Knew he was going to get dealt though, and for peanuts, The Caps could have easily offered more.
As much as Burke is a major D bag, he doesnt stand pact. Leafs fans should be happy, he unloaded some of the turds. Kovalchuk???

Why would they trade for Kovalchuk? He's a UFA after this year isn't he? I doubt he'd resign there if he wants to win anytime soon. Unless you mean you think they will go after him with a truckload of money in the off-season.

This Detroit/Pens game is fun to watch. It's funny seeing how cool, confident, positionally sound, and calm in goal Howard is for Detroit, because he was average in my eyes in the AHL. I always thought McCollum was their future, maybe it's Howard.
OH ____! Wings just scored. So much for the Flower's shutout. Would have been the first of his season.
I gotta say Kennedy is not the most talented guy out there but man he works hard at it... too bad he doesn't have the skillset to match that work ethic.

I hate the deals for TO, I mean I understand Burke is building the team up from the bottom up. Best way to do it. Getting Aulie looks like he could be a poor man's Tyler Myer's which is good, and at 6'6" and 210 lbs they get a kid who when he finally fills out his frame, will have a monster, and if Phaneuf could get his game back, you guys have a formidable 3 with Schenn, Phaneuf (Elisha Cuthbert's bf), and Aulie.
I like that you guys dumped Blake's big salary, and got rid of Toskala and upgraded in goal with a former Conn Smyth winner (03 playoffs: 15 wins, 1.62 GAA, .945 S%), and your forwards were at the last year of their contracts, but you have lost 3 forward spots up front, and that wasn't a strength before, so what is TO going to do? Can you guys really depend on the Stralberg's, Hanson's, and Bozak's to step it up? On most teams they would be sitting on their respective AHL affiliate's rosters.
This deal could end up being Gilmour Ver 2.0 or a deal that kills TO and makes Burkie's deal potentially as bad as the Kessel's deal could potentially turn into. Just remember, as good as Phaneuf is, White is only a year older and has been just as good this season, maybe some may say he's been better.

TO should sign Petr Sykora. He's at his lowest bargaining value right now so they can land him at the league minimum, and he could still have a 25 goal season or two left in him. He's definitely worth taking a flier on especially when you consider the fact he's two seasons removed from a 63 point season, and is only 32.

Going into OT! What a game, and what the heck is with Jimmy Howard, he is on fiyah!
Man, it's so funny because I made a sign years ago at a Moose game, and for that entire series we taunted Howard and we were able to get under his skin. He went as far to acknowledge my sign and pointed to the back of his jersey just like my poster had shown...
It had a Howard the Duck sign, with Howard the Duck in Howard's Griffin's jersey, and he was pointing to his number which ... now I forget, but it was a great good time. ahhh The MTS Centre has had its moments.
Love playoff hockey! Best sport ever when you can experience hockey during Spring!

Whatever sunshine, they won. Why such a cranky puss? Seriously man, the team is good. Howard was unreal. Look at the chances they had, even the shot clock shows how much the Pens dominated the Wings. Getting sick of how you always make excuses for why the Pens don't deserve this or that.
Heck, I can even say nice things about your Caps. And trust me I am not a fan, although I don't hate the team.
