I think Tim Thomas still has more than a few games left in the tank. He's not that bad...
Are all Bruins fans that unhappy with him. He could always bounce back and give a decent season.

I think most Bruins fans recognize that the job belongs to Rask now, and see Thomas as a $5 million dollar albatross. Especially with a couple of key free agents (Chara/Bergeron) coming up next summer clearing him from the books would have been very nice.

Shame on Chiarelli for giving a 35 year-old goalie the deal he did with a NMC.

According to TSN, the Islanders may make a long term contract offer to Kovalchuk. The offer could be in the 10-year, $100 million range. He'll be 38. Are the Isles absolutely insane?? I thought Milbury was fired a long time ago.

Just saw that to:)
They want a new arena so might not be a bad idea

Halak just got a nice contract from St Louis.
I sure hope the Habs brass know what they're doing........

RIP Probie.

Only 45yrs old but, the guy had substance abuse problems and i am not sure if that was part of the reason he died, i will assume so though for now.

Dying at the ripe yound age of 45 is generally unusual.
While it's older than I am, I can see that age coming up soon enough.

I am late to the game, but when I heard that Bob Probert had passed away while in BC I got very teary eyed. :(

Despite the fact he was messed up with drugs earlier into his NHL career (roughly the same time I got into hockey) I was a fan of the big power forward. Anyone who can get over 20 goals and 60 points is not a goon. He was a great all-around hockey talent, but primarily he was one of the greatest heavy weights in the game when it came to taking off the gloves and doing the dance.

So what do you think of the Nik Zherdev signing?

I believe he's super talented but also very lazy and streaky. He can be selfish, but he's a first for Philadelphia. A pure offensive forward.

I honestly don't know too much about the guy.:slap He does look pretty good across the boards though for sure.

On a sidenote...

Hockey players have the best taste.:lecture

And they re-signed Dan Carcillo, not big money though 1.075m. I don't think Paul Holmgren is aware that there is a salary cap.

1.075 million USD for Daniel Carcillo, a bottom six feeder is way too much. Especially one that can be problematic to a team and cost it dearly during important moments of a game.

What was Philadelphia thinking? Dobber believes that if they can take his leash off he could be good for 45 points and 300 PIMs which would mean 2nd line duties or worst, 3rd line minutes with some power play exposure. Wayne Gretzky said the guy had 30 goal potential, so either these two are in on the same marijuana or a harsher drug, or maybe there is something to be said about Mr. Carcillo.

disagree eli. With his stats and what he brings to the table I think thats a fair amount for both sides. Maybe an even million would have been better, but he was one of their better players in the earlier rounds of the playoffs. Were paying cooke 1.75 I believe. He may have a bit better hands, but has his own issues as well.
