Re: 2013 NHL Season

Turned on the game saw MAF was in goal....figured things must have been going good for Boston. :lol

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Yikes to tonight's game thus far. Just yikes. I did NOT see this game turning out the way it has. It ain't over yet though.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

That 3rd goal by the Bs was a thing of beauty and on the flip side pure defensive incompetence by the Pens.

The 4th goal on MAF was shaky at best.

I couldnt stop laughing

Poor Flower and so typical, huge momentum shift and he lets in the first shot

Wont hang any of this on him or Vokoun

Malkin, Crosby, Neal and Iginla all playing like bags of ****.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

3 for Vokoun, 3 for Fleury. Who starts Game 3 Disco Dan?

Can't complain about a thing with this one. Great game start to finish.:)

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Easily the ugliest game of hockey of seen played by any team this year

The Pens should embarassed from top down, especially disco Dan, completely out coached by Claude

Kudos to the Bruins for playing a clean and well executed hockey game from all angles.

This series if over, this Pens team does not have that comeback in them.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

:rotfl

It happened to the Canucks!:lecture

Only difference is the Canucks didn't have 3 former Captains on their roster. 3 former scoring champs. They had two. lol And they didn't have a a defenseman like Letang. Okay, so he pinches and gets in on the O, but is **** on the D in this round.... meh... But I see the comparisons.

In the end, Pens > Canucks. I like both teams.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

If the Pittsburgh Penguins want to win at least one game this series against the Boston Bruins, they need to do exactly what I said from day 1... play disciplined hockey. As an aforementioned poster explained, play with structure. Focus on shutting down their top guys like they have with ours. Make certain guys like Krejci and Horton are covered. Eliminate their scoring chances by cutting down on their scoring and passing lanes. If they can frustrate our top guys, we can frustrate theirs. Also Crosby has to play like the best player in the world. Not be careless... For a guy with so much drive and will to win, he played very carelessly out there. That give-away pass that converted into a Marchand goal was not Sidney-isque at all. I have never seen him play with so much ignorance ... your team usually follows by its leader and best player. When 87 is in the lineup it seems as though the team lives and dies by what he does. Notice when he's not in the games, how the team dynamic changes?

It seems as though the team is watching for what Crosby says or does and goes with the idea he has the answer. I have seen this team play so well without him. Elevate their games to substitute not having the best hockey player in the world in their lineup. I suppose one would get the impression that I am selling him as a bad captain, but playing the way he has in these playoffs is poor captain behaviour. I get that you can't always win, and even the greats of yesteryear, Gretzky, Lemieux, and Orr were effected by early playoff exits, but when your team is this close, and has so much depth and is strong in almost every facet of the game, you should not get rattled the way he has, take stupid penalties (here's looking at you Malkin), or make careless plays that change the dynamic of a game. You're not a rookie anymore.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

There seems to be a lot of frustration amongst Pens fans when it comes to Dan Blysma. If the team loses this series, do you fire him? Ray Shero gave him a Stanley Cup calibre roster. A team that possesses 3 former scoring champions, 3 captains, and players at every other level/quality, with depth throughout, one would think he would have a better handle on his team. He doesn't seem to have his boys in line. It seems as though Crosby is the leader of this team on the ice, bench, and off the ice.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

It's genuinely confusing. I didn't think the Penguins would go further than the ECF, simply due to weak goaltending.

But I thought they'd at least be losing some high scoring games, hell even a 4-2 or 5-3 type loss. The Pens appear to just have nothing right now.

So I do think a lot of that comes down to coaching. I could forgive Bylsma if, like I said, goaltending was the only reason. But so far this round, it's not.

I don't think the goaltending is weak (well not when it comes to Vokoun), but it definitely needs to be better than it has been these past two games. It's not only goaltending. It's the defence and offence. You're not going to beat teams like Boston averaging .5 goals per game. It's a team thing. Goaltending is just one issue which can resolve itself if the rest of the team gets their **** together.
