After the critical success that was Kirby's Epic Yarn, Nintendo is releasing a new Kirby soon...

I can't remember the last time two Kirby games were released on one console.

This one is being developed by HAL, so it's gonna be a "proper" Kirby title, not that there was anything wrong with Yarn... :rock

The true successor.

Price drop: $149.99 USD https://www.engadget.com/2011/05/04/nintendo-drops-wii-price-to-150-from-may-15th-throws-in-a-free/

The newly priced Wii is also bundled with Mario Kart Wii + wheel.

Also, Nintendo announced a 'Wii Select' (budget/greatest hits) labeling and pricing for some games.

Some select titles:

Existing Wii packages (Wii Sports Resort/Motion + bundle) will also see price reductions. So you'll have a choice.

If I didn't already have a Wii and both Mario Kart and Wii Sport Resort. I'd go with the Mario Kart bundle over the latter any day.

I have Nintendo Wii.I got it in 2008.Im not sure if Im getting Nintendo Wii 2 next year.

Building a Wii Console

Would really appreciate any help, advice, or suggestions on this. Not too much into Wii and thought I'd ask the experts here. Visited the Wii forums, but they talk :horror and I am like :monkey3
~

Ok, planning to buy a Wii for missus. Wanted to get an idea about what all should I buy to build a fairly nice console. I am getting this ('What's in the box' below):

nintendo_wii_1.jpg

- 1 Nintendo Wii Game Console
- 1 Wii Motion Plus Controller
- 1 Nunchuk Controller
- Original Wii Sports DVD containing 5 Games
- 1 Wired Sensor Bar
- 1 Power Cord
- 1 Standard Composite Cable
- 1 Console Manual

Thinking of getting another remote and the steering wheel. But need an answer for questions like: Is MotionPlus really necessary? Should I get the Tennis bat? This or that, etc.? Would be a Great Help folks, if I could get some answers.

Definitely get another remote, but the steering wheel isn't that necessary.
Motion plus helps, as it makes the remote more accurate and avoids frustrating "glitches/lag" due to how the original remotes are built.
You can also pass on the tennis bat. IMO, all those attachments are only there to show off or to milk people for more money. You won't be looking at your hands while playing. It comes naturally.

Getting the Wii FIT would be the way to go.
That way, you can have fun, excessive, and monitor your progress all at the same time. When you see the lbs start to melt off your wife, you'll be wondering why you didn't get one sooner.

This is all speaking from experience of course.
Results may vary. :wink1:

Re: Building a Wii Console

I'd skip getting the Wii--there's no new games coming out and they'll have the Wii U coming out later this year.

Thanks a lot darthviper. Am thinking of buying something within a couple of days, hence the hurry :) Else, I would've got the Wii u. As an alternative, I thought I'd go for XBox 360 4gb one, but then wifey likes games like tennis and bowling and sims (whatever that is), etc. so I thought Wii would be the best choice.

Thanks for all the suggestions FACEBOX! The Wii FIT sounds cool. Will definitely get that. Got the idea about the bat and the wheel thing. Was thinking of the wheel though, for when you have to 'drive' a car, wouldn't that work better?

Re: Building a Wii Console

If you can find a copy of monster hunter tri, it's a pretty solid game on the wii with decent graphics, the special edition came with the classic controller for just slightly more money, made it a decent purchase. It's been out for a while but I've seen some copies still hanging about.

My wife enjoys her Wii fit. We've never bought any of the add on gadgets for the controlers, but she's eyeing the paintbrush for epic mickey (another fun little game you can pick up fairly cheap).

Wii is at the end of it's life, and I really don't see the wii u extending it much considering the negative feedback it recieved at the initial showing. Xbox may be better, but considering their record for supporting older systems, they dumped the xbox a soon as the 360 came out, I wouldn't buy it now. If I was investing in a better machine, I'd wait a year. A wii is a cheap system now, so even if it comes out new in a year, you're not out of pocket to much.

Re: Building a Wii Console

Thanks a lot guys, for all the help!

Did some research on my own over the weekend and learnt about modding and stuff. Guess I'll finally go for the black Wii with Sports Resort. :wave

Honestly, the Wii is an absolute waste of money. If you buy it, I'm really, REALLY sure you'll end up regretting it.

Pick up a 360 instead. It has a much larger catalogue of games, as well as the Kinect for gimmicky games like bowling (the novelty of which quickly wears off). The Wii has about three or so absolute must-have games, and that's it.

And this is from a lifelong Nintendo fanboy, lol. Don't waste your money, really. Get a 360.

Asking here isn't really going to get you much help, this forum is mostly filled with 360 fanboys.

To answer your questions:

- Yes, get a second remote. Many Wii games are best enjoyed with a second player.

- The only game I've ever needed Motion Plus for was The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. There might be more games out there that require it, but this is the only game I've personally owned that required it.

- Don't bother with any goofy plastic add-on accessories. With the exception of the steering wheel, they usually just get in the way of playing.

- Don't buy a steering wheel. Buy Mario Kart, which comes with a steering wheel.

If Nintendo is what you want, then get a Wii. There are a ton of great games for the system, and most can be gotten for cheap. If you're not totally settled on the Wii, then please check more than just this place for opinions and information.
