I don't care what anyone says about Alex Smith, the guy is good and the way he is being coached to play has changed him and his confidence. He now holds the 49ers record for most passes attempted without an interception. That's quite a feat if you ask me. And that first TD pass to Vernon, the guys getting good, really good.

I've always rooted for Smith. He has taken so much heat, been thrown under the bus by coaches, and handled all the media blitzing with grace if you ask me. I remember when Singletary was the coach and in a game against the Eagles he fumbled and missed some targets and the whole stadium chanted "We Want Carr!". It was horrible to watch. Smith fought getting benched though and came so close to bringing the Niners all the way back from like 17 points down. He's got incredibly tough skin.

Glad to see him succeed (even if his stats are modest). His teammates seem to love him and Vernon Davis especially (whom has also grown from a selfish, immature prima donna to a elite player and team captain) has fought vocally in favor for Alex even when his coaches shoot him down. I'd honestly like to see this team win a ring. Between those two, Frank Gore's incredible career despite having blown out both knees in college and Patrick Willis and his heartbreaking story. A Super Bowl would be the Hollywood script.

As a leader, Cutler needs to learn how to manage situations and people in adverse conditions. He never has and never will.

He'll never lift a team when the chips are down. In fact, he pouts even more when things don't go his way.

The Bears will never win a Super Bowl with Jay Cutler as QB.

Sorry gibby. :1-1:

Sorry to pop this back up, but I went to Chicagoland Speedway over the weekend. :rock

Didn't he have a kid? That's dealing with adverse conditions. :lol

Cutler isn't the problem with this team. Sure he has some baggage, but the Bears will never win a SB if they don't get some pass protection from the O-line. Adding a WR and shuffling coaches isn't going to change that in two games, especially for something that has hindered this program for years now.

It's a fallacy to say so only two weeks into the season, but the 49ers look like the class of the NFC right now.

Yeah, it's only week 2. Yes, they did have 2 wins against 2 good teams, but a lot of 49ers fans are starting to sound like last years Packer fans- guaranteeing ridiculous predictions.

That's why I hedged my bets and put two qualifiers/caveats in my statement! :lol

Nothing wrong withhaving faith in a team that's looking good this early, I just hate trying to chat other placers and those morons get on there with "my team this, and we're going to do that". I like a little smack talking, but retardedism is a serious plague amongst NFL viewers (can't call those idiots fans, because they obviously don't watch the games with some of their retarded comments). Thankfully this thread is pretty decent. Some of the other sports threads in here though are BAD.

Yeah, the regular posters here are intelligent NFL fans that while may not agree with another poster's opinion, don't resort to infantile, boorish behavior.

But the NBA thread here, jeez. God forbid you badmouth someone's team.

That play was awesome! :lol Love see someone like Ed Reed getting chumped like that.

Did you see where Flacco pretty much blamed the refs for their loss? I guess the nearly 500 yds their D gave up and his offense doing squat with 5 turn overs had nothing to do with that.

He blamed the refs and then said.....wait for it......that the Eagles played dirty.

Only after being swung at a few times did the Eagles start giving it back. I'm proud of them for not backing down. Although if the "regular" refs were in we may have saw some ejections.

Every team has those fans. This is not a case common only to Packers and 49ers. Imagine how much talk their would be if the Raiders and Cowboys looked as good. And Bronco fans are getting chirpier as well.

Still, the fandom just seem "ridiculous" because all the loud-mouths talk and all the quiet ones stay silent and get looked overl :rotfl

im a long time broncos fan here and looking at the schedule i can honestly say i have no idea how they are going to do this season. tonight will be a good test for the defense, they did well enough last week except on third downs and that whole third quater(although broncos did score in under 30 seconds) im really hoping they win tonight so they dont have to look up at the chargers in the division

Sorry gibby, I disagree. When have you seen Cutler lift his teammates when his team is down? Mostly you see him bawling out players with his churlish, petulant behavior. He's just not a leader of men and certainly can't manage teammates when facing a modicum of adversity.

Cutler has all the talent in the world but he's a notch above Jeff George when it comes to head issues.

We can agree to disagree on this one. :peace :1-1:

You mean the "NBA Thug Thread."

I thought you guys looked very solid and should only get better as chemistry builds. Defense will be put in many more improved situations than last year so expect their numbers to rise. Tonight, unless you guys get blown out, won't really change my perception win or lose. Falcons are an explosive team and hard to beat at home. I expect the Broncos to hang around all season and they will have numerous opportunities to usurp the Chargers down the road. .02.

It's ironic, though, isn't it...a league that's supposed to have this tough guy image where the men of all men play, but when push comes to shove most of the players are just whiney cry babies who's feelings get hurt when someone calls them out on the field (and yes, this goes for Cutler at times, too).

As a friend of mine put it.."the pussification of America". :lol

You mean the "NBA Thug Thread."
