Re: 2013 NHL Season

I'm sure you would have said the same thing if Boston had won the series.

No but I'm sure some Blackhawks fan would have.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Good on the Hawks & Bruins for a well played series, very entertaining, great drama. Kudos for Kane getting MVP, third American in a row:clap.

I am a BIG Kane fan. He's an incredible player. However, I just can't see how he was awarded the Conn Smythe trophy. IMHO Corey Crawford should have got it. Hell, I would have given it to Sharp before Kane. He was far more consistent than Kane. Kane wasn't a poor choice. I just thought the other 2 were more worthy of the award.

:lecture:exactly:Yeah, Sharp definitely sets up a lot of scoring opportunities (hell I'm wearing my #10 jersey today) but Crawford should have gotten it. At least Kane was the first to admit that Crow got snubbed.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

I am not a fan of Crawford, but I think he would have still gotten the Conn Smythe if not for a) his atrocious Game 4 and b) the horrible second goal.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Some of you though Crawford should've won the Conn Smythe? Not in my books. The awards went to the right player forsure.

I'm definitely not faulting Kane for getting it, because he is a major key to the Blackhawks success. My issue is that Crawford had one bad game (5 goals given Up) and suddenly everyone has him out of the running. The same game Rask gives up 6 (loss for the Bruins) and yet everyone was still talking about him getting it. Crawford kept the Hawks alive so many times throughout the playoffs. I can't count how many shots he saved as a result of everything from bad turnovers to simply not clearing the puck from the zone. There were so many times where he was hung out to dry and left floundering but still managed to come up with the puck.
Kane did have a lot of impact on the playoffs, especially the hat trick that took out the Kings and I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it, but I think Crawford deserves it a little more.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Even so i'd still have given the edge to Kane. Personally, imo of course, Crawford was not all that great (throughout the playoffs) Now what I mean is, not great enough to win the Conn Smythe. If Boston were to have won i'd easily pick Rask for Conn Smythe. He was the deciding factor for Boston the entire playoffs. He too only had one or two bad games.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Neither goalie this year was a runaway for the Conn Smythe. Both, for the most part, did what they had to do to keep their teams in it. But there weren't many stolen games, like Thomas and Quick did the years prior.

For me, Bergeron was Boston's winner.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Shortened season or not, it was hockey at it's best this playoff run. I honestly cannot remember a more exciting year of Playoff Hockey than this one.

At times it seemed almost scripted with how wonky some of the outcomes of the games were.

Should the Bruins have won? Yes.

Am I upset they didn't? **** No.

But a jab at a tainted Cup helps ease the heartbreak :lol :lecture

Re: 2013 NHL Season

So now that it's over they reveal Patrice Bergeron played Game 6 with a broken rib, separated shoulder and torn cartilage/muscle tissue, and also had a small hole in his lung.:thud:

I don't know where I'll be in life when it happens, but I know for certain that I want to be in the building when #37 goes into the rafters next to 4, 77, 8, and the others.

I'm really surprised they let him play in game 6 now that this has all come out. A hole in your lung!?!? That seems like it'd be one of those situations where you'd be in the hospital, not playing hockey.

As for Shaw, when he took that puck to the face I though for sure he'd be out for the rest of the game.

This series sure got physical as it went on.
