Re: Nintendo 3DS

This and the MGS3 game are the reasons I want a 3DS so badly.

I can see getting excited for nostalgia purposes. But the the lack of original titles at launch, the flimsy and poor design choices, and me not being sold on the 3D capabilities have me holding out here.

I wish we had some original titles instead of all of these rehashed ports with 3D slapped on them.

This is why I don't have it pre-ordered right now. I'm just going to wait until the Zelda game gets released. Maybe there'll be a special Japanese import system bundle.

Yeah if you're not particularly interested in submarines and AR games there isn't much at launch in terms of original IP, so waiting is probably the best choice for you.

As for the supposed flimsiness, so far from all of the reviews I've read and impressions from people who've already had the Japanese 3DS for a week now, I hear of no issues with the hinge. It's only Kotaku's reviewer so far and at the moment he only remarks on a possible issue, so there isn't one right now.

What flimsy and poor design choices? Dude the system itself is beautiful.

I think Starkiller may be referring to the hinge. The Kotaku review I posted a few pages ago comments on the possible issue of floppy hinges (that affect a lot of DS Lites).

3DS systems are region locked! Just an fyi.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

I think we'll eventually get a Zelda themed 3DS over here. It happened for the DS. It probably won't happen in time for Ocarina of Time, but you can cross your fingers for a Majora's Mask 3DS bundle.

:drool :drool That would be hot. I'm thinking about taking advantage of Amazon's trade and play program with our 2 DS'. I've got 2 that are pretty much collecting dust right now, and Amazon is giving $50 for each.

Awww, if Nintendo remake Majora's Mask for the 3DS then I'll be the happiest I've probably ever been (sort of). I'm already picturing looking up at that menacing moon in 3D and slobbering like an idiot. :drool

Totally. It would look so cool to go into first person mode, look up and see that moon just looking at you with that menacing grin in 3D... Oh!

I see no reason not to trade them in if collecting gaming hardware isn't a hobby or if you don't need the backward compatibility with Gameboy Advance games.

Eurogamer has first English reviews of a few 3DS launch games:

Super Street Fighter IV 3D 8/10

Pilotwings Resort 8/10

Ridge Racer 3D
8/10

Hmm as expected. Still gonna pick up SSFIV and mabey Pilotwings...:)

Re: Nintendo 3DS

That's understandable. But! If you don't pick up the game during it's first printing you'll miss out on this limited edition box with swank lenticular 3D cover. :lol

Cool. It's too bad that they didn't have any games for you to play. What's up with that? Pretty silly to me.

The one good thing about the U.S. launch date being a Sunday is that it's my day off from work. I'm going to spend all day with the 3DS unless someone nags me to do something. :D

Awesome!!! :monkey2 I'll use this to impress my friends at launch!

Just 3 weeks away...
