Well when the guy puts up 10 grand of his own money to take a player out, he's lucky he still has an opportunity to come back. Pro sports aside, that's criminal activity! If I offer someone said amount of money to beat someone up for me, I'd be looking at jail time!!

What I would like to know is: who actually got victimized by this "bounty system"?

Were there any players who were successfully injured to the point of inability to play due to this program?

Reports coming out that former Charger/Dolphin/Patriot Junior Seau was found dead at his home.:( Apparently suicide.

Maybe, maybe not. You need to remember the scrutiny the league is under for head injuries at the moment. You have retired players suffering from CTE committing suicide because of extensive head injuries that occurred during their playing careers. The league can't appear to take a bounty system that encouraged injuring opponents as nothing when preaching player safety.

Not to mention the lawsuits that are piling up against the NFL from those retired players.

Medical awareness could become the downfall of the NFL.

I think you are right about this, and that the injury angle is why the bounty program is treated so much more seriously than some other scandals. But there is also a level of hypocrisy here IMO. The NFL is a violent f'ing game. Players are trained to hurt each other. If the NFL is really so concerned with safety, then let's make it the National Flag Football League. Of course, officials aren't really concerned with those things. They are concerned with negative publicity associated with those things. So. . .this is what we get.
