Re: 2013 NHL Season
Oh yeah, you're right. The Devils created all the clutch and grab in hockey. Don't forget to mention the trap. Well, except for the fact that Jacques Lemaire admitted MTL trapeed in the 70's and it worked well for them. Of course as a Pens fan you wouldn't know that since the only T word the Pens know is TANK.
Wow... That's rather narrow minded and ignorant of you to say concerning Deeznutz. Let me get this straight, the idea that Deeznutz is a Pittsburgh Penguins fan means he doesn't get it? This is based on the thought process that his opinion or comments don't necessarily coincide with your views and/or opinions? Alright then. Right there, that makes your argument invalid. There is no logic to it. Lets rewind a little and replay with a more accurate call: Perhaps it's a Deeznutz thing? Would that make more sense? You see, this is what we call rhetorical questions. What he thinks and what other Penguins fans think are not one in the same, except for the fact (that word again), that both are fans of the same team. Lets target those who drink water, and every time someone says something we don't agree with, we can say, it's typical of their water consuming nature.. That would be the entire world. You see, it isn't that easy.
Moving along... What was the whole point of throwing in, "since the only T word the Pens know is TANK." Am I missing something here? What the heck have they done in the past 5 years? Two Stanley Cup Finals and a Stanley Cup victory is tanking? Sure they haven't had the greatest playoff success since their last Cup win, but before the New Jersey Devils surprising Cup run, they failed to make the playoffs. Also, you do realize the Pen's core is still young and much into their prime... Sidney Crosby (25), Evgeni Malkin (26), James Neal (25), Kris Letang (25), and Marc-Andre Fleury (28). They also possess the deepest pool of defensive prospects, and some would argue the best as well. Oh, and don't write them off as they can't win again. I remember a lot of people claiming they wouldn't ever win another Cup pre-2009. Yet they did. I believe this team has what it takes to win another. They maybe missing one more piece, but I don't think it's unattainable for them or out of the realm of possibility. Lets keep in mind, an 8th seeded team won the Holy Grail of hockey last Spring.
Fact: I am a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Fact: I knew about the trap era Montreal Canadiens of the 1970's. Fact: New Jersey brought it back in the mid 90's. Fact: It bored a lot of people. What can I say, it is well documented. I don't necessarily agree with their thoughts, but it is what it is. Fact: The Penguins have won as much Cups as your Devils. Fact: The Penguins Cup was more recent than the Devils. Fact: I am a New Jersey supporter, but just stating the facts. So don't get on me how I am all against your team... Because that would be a misplaced and inaccurate opinion. Not a fact. I wouldn't say the Devils are trying to tank, because it's clearly evident that isn't the case. Much like saying the Pens are trying to tank is laughable.
Anyway, saw that the New Jersey Devils picked up Andrei Loktionov for a 5th rounder. Damn, and I just released him a week or two ago for Jake Muzzin. He's for the most part a finesse style offensive player. Doesn't play a physical game or execute the best defense. Nor is he consistent in the O-zone. So he will have to make it on their top six or most likely pack his bags for the KHL next year. The favourable thing for him, is that he stayed in North America to play in Manchester (Los Angeles' farm system) to show his invested interest in the NHL, and developing on their terms vs. taking a higher pay grade and playing in his homeland. I like it, it's a cheap experiment that may pay dividends for the Devs. I just wished I would have executed more patience with him. That's of course, if he plays well for his new NHL team.
