Re: 2013 NHL Season

Sounds good. If Letang and Shero work something out the pens are going to be in cap hell for long time.

The cap goes up and down. The team has great talent for years. I can take him or leave him. In the end, we're spoiled as Penguin fans.

I just don't get why nothing has changed from the dynamic of this past Spring's Cup run. Something has to give. You don't possess that wealth of talent and swept in the Eastern Conference with a dismal 2 goals in the entire series. lol

The Pens achilles heal is with their defense.
The cap is actually going down after next season I believe, but the Pens have a lot invested in 4 players.

Well it's a good thing I have my Jets as a back up team then. If my Pens are destroyed by the cap, then I have my second option. ;)

I am not worried. These are smart hockey people here. The Pens have been one of the most successful franchises in this sport post full season lock out. I tell you what, you can worry for the both of us. ;)

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Letang is in idiot for turning down $54mil. I don't think any team will offer him as much as the Pens would. Considered him gone....

I think Colorado should take a stab at Iginla. I think he has some juice left and would be a great addition to their young lineup. Now if only they can get a some D -men's next year. Maybe Barrie, Seimens or Elliot can make the jump.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Wow Schneider traded to Jersey for 9th overall pick. I don't think Canucks got enough for him. Good steal for Jersey.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.

Agreed. Great deal for NJ, wtf were the Canucks thinking though!

It was reported the Edmonton oilers offered the Canucks their 8th pick, 2nd round pick & a prospect for Schneider and Gillis trades with Jersey? Wtf was he thinking? He is as worst of a GM as Calgary's Feaster.

Luongo must be pissed.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Well, Bolland and Frolik are gone and Bickell has a new 4 year deal. That didn't take long. Bolland was injured a lot this year and his play had dropped so I saw that coming. Frolik was big on the PK and that one was a little bit of a surprise. I wonder who else will become a Cap casualty.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

colorado has a nasty habit of trading their good players to teams within their division. hopefully that will stop with the new re-alignment. their number 1 pick mackinnon looks like a force to be reckoned with but unfortunately colorado once again did not address the problem of a weak blue line passing over seth jones. they did draft 4 defensemen that aren't a pro-caliber yet. they picked up cory sarich from calgary who is a very stable d-man but still need a lot more than that. i guess they want to attempt to outscore their opponents again this year. those 6-5 games are exciting but you're not going to win many championships that way.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Canucks made up for it, by getting the steal of the 1st round... Hunter Shinkaruk.

i think the canucks will take a drop this year. playing in a new division instead of beating up all year on rebuilding teams should knock them down a few pegs. and losing schneider but keeping luongo may be a huge mistake although it helps them with the cap. this season should be interesting.

Yeah, sad to see both go, but like you said Bolland was injured, and Frolik was brought in for offense and didn't live up to expectations.

I'm glad they signed Bickell, though.
Hope they extend Crawford at some point, too.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

My God, am I really that old that I remember when the Devils drafted Broduer and now they drafted his son! :(
