There you go!
Super Mario Bros U is a safe investment. Your whole family will enjoy it.
While your 4-year old is controlling Mario with the Wii remote (not included so buy at least one if you haven't already), you can use the gamepad and place platforms in all the pits and holes by simply touching the screen with the stylus. Your son will enjoy the game more if he's not falling in the pits all the time.
Arkham City's best version is on the Wii U, at least that's what I read somewhere. Or was that in a dream...[/QUOTE]
It was a dream. The Wii U version was criticised for how it used the gamepad. Which is the only difference to the console games, especially as the GOTY edition is half the Wii U price as it is.

Holy **** look at 1min 15 on the kotaku video. Wii U doesnt even load the textures. jesus christ thats bad.
Perhaps it was a dream and I'm not here to defend any console in any way. I'll leave that to the fanboys and continue to enjoy games on multiple platforms.

My son is 4, so Super Mario is a must (he's a Mario-head)... Epic Mickey 2 is a strong possibility... Kinda want Arkham for myself.
Mass Effect 3 for WII U will be mine on boxing day.
Never played Mass Effect and am dying to try. I'm looking forward to the comic intro too. Saves me the time of having to play the two older Mass Effect games.
Just so you know, Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U isn't getting the Leviathan or Omega DLC. There's at least one more big DLC coming to the game too in the future that I think it's safe to assume won't come to the Wii U version either. Just a heads up.
Also, you're missing out by not actually playing Mass Effect 1 and 2. Incredible games, bro!
Thanks for the heads up. Though I have been playing games my whole life, I still consider myself a novice or casual gamer and I just don't have time to begin the series from the beginning. Having the comic intro will get me right into the story like I was hoping. Also once complete, I rarely go back into a game and thus, rarely take advantage of downloadable content. Still, there is always a chance I might pick up the trilogy on ps2 and play through the whole thing. It's just VERY unlikely.
Id still say an Xbox or ps3 is better in general; all the cross-console games are cheaper, better, ironed out on those consoles, youve got an extensively large catalogue of games to cater for all tastes, ontop of having franchises which you will never have played. Also, even if the new xbox/Playstation comes out next year, you have 7 years worth of videogames, 7 years worth of fantastic new franchises, established franchises and indy games at such rock bottom prices, youll get at least 4 years out of one of those consoles.
That is, so long as you can live without mario or Zelda which theres nothing coming out good for what, 2 years at least? In that time, the Wii U would be fine tuned, games would be cheaper, 3rd party support hopefully would be much better (though i wouldnt hold my breath with the next generation of consoles coming out), they might be able to utilise a 2nd gamepad and then youll have a good catalogue of games to play.
Thats how im going to treat the PS4; give it two years, iron out the problems, gain a catalogue of decent games, save my money, then buy one when the price will start to come down and things are ontop of it.
On a personal level, I cant fathom in the slightest why anyone would buy a Wii U yet. There are no games worthy until at least 2014, re-releases at £50 a pop which on the already established consoles are half that price (arkham city GOTY, AC3 are £25 in tesco new). Until I see a proper Kirby game, or some form of actual in depth Mario kart game without the same crap tracks, same crappy karts. It needs alot of kart customisation; make your own kart using parts you unlock like Mario wheels, heavy bowser frames for handling, lighter yoshi frames for accelleration stuff like that, track creation. Its stale since 2005. Also, a new zelda which isnt a god damn remake. A new, fresh story is required. Thats why im keeping a heavy eye on the Wii U. I wouldnt mind having one just to say ive owned one, but unless theres something worth the £340 with Zombiu is the price, thats $550 it equates too. You can get a top of the range PS3 for £280 with 4 top games and a blu ray and a headset and a second controller. Otherwise, a standard PS3 is only £180. Xbox is even cheaper.
I just dont grasp the concept of the WiiU, its only audience can be the people who unfortunatly stuck with a wii u from 2005-2012 and somehow managed to live with 5 games.
But until then, pennies are staying in my pocket. Thats a lie. its going towards a cold air intake. But you get the jist.
^^ Maybe they'll make a My Little Pony game for you.
Hopefully one day.
That's a lot of words just to say, "I don't like Nintendo consoles".

...Secondly, it's the best local multiplayer machine out there.
There's tons of reasons, but the top one is that it's fun. Secondly, it's the best local multiplayer machine out there.

Oh and having all my old Wii Virtual Consoles Games on my Wii U is a bonus as well. SO glad Big N made it an option.
