go to the K.C. Chiefs, but I still kept up with him. He deserves the H.O.F. nomination! First our Saints had Rickey Jackson in the H.O.F., now possibly Willie Roaf?! :yess:

Yeah, karamazov80, I doubt he'll make the final cut. But it would be so nice if he did. Just like when Rickey Jackson made it!

My favorite player growing up was basically a tie between your signature image karamazov80. Saints #7 place kicker Morten Andersen, and the local boy quarterback #3, Bobby Hebert. I've since then got to meet both of them in person, and get their autographs. They're both great guys, and very friendly in person.

Geaux Saints! They did it again! Another big win at home! That makes their home record a perfect 9-0 this season! :)

The first half was tough. The Lions hung with the Saints for the most part. Some tough calls that went the Lions way. The challenge was set for the Saints to answer back in the second half and they did just that.

The second half was great for the Saints! Strong running from Chris Ivory, Pierre Thomas, and Darren Sproles. Awesome second, and even third effort not giving up as they ran. Brees lighting it up again, and having another great night, and our receivers catching passes and scoring TDs. The Saints showed the were ready for the Lions, and didn't let up the entire second half of the game, and dominated the Lions. The Saints set a record of 626 total yards on offense in a playoff game that was previously set by the Chargers in 1970.

On to the next....

The 49ers at home. The Saints will be ready for the unpredictable weather, the bad footing on the grass field, and the Niners.
