This is actually pretty interesting and I will definitely look into it. I've missed some games that belong to Nintendo. And since I don't have a wii anymore, this may work for me.

I think Nintendo's biggest F-up was that they didn't show the whole damn thing. They didn't even say much about the graphics it can put out either. Most people I'm sure were wondering just what I was in that it looked to be just an add on of the Wii.

They should have shown some 3DS stuff and then revealed the Wii-U completely while explaining its power. Instead they decided to confuse the hell out of everyone and leave us wondering what the hell this thing is.

Nintendo didn't show major games for the system because they don't have any right now. Third party developers were really pissed when the Wii was announced because they didn't have any prior infor on the machine and didn't have time to develop launch games. Since Nintendo actually cares about third party support this time, they have chosen to show it to developers early. As such, information about the wii-u leaked awhile back and Nintendo really couldn't ignore an announcement. That and it really builds hype to show the system early.

As for explaning the power of the system, Nintendo never does that. You probably won't hear too much about specs from them.

Honestly, I was impressed with the concept video and am more excited about this than anything else in video games right now. Of course, I remember feeling similarly about the Wii and after a few cool wii parties, the appeal wore off.

They are saying that currently the system can only use one tablet/controller at a time. They will not sell them seperately.

Where have you seen that?

Edit: never mind. I saw the kotaku article.

Not this i didnt expect, it turns the hd third party game shown at the wii booth were actually ps3 and 360 games.

The system is more than a year away. I thought it was obvious they were using footage from the other platforms. Game companies use PC-rendered footage all the time when showing trailers and footage of their PS3/360 games. Not a big deal.

The more hands-on footage of the Wii-U I watch, the more excited by all the new possibilities it's controller could bring to gaming. Being able to do one thing on the smaller screen, lift it up and then have it instantly become an extension of what's being played on your tv is very interesting.

^^ yeah but wasnt it advertised as or implied to be in-game footage? i mean alot of trailers show cutscene cinematics that arent even in the final game but thats different as its not meant to be in-game footage.

If nintendo wasnt ready to show footage they shouldnt have shown any, or at least had a disclaimer stating "Not related to Wii U technology"

They aren't selling the controller separately? What happens when the first person cracks their controller screen? Or the idiot who still tries to use it like a Wii controller and completely destroys their computer screen?

That one segment with the golf did have them putting the controller on the floor with no sort of protection..

There is an article on CNN about how Nintendo's stock has dropped since showing of the new system. Apparently there is concerns on where it will fit in the market once released.

There have been many instances though for when a company announces a new product and the stock drops, even for very successful products (like many Apple products)

Agreed, apparently it was the reaction from the Japanese market that has impacted the decrease the most.

I was a little surprised by the that as the system at least got a strong reaction at the show.

Like darthviper said, it happens all the time, especially with tech companies. Any time there is a new product announcement or an earnings call, the stock drops.

Of course. People don't want to buy a new system, invest in the games, only to have a new one come out. I completely understand. But it's also how the gaming world works. One system comes out, a new one is on the horizon.

imo the console is relevant now......12 months from now? dunno

you gotta imagine microsoft or sony will hint at a new console next year for a 2013 release, so who is gonna by a nintendo for just a year?

I would imagine that people that want it will still buy it regardless. I know I will.
