Yes he was decent to good last year, but awful since winning the cup, that is why I said never again. Decent to good simply won't win cups, he was possibly the worst goalie in all of last years playoffs if you look at th teams that made in, Christ they barely beat Columbus with all his bumbling and stumbling around and ya he has played some good games this year, but those 12 games had some typical flower blunders, that **** simply won't cut it to win another one, it won't.

Again, we'll see. New coach, lots of new things going on with this team and a great start. Time will tell. And I would say, Fleury at time in last year's playoffs was great.

What funny is how irrelevant the rags have been for 20 years and still are, you get one lucky run and start running around like peacock.

No one even mentions them to come out of the east again because they fluked their way to the final last year and have no chance of doing it again this year.

This is priceless coming from a Montreal fan I presume. When's the last time MTL, or any team from Canada was relevant?

I live in the now, so what Crysby did 5 years ago doesn't mean jack when you want to talk about who the best is now.

My favorite stat so far of the season is that Malkin has 16 points in 11 games and is a -2. I'm not a huge proponent of +/-, but when you are scoring at more than a point per game pace and are a minus player, it really shows how piss poor you are defensively at even strength. And yes, I know most of his points come on the PP. That's the point, he isn't nearly as effective at ES.

Guy is a Calder, two-time Art Ross scoring champ, Hart Trophy, Ted Lindsay, and Conn Smyth winner, not to mention he has the best points-per-game sans one player in the NHL since joining as a rookie back in 06/07. Only Crosby beats him for PPG avg. Also, he's a former 50 goal, 3-time 100 point producer in a league that seldom sees 100 point players, and he has three. He was prorated to get 99 last year. Good for second in the league. He was pretty damn good in the playoffs last year. I don't know what the people are smoking in this thread...

Also Malkin has no wingers this year. They traded James Neal and Patric Hornqvist, who was supposed to be his adopted winger, became Crosby's... so yeah... Not buying your very reaching argument. And he's still a career +56. And by the end of the season he'll be a plus, so yeah... uh huh.

Seriously dude, are you ****in blind, both my sig and avatar are Pens shots, yet because I'm from Mtl that makes me a Habs fan? The Habs and Canada are irrelevant just like the Rangers

Keep drinking the koolaid, one playoff run means jack ****, go check your stats homer, the Pens have owned the Rangers every year but last when the rags decide to stack five guys in front of the net making for some of most boring hockey in history.

I bet the Devils and flyers finish ahead of you this year

Fleury was brilliant tonight. The Pens won on shoot out goals by Crosby and Malkin, the two best players in the world and the Pens are ahead of the Rangers and Kings in the standings... Say wha?!

Can you say 19 points in 12 games? Can you say 49 GF and 26 GA for a league-best +23 goal differential? I can! I just did! That's based on Yankee's, what have you done now, because everything prior to this year's in the past.

So screw the Pens consecutive playoff appearances, their two Cup Finals, and the Stanley Cup they won. The Kings Cup and the Rangers run to the Final. All past tense.

In the now, Crosby leads the NHL in scoring, Malkin rocks and Fleury is a top 5 goalie currently in the league, and my Pens are ahead of the aforementioned teams.

... I know he is a beast offensively. That quite clearly wasn't my point. My point was he is average defensively. Not knocking any of his achievements. I don't need to use a stat to say he isn't very good defensively, I've seen him play enough to know that. To be fair to him, the Penguins as a whole don't put a huge value on defensive play, which is fine, it's the East Coast style and it's fun to watch.

I just pointed out that I thought his being a minus player and scoring at such a high clip is amusing to me. It's not reaching. If you want to sit here and make the argument that Malkin is outstanding defensively, be my guest. You can't make that argument because he isn't. If you want to just keep pointing out his offensive achievements, Ok, cool, I'm aware of them all. If you think they outweigh his defensive shortcomings, I agree. Malkin is an amazing player. Better than Crosby is you ask me. I think the Canadian/NA boy love is what makes people like Crosby more.

I know Malkin has no wingers. It's part of what makes his achievements so incredible. But it also does not require good wingers to be solid defensively. That's kind of a neither here nor there point if we are discussing his defensive acumen.

Rangers are the defending Eastern Conference Champions which means they're relevant, unlike those overrated cry babies from Pittsburgh and that bandwagon fan base still yapping about what Cindy did half a decade ago.

Speaking of stats, last I checked the Rangers came back from a 3-1 deficit against Pitt to force game 7 last post season.

Then, they went into Consol and crapped on your boys in Game 7 in their own house! LMFAO HOW EMBARRASSING!

You are putting way too much emphasis on a few early games at the start of the season. This season is a long way from playing out. On top of that, most of the teams that are the highest seeds fall in the playoffs. Also, teams with a history of struggling in the post season have a hard time shaking that label. The nice thing is that each season is different and anything can happen if your team hits a groove in the playoffs.
