Ohh and for all the should of could of would ofs for the NE Smiths TD in second half should have been called back for his facemask penalty that wasn't called.

Yeah, every game has those. The fact that they happened late in the game matters a little more, but not that much more in my view. Saints were driving down about to score on their first possession and their running back gets knocked unconscious, fumbles, Niners recover, Saints can't score, momentum is lost, Thomas is gone for the game. What if that play hadn't happened? Who knows? It did, Saints lost, that's that.

There is good news folks.. the Niners can now be a contender for top dog next season with Alex Smith, can you believe that .. GB better watch out!

How great is the NFC next season with Brees and the Saints with better defense, GB, Niners , Giants and SUPERCAM! (yeah I said it, cause Carolina is going to get that defense together in the draft)

Sorry falcons, Cowboys and maybe Eagles your NFC glory days are over with :lecture

it's so hard to get back to the postseason in the NFL, this year doesn't mean much imo, just like playoff seeding doesn't mean ____. If you can make it in, which is very difficult to do in itself 2 years in a row, anyone can win from there on if they get on a role. Sure, the 9ers have a good shot to make it back, but injuries come so often, and things change so much from year to year.

I was hoping to see a Ravens superbowl matchup, just because I think it would have been the end of R. Lewis, I think a win would have seen him retire this year. Intead, he'll hang around for another season.

Glad I wasn't the only one that missed that. He dragged McCourty for about 5 yards by the facemask for that TD. Didn't understand why nothing was called.

Oh well. At least the Pats got the win...

The ref probably couldn't see it as they would be behind the play at point most likely.

I think this will be one of those forgettable SB's. Both teams are pretty average at best who just got lucky / hot at the right time. I can't see the winner going down as anything special in history.

Yeah,NO.:pfft:
If the Patriots win that will be their 4th Superbowl, nothing special there for a team that for a long time,at least while I was growing up,was never on TV in their own state and were awful.
Brady will join the ranks of multiple Superbowl rings such as
Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana both with 4 rings.
He's also in good company with Troy Aikman with 3.

Those games yesterday were kind of "meh". The Patriots looked rather bad, but for some reason Brady always does against the Ravens. I however would like to thank them for playing well enough to prevent the Ravens from winning. The Giants looked good considering the conditions, but again not too exciting a game for me.

The Niners need to spread their offense out more and take advantage of the receivers speed. They just seemed too predictable in their gameplan. They need to mix it up more. I thought Alex Smith was getting away from what got them to where they were at the end. It seemed he was trying to do too much when he didn't need to. To much throwing on the run. My hat off to Jim Harbaugh and the fantastic job he did there. A lot to build on, obviously, but a lot to build off of as well.

Vernon Davis ..... I really don't like him. I thought he patted himself on the back too much last week with that win, and he gets 1 TD and in turn costs them 15 yds with his arrogance. Then again, getting involved where he shouldn't have cost them another 15 yds and a possible 3 points, which could have won the game for them. He is just undisciplined and selfish.

*** Did anyone else notice in the NFC game before the 2 minute warning in the 4th quarter, the game clock had about 2:15 or so left and the play clock said :10 but wasn't counting down. When Smith just let the clock run down to the warning I was baffled why there wasn't a delay of game penalty so I had to rewind it to see what happened, and noticed the play clock wasn't counting down. Nothing big, probably just an error with no bearing on the actual game, I just thought it was weird.

Oh yah... who cares? Brady will just win his 4th title and add to his epic status, or Manning (Eli) will hoist the trophy for 2nd time, one more than his bro (Peyton) in Peyton's building.

Ya, but who cares?! Speaking like someone who's team is out. :rotfl

Was there ever a point in this season when you looked at either NE or NY and thought "Wow, this team is something special, this is a great football team?" I sure didn't. I never said there weren't interesting storylines or that it would be a bad game but 5 years for now nobody is going to put either of these teams in their top 20 SB teams of all time.

And what does my team being out have anyting to do with it? They lost 10 in a row so how could I ever even think they would have made the SB.

Who cares? It's a Super Bowl. They earned their right to be there. Not every SB winning team will be epic, or legendary. That's what sports is about. Yes, we have those epic teams like the undefeated Dolphins, the Bears with that insane D, the Ravens...the great Steelers of the 70s, and early Packer clubs, Montana's 49ers et.

And you also have the forgettable Bucs, and others. SO be it.

Great is subjective. I'm sure the NY fans are loving it. They are mimicking another great run like in 2007, this adds to the Boston/NE vs. NY rivalry, Manning vs. Brady... and whether you don't think either team is great, facts are, one QB involved is legendary, another is building a nice HOF career, Coughlin with a win will be HOF worthy, Belichik already is and it's a rematch of a prior game in the SB that will go down as one of the biggest upsets, if not the biggest in big game history.

You are right, never I said, "Wow, this team is something special, this is a great football team?"

But I said the same a few other times about many other clubs that wound up winning the SB that were just mediocre at midpoint or did not have epic regular seasons.

The Raiders that were the first team to win from a WC spot was such. The ARZ team a few years back that played the Steelers werent looked as a great team, but surely made it a wonderful SB with their performance vs. Pitt.

That is the beauty of sports. Who wouldve thought DEN would win the div. after their start and then go on and beat Pitt?

Believe me, the ratings will be epic with the coaches, QBs, teams involved... the game, whether a stinker or not, would be immensely successful and no one is even saying that either one of these teams with a win will go down as one of the great clubs to win a ring, like some of the above teams I mentioned.
