Lets see, our teams as of today (again using the logic what players and teams have done yesteryear means nothing... NOTHING!!! Again, I am only playing by your guys rules)... so yeah TODAY the teams in discussion are 9 games above .500, 4 games above .500, and one game above .500. Can you venture a guess which team is 9 games above .500? That's right, it's Pittsburgh.
And what team has the best goal differential at +28? Right again, it's Pittsburgh!
Who has 24 points and is running away with the Art Ross despite playing 3 fewer games than the next scorer? You got it... Crosby! Oh yeah, but Crosby is just padding his points against Buffalo. Yeah, because 5 point games against mediocre teams happens all the time. Not. But I am not done there, I'll humour you and say that all of Crosby's amazing production through out his career is a result of padded numbers against mediocre teams. btw Did you know Wayne Gretzky got the bulk of his points against the Winnipeg Jets. That's not this version of the Jets... no, the now Arizona Coyotes who were the former Winnipeg Jets version 1.0. Because, I am not sure if you guys knew that history. Cause you know how fans often come out of the wood work when a team wins something big. Here's looking at you LA fans. Oh I tease! Don't get your tidies in a knot like Yankee and Deeznutz. btw My fandom of Pittsburgh has nothing to do with the Crosby/Malkin generation. I own a Mario Lemieux and Ron Francis jersey. I have had the Francis since I was a little kid. Don't own 87 or 71's jerseys. Just sayin'!
Anyway, getting back on track... Point is nobody says, the Great One isn't great because he scored a ton of his points against a mediocre Jets team. I get that you haven't gone there .... yet. But I figure I would beat you to the punch, because it seems like the kind of smoke and mirror tellings of what SurelyJ and PlanetYankee would have you believe. *grins mischievously* Oh I am just having fun with you two at this point.
How about that... Kopitar's 5 measily points, how does that stack up to Crosby's 24? Or even their past season comparables (not a word? It should be!)....Oh right, we can't go there. It's against the rules of this silly game. Yeah... Yeah... and the guy who uses the +/- argument to make a player sound better. What's Crosbys and what's Kopitar's +/- this year? Stumped? I mean, if you were to make an argument for who's better than Crosby and Malkin, fine, come at me with a player that may make a good conversation. Like Ovechkin when he was in beast mode, and played with a fiery intensity in his eyes. Oh wait, that was years ago and we dare not go there! Whatever player you throw at me now, the facts (both individual and team accomplishments) and legions of hockey fans would have it be 87. Multiple Art Ross, Harts, Gold Medal winning goal (multiple Olympic Golds), WJC Gold, a Stanley Cup.. and the kid is only 27. But alas, opinions are opinions after all. Like buttholes, we all have one... But you're coming at me with Kopitar bro? Really?! Seriously?! *gives his head a shake* Wizzle wozzle? Anyway, moving along...
btw When you're a beast offensively that Malkin is, calling a guy out for not being that good defensively, even though he has some of the best puck possession/protection skills, when he's at his best, he owns the neutral zone, and when you're in the neutral zone, you're not in your end, so how is this an issue? Hmmm...
Oh yes, Malkin gets tons of points on PP. Did you know Malkin has led the league in ES points multiple times? Did you know he has more ES points than any player not Crosby since joining the NHL?
Did you know Malkin has crap linemates currently and is still on pace for over 100 points?
Now can we just stop reaching (Kopitar is better because he's more complete).... HELLO! *waves* Crosby is a good on face offs, great at both ends, dominates offensively like no other, but no... NO NO NO! NOOOO!!!! Oh and Malkin isn't good because he a defensive wreck and pads his points on the PP, which is PART OF THE GAME! HELLO (I love saying Hello!), MANY OF THE GREATS HAD EXCELLED IN THAT AREA.. GRETZKY, LEMIEUX, ORR, BOSSY...), saying oh that was yesteryear... can't say the Pens did this or that, that was not this year. Oh right, but you can easily go back and make an argument that your team did this prior to this year. I get that. I can do this, but you can't, because life is a one-way street! Neener neener neener... But sigh, opinions. Fine, go with your Kopitar....
And as for Marc-Andre Fleury, he's good. No he isn't? Oh right, that's what Deeznutz would have you believe. Okay, doing my best impersonation of Deez... *takes a deep breath...* This goalie sucks... I HAVE NO PROBLEM SAYING HE SUCKS WHEN HE SUCKS, WAHHHHHHHHH, BUT WHEN HE'S GOOD I JUST IGNORE IT AND PRETEND IT DOESN'T HAPPEN, BECAUSE IT WOULD ADMIT I AM WRONG AND THAT HE CAN BE GOOD... WAHHHHH! I am a so-called Pens fan *kicks his feet up in the air* but I crap on my own players, even when they play good. WAHHHHH!!! End scene.
Relax Deez. Don't blow a gasket. I am having fun.. it's just a toy forum after all.
Don't get me wrong, I have been there and said Fleury better shape up or he'll be shipped out. I have no problem denying the homer in me and saying, look the Flower's (what a lame nick!) pedals are coming off, but there are two sides to a coin. Nothing is as simple as... I don't like him, so I can't say anything good about him! There are two sides to pretty much everything. The good and bad. Look, I don't like Pavelec either, but I can admit when the guy is playing out of his mind, and as a Jets fan I would be a maroon if I said I hope he doesn't keep it up. As much as I think he's a mediocre starter, I would love to be proven wrong about him... he's only 27, and he has worked his butt off all Summer to get in tip-top shape. So maybe he's turning a corner. Guess what you don't hear me do, say how much he sucks to people. I keep saying how good he's doing, because that's what a fan does. When their players do well, they cheer them on, until given reason not to.... and now, neither of us have reason to crap on either goalie because they have been great. Who cares what happened that year or what might happen. Right now, things are looking promising.
Anyway, rant over. I am done with this forum. It's only a few guys talking about the same crap... yeah you can chalk me up as one as well, but it's the same thing. Crosby sucks. Pens suck. Fleury sucks and that last one comes from a Pens fan. *shakes head*
Can you remember the last time a team won back-to-back Stanley Cups? Just saying. I applaud your team for winning a Cup or making a Final. But it's a whole new season and what history tells us, there aren't many back-to-back or repeats... When we look at teams that make the Stanley Cup Final and not make the playoffs the following year. Look no further than Philadelphia and New Jersey of recent. Carolina did the same thing in 2002.
Don't get me wrong, what LA has done is something special, same goes for the Hawks. 2 Stanley Cups in 3 years. But when we jumpstart to a new season, it's anyone's ball game. Buffalo Sabres for a 180 and win Lord Stanley's Cup in 2015! Woooo!
Enjoy the thread guys, I am out. Don't bother to even respond to my post... You can if you want, but it won't be for me to see. Toodles.
Fine, I'll be back... but not soon. I need some separation. Space. Time to heal.
