Where would you guys get one if you were trying to get one for Christmas?
Amazon is all out of stock so I was thinking maybe the local Best Buy...

I got a deluxe at Best Buy on Tuesday night since I had a $100 gift card to use. They had a couple of the deluxe sets and multiple (10+) basic sets.

I also had good luck using Target's website to see if they have them in store. It seemed pretty accurate last week anyway. I stopped at a couple stores that said they had them available and they were in the stores on the shelf. Select the find in store and pop in your zip code, then call around. Link is for the deluxe but I have been seeing the basic set all over the place. Basic set is in stock on Target.com for shipping as well.

The only reason I can see someone buying the basic set is if they ran out of the Deluxe or because the Deluxe wasn't available. Get it while you can.

So far, none, but the thing updates itself since it's hooked up to the network.

It's done that once to me already since I purchased it on release day.
For what it's worth, the system was flawless even before the update was downloaded.

Thanks, I still have it in the box waiting for Christmas. Was wondering if it had problems and if a new batch will be coming out. Just picked up Super Smash Bros. anyone played that on the Wii U yet?

Oh and I bought the Batman game too on Black Friday for $50 and got a Batman pad case.

The system does an initial update that takes a looong time, especially on Christmas day.

Yeah I heard about the first time update. I didn't even think about it during Christmas day.

The head of Nintendo of America said recently that they'll be ready for Christmas, but I dunno how much stock I put into that. Launch day was pretty rough, and the initial update clocks in at over a gig, so even if all systems are go, you're gonna be waiting a while.

Just about every game has a day 1 update as well, so be ready for that.

Not even. If the Deluxe set sold out I'd just wait for it to come back. I'm not going near the Basic Set.

You can download the update in the background. Just say no at the initial update pop up.

It's a gamble, but it's probably best to wait until a game is released that you must have.
