So theres no way of controlling it from the TV? Thats odd. Will take awhile to get used to this new gaming feature. :lol

That's it.
This is a new style of presenting a menu. It'll take some time before we all get use to it.

The funny thing is (and I haven't done this yet)... when I go back to playing an Xbox 360 game, I'm going to look down at the controller expecting to find something to select. :lol

I'm going to wait until some more good games come out before buying a Wii U. It looks to me like the new Mario game is the only great launch title. I can't wait for the big hitters though. New 3D Mario, Zelda, Metroid and SSB. :clap

Has anyone tried to play online yet? It's time for Nintendo to finally have some good online play.

After 3.5 hours of updating, setting up and transfering my Wii data I'm finally starting a game. This thing is really awesome so far. I agree with the previous poster that I did most of everything from the gamepad. This thing may seem silly if looked at from the outside but the Gamepad is epic when it is your system and you are doing most everything from it without the TV.

To be honest, for the first few hours that I played with the system, I had a case of buyer's remorse. But then I took the gamepad with me to the bathroom and played an hd game while on the toilet.

$350 well spent.

Seriously though, once I started playing NSMBU and Zombi U, the regret faded away. Oh and I recommend you guys go onto the Eshop and buy Nano Assault Neo. It is an awesome shooter like Super Stardust or geometry wars.

They system does have a lot of problems though. Miiverse still won't connect for me, the OS is kinda slow when switching apps, and I've been hearing that a lot of 3rd party launch games have a glut of technical issues, so I won't be buying Batman, Ninja Gaiden, Epic Mickey 2, ME3 SE, and so on.

I swear I had some major issues with ZombiU yesterday. On my third time playing it seemed like some of the audio out of the center channel was missing. When I killed zombies I never heard the smack of the weapon or them dying. I heard the background noises and a few swings but that was it. It also took FOREVER to load up. Strange and scary. I had something similar happen to my first launch Xbox 360 with COD2 and it was the system crapping out. Hopefully it's just the game being screwy.

Seems my area has lots of standard models just sitting day one - not sure if this is gonna hit Wii like numbers from casuals, but congrats to those that did get their new Wii-U

ZombiU is getting scores all across the board. 3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9/10. The consensus seems to be that the design is very unforgiving and iffy so that most will probably hate it but some will really enjoy the return to true survival horror.

Batman AC, Destructoid said that the game was ok for those who only have a WiiU but that the version is inferior to 360/PS3 because of tacked on gamepad gimmicks that hinder gameplay.

Mario and Nintendo Land seem to be getting fair/good reviews across the board.

Everybody outside of the US still waiting for the Wii U launch should feel better than we here are practically the beta testers. Nintendo will probably iron out the kinks by the time it launches in other regions. :lol

They need to iron out the OS menu load times like now. It's irritating as ****!

Agreed, get those kinks worked out. I'm contemplating selling off my deluxe system already. Retail for anyone who wants it.

Miiverse is working great today. I've been playing the system for an hour now and never turned on the TV. I'm even posting this from the gamepad now.

Awesome. Thinking about picking up the basic set. Always wanted to purchase a console at launch. I plan on playing games heavy during christmas break.

Yeah now that it's working for me, it's really great. I spent an hour just going around reading posts, commenting on stuff.

Some of the artwork people have been posting is just incredible, for a screen that isn't very conducive to detailed drawing.

btw I noticed your my little pony art. :lol

Debating on picking one up or not. It looks like they are pretty available around here.

Have you tried one in person? I recommend going to a kiosk first. If you do decide to get one and change your mind, you can probably sell it off easy enough without loss even once opened.

If you have a Deluxe to sell, you'll have no problem as I would imagine there would be a lot of takers.

The Walmarts, Targets, and ToysRUs stores here are completely wiped out of the Deluxe model.

I can't believe they are even offering the basic bundle at all. Given the fact that you end up with 3 gigs of memory after the update, no game included, and no charging cradle for the controller, what's the purpose of the basic set?

$50 dollars more for a $60 game, a $20 accessory, and 22 more gigs of memory...it's a no brainer! :dunno

And that charging cradle really is a nice extra in the delux package. The controller goes on and comes off so easily. It might have been a different story if you had to snap it on and off each time to charge it.
