Gogo had a decent game last night, but he's been pretty bad since the olympic break. If they let Gonch walk they will need to come up with a different PP attack and have either crosby or malkin quarterback it. Gogo and tanger are not close to the level of gonchar with the puck.

BTW - You don't trade staal. Geurin and feds will be gone after this season or better be. Right there is 4 million for a winger. I would consider trying to find a trade for Kunitz if anyone would be willing. He plays a good hard edge game but not worth his 3.75 cap hit. Between those 3 is 8 million tied up or close to it. There's always tryouts from WB as well.

Rusty is on a one year deal, but Billy G i think has one more year. We bash these guys but they have 20 goals some of them. I say let Gonch go and try and trade for Kaberle WITHOUT giving up Staal, I to want to pick up a Staal jersey and dont want to see him traded.

Not yet, but Despres maybe the man of the future. Either way Gonch won't be with us forever. He's climbing up in age, and besides your Fetisovs and Larionovs of the NHL Russian variety, none of the Rushkies make it beyond their late 30's. We have a young team, and Gonch is of the, "which one of these players doesn't belong" variety. I look at things long term, not immediate or short term.

And Jordan Staal has a lot of value I think. I feel he is being wasted as a third line centerman. You don't take a guy 2nd overall to be a bottom six player. He'll never grow and develop properly if he remains a Pen. For his own sake and development a deal would be smart. Lets not be selfish here. I mean this kid's natural position is center and he seems out of his comfort zone when he's placed on the wing. I just know we need a new winger. But you're right, for now a Kunitz or Guerin leaving the team freeing up cap space would be nice. I am just getting sick and tired of us signing or dealing for 2nd rate 2nd liners who are playing with elite No. 1 line centermen. Not saying we need a Hossa calibre guy, but beyond Sidney and Malkin, we only have 2 elite players on our roster. Where as the Caps have 4, and have loads of depth on the wings.

I really liked Caputi's game and was upset to see him go. He crashes the net looking for those garbage goals, plays in high traffic areas. Can take the body and battle along the boards and corners. I truly believe the Leafs will win that deal. Tangradi is okay, but I am not totally won over either. He doesn't impress me. Beyond that, there isn't too many prospect wingers I like.
