On a side note......if you have Direct TV, NHL Center Ice has a free trial from Oct. 6 through Oct. 23.

This might actually get me back into hockey again. :lol

i already ordered it. i got it last year for the first time and i loved it. it's great if you live in a sucky NHL market, where you know your team will never, ever, ever, win anything, and you would like to see an actual contender play hockey. the only downside is the lack of HD canadian team feeds and no Philladelphia Flyers.

:lecture I just refuse to acknowledge the Wild since the North Stars left town.

No Flyers? Is it because they have a different contract through Comcast?

i got my first Reebok EDGE jersey yesterday and i must say, i'm not hating it. i only wish they weren't so damn expensive. i got it on clearence. they are clearing out all the old EDGE jerseys to make way for the new styles this year. i might see if i can grab another one before they are gone.

Did you order somewhere online or in stores. I wouldn't mind picking up another on the cheap :lecture

I hope Avery stays. He makes for fun drama and entertainment. I do not like players like Gilles of the Islanders who have zero game except for being a bully on skates. Guys like him do not belong in the NHL. Still disgusted by what he did to that Tangradi kid.

Well he cleared waivers, hoping he'll report to the AHL and get a callup shortly into the season. HBO is going to be doing another 24/7 and he's the only player on the rangers that would make it interesting to watch

I don't mind Avery but Tort's always had him on a short leash and that seemed to mess up his game. He's better suited to play elsewhere imo.

Thanks for reminding me. I will be excited to see Torts going off after a 3 game losing streak. He'll make Boudreau look like a saint

I like how Torts goes off on his players and tries to publicly oust them to the media. He's so classless. I have no idea why the man gets hired, and don't say the Cup in '04 did it. One year is one year. Many coaches have won a Cup and have a hard time following it up with work simply because they can't repeat or do it with another team. Also, look at that Tampa Bay roster then. Lastly, they had no business winning the Cup that year after the NHL called back the Flames goal which should have won them the series. Such a joke.

Not as much of a joke as Lemeiux whining about illegal hits when he has Cooke, the dirtiest player in the NHL on his payroll. What a hypocrite Super Mario is, at least you know what you're getting with Torts.

I disagree with your post. Mario gave his stance on what he wants from the league. No head shots period. Yes, he has a well known cheap shot artist on his team. With Mario saying that, he is pretty much telling ALL of his players if they commit a stupid penalty they should be ready for what the league has in store for them and he will support the leagues decision.

With Cookes history, if he gets nailed again this year I would not be surprised to see him get suspended for half a season depending on the severity of the hit. They made an example of him last year towards the end of the year and Shanahan seems to be ruling with an iron fist thus far. The thing is and probably why he is still employed, is that Cooke is a solid 3rd liner when not committing boneheaded penalties. With that being said I would not be shocked to see him traded this year or at the least not have his contract renewed the next time its up. Supposedly, he had counseling this offseason and is changing his approach to the game. Time of course will tell.

You can disagree all you want, Mario is a hypocrite. He never uttered a single public word when Cooke was out there railroading players and trying to end careers, nor did he ever take any disciplinary action on Cooke or fine him for his garbage play. The only time Mario decided to open his trap is when his baby boy Sidney was on the receiving end, and the funny part is that it wasn't even an intentional hit that put Crosby out.

Super Mario is a super joke.

Honest question, have you EVER actually played hockey?
