Re: 2013 NHL Season

Nah i stole it. I thought it was just too funny to not share

Re: 2013 NHL Season

I don't think the goaltending is weak (well not when it comes to Vokoun), but it definitely needs to be better than it has been these past two games. It's not only goaltending. It's the defence and offence. You're not going to beat teams like Boston averaging .5 goals per game. It's a team thing. Goaltending is just one issue which can resolve itself if the rest of the team gets their **** together.

I should somewhat correct my post - Vokoun was much more solid than I expected. Although I do think a good amount of that was Ottawa making him look better. Or also, like you said, the team in front of him helping him out by simply being competent.

I didn't watch much of game 1, so I can't comment on those goals. But two of the three last night weren't bad goals for Vokoun. The second goal, where he was apparently trying to use the force to control the rebound was a real stinker, though.

But then Fleury comes in, lets in a weak one, and ends the game on a terrible goal... I think Vokoun has to go back in for game 3.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

I thought it was pretty certain that Vokoun was pulled to wake his team up. Nothing more. Vokoun should definitely be back in net for game 3

Re: 2013 NHL Season

I'll likely be wrong but I see the Hawks winning again tonight.

Are there even any legit Kings fans on these boards?

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Quick is my favorite goalie, but I'm not really a Kings fan. They're probably my default Western favorite, though.

Richards didn't make the morning skate. If he's out again, that's trouble for LA, even at home.

Re: 2013 NHL Season

Their seems to be a lot of frustration amongst Pens fans when it comes to Dan Blysma. If the team loses this series, do you fire him? Ray Shero gave him a Stanley Cup calibre roster. A team that possesses 3 former scoring champions, 3 captains, and players at every other level/quality, with depth throughout, one would think he would have a better handle on his team. He doesn't seem to have his boys in line. It seems as though Crosby is the leader of this team on the ice, bench, and off the ice.

They lose 4 straight and you fire him

Someone is to blame for this complete disaster and like you said dont think he actually has a handle on this team. With this talent there should be a game plan that is executed. The Pens are all over the place.

I heard it could be either man at this point. It should be Vokoun, but so far (and don't feed me to the lions), but with the way Vok's been playing I wouldn't be surprised if it's 29 between the pipes. At this point, I still say you gotta put TV in. Word has it that MAF is the goto guy for Game 3. Eeeeesh.

I agree, you fire him despite a Stanley Cup and a brilliant regular season record resume. He'll find work else where. I do like DB a lot. He comes off like a good character guy, despite the fact he comes off mondane and monotone with the media. lol

But you can't have a team built like they are being down 0-2 in their own building and being outscored 9-to-1. It's not like they have been close games. This series has been a team of men facing a team of boys. And we're the older team of the two. Something has to give. Unfortunately that means Disco Dan is on the way out. He takes us to a game 7, and makes things look interesting, then it makes the decision much more difficult. A sweep should mean Shero calls up DB the very next day and says, "Pack your bags buddy. Thanks for the Cup, but everyone has their time in the Sun or in this case, the igloo."

Potentially speaking of course, it must suck something hard to be canned from being in such a great situation as coaching the Penguins.

Couldnt agree more, I like Disco also but if those goes from bad to worse tomorrow, his time is over unfortunately

I think TV gets the nod tomorrow, the team has no confidence with MAF in there

How does one get to be as cool as Clarence?

Re: 2013 NHL Season

I wonder if the Penguins will ever win a cup again...

Now whether your question is serious or not, I'll give you my thoughts on that Bodie 2.0...

Absolutely they can and should. In 2008 when the Penguins lost to the Red Wings, my friends said they would never win another Cup. One year later, being down 2 games in that series they won the Cup. All the core guys on this team are in their mid 20's, so yes, I definitely see another Cup for Sid and Co.

And I wouldn't write off their chances this year. They have come back down from 2 game series deficits in multiple series and once against, yup... even Boston. Will history repeat itself? Here is hoping! :)

Re: 2013 NHL Season

As long as Sidney Crosby stays healthy though right? Doesn't he get hurt often?
