I dont know, is there much more he can do? I think he leads the league in goals, and he has brought his team to back to back finals, winning once. Id like to see Malkin play better for the remainder of the season.

Previous to the canada cup victory Lemieux's highest point total was 141. The year they won he got 168 and then 199 the following season. Great players can always elevate their game to another level. I would think Crosby's no different.

I don't know about Malkin. He was finally turning his game around before the olympics. He looked pretty down during the olympics especially after his turnover led to a goal. He seems like an emotional player that carries baggage with him. So he'll either be way off his game or come back with something to prove. I'm hoping its the latter, but time will tell.

Lets Go Pens!!

Trade deadline is Wed. Caps better beef up their defense or it's going to be yet another heartbreaking season.

Pens got Leopold for a 2nd rounder today. Eli, how was he when he played out west with the flames? Good pick up for us?? He was with the panthers this year which made him all but unwatchable...

I wonder if this is a setup move for something else before wed. We have 8 NHL dmen on the roster. I hope they bring in another winger, personally hoping for Torres from Columbus he's a decent banger with hands and should come at a decent asking price.

Of course right now its just all rumour as always in Toronto but, i hope they bring this guy home next season, i'll be pumped for sure.

Didnt Columbus resign him this off season?

I hear Allison, Lindros, Peca, Roberts and Neuiwendyk are available :)

Ahh crap yea, Nash signed a 8 year contract extension. :(

I was just reading some crappy article about Toronto's interest in Nash but, now i checked it again and it was dated prior to him signing that extension..dang it.

This rumor was out before we snagged Kessel.

Here i am getting excited over news posted well over a year ago ahahahaha! :duh

Ya, they now have 8 D, i wonder what they will do with Gonchar. Rumour is that he wont take the home town discount and the Pens cant afford to pay him top dollar as they are up against the cap. I wonder if they will trade him out west by tomorrows deadline. I think if you know he wont resign, trade him off and hope that Letang can step up on the PP.

Get a legit stud winger for him. A positional upgrade of significant importance for this team. btw We either get a vastly superior winger on our team or we keep him and trade someone else. Last season we were much better with him in the lineup. Him going down showed how important he is to our team's makeup!

As for Leopold, he's a strong steady two-way dman, with moderate offensive upside. He's not overly physical. He's an up and down guy, so here's hoping we get the upper end. Seems to be he plays hard when things look good. Playing for a Stanley Cup contender may elevate his game.

Agreed, although he's getting up there in age if you think our PP is crappy now I would hate to see it without our QB. I think if you "have" to trade someone to afford Gonch Goligoski goes. He's been so-so this year, but has the upside to get someone or something pretty good back in return. I'll be curious to see what Shero does to try and improve the team.

I would say aside from the obvious untouchables Letang, MAF, Orpik and Staal should not be moved. Actually throw Cooke in there too, he's been great for us this year.

From what I read, with his pretty low cap hit 1.75M and he's seems to be a decent PK'r we got a good deal for a 2nd rounder. Especially considering it will be the tail end of the 2nd round.

This may shock you, but I actually want Staal to be traded for yes, another winger. I love our strength down the middle. But why stunt a guy's growth who's natural position is at center, where he'll never be anything more than a third liner here, who has good to great upside. You don't take guys 2nd overall to play on your third line. Well, Staal has been a constant on the 3rd line since his rookie year. It's about time that changes! 4 years at 3rd line is putting his development at a stall! Get it? Get it?! We need better scoring wingers and linemates for our two big young superstars.
