Mikey I sympathize completely. I think both this thread AND the No Armor thread should be made to go away. Also I would love to see any antogonizing posts deleted or locked. Both sides, Freaks and MediKommies need to stop egging the other on. Both are making products for their respective markets. There will always be good and bad, but for the love of all things plastic let a dead horse die.

EDIT: And before anyone accuses me of wanting this forum to become all hugs and puppies, I would like to say I love healthy, responsible, ADULT debate.

...having these three big guns are the reason why SS's other products are decreasing in popularity. But would you agree that the human-likeness on most of the product made by Sideshow in the Buffy category are great? IMO, they do. They are decreasing in popularity not because of faulty likeness but because of Sideshow's central concentration of these 3 big names.
Not to mention Buffy went off the air years ago and really are there any other figures that they could do that are not re-hashes of old figures?

i'm sure that if Sideshow acquires more current T.V. show or movie licenses, I'm sure that the selling point and demand would be high, i.e. the LOTR by SS/Weta.

That is the thing about SS, they like to get licenses that have been long gone from T.V. or its popularity are deminished.

I think the Buffy well is pretty much dried up guys. I'm sure they could do every iteration of every character like the 6" line, but it'd be kind of downhill after the phenominal releases we've already gotten. What we have now is a very respectable high-quality collection. I don't think we could reasonably ask for more.

I don't think anyone here wants ONLY Medicom. I feel more hostility coming towards comments when they say something positive about Medicom, OR something critical of SS. I don't mean critical in an "It Sucks" sense, but in constructive sense. Anyone to say any of these companies (HT too) sucks is ignorant, but I honestly don't see a lot of "SS Sucks" comments, it usually is more "Lets hope for progress" thing. Medicom and HT don't need as much progress as SS does right now. RIGHT NOW.

That's NOT a negative comment, it's a fair and critical one. But, prior to this particular conversation, if I were to say something like that I'd get a few too many straight out hostile responses. I was once asked "Did Sideshow kill your dog too?" after saying something fair and critical about SS, that's a bit much. I'm ONLY speaking for myself here, but I'm just saying:

A-I don't think I ever said anything critical about SS that was unwarranted
B-I love all 3 companies, and just want the best from SS by my critical comments.

That's just what I've observed though. And there's also a note about joking around. My Aragorn comment? Come on, that's funny! Look at that dumb picture, I mean we know that the figure looks better than that. It just makes me laugh.

:clap :clap I agree fully. What do we call someone who likes both companies and HT though since there's nifty nicknames involved?

Perhaps the biggest problem people have with Medicom is the prices. I'll never buy any of their figures because they are way too expensive. I like Vader, Stormtroopers, Clones and whatnot (not the Luke, sorry) and I'd like to buy them, but even at $100 they wouldn't be worth it.

And I'm tired of people arguing.

I have no issues with constructive criticism. My issue is that the proceedings inevitably turn snide and unpleasant. It usually happens around the same time that criticism slides into comparitive posts between the two companies and their respective products. I prefer criticism as it relates to each piece, not as it compares to a completely unrelated product made by another company.

I agree, my big problem is a thread that goes

"This is great"
"Sure is"
"Not as good as this" than it starts. It happens, and I just try never to be involved. Because how can you win a debate over opinions?

In this case though, this is how I see it. The "No Armor" thread? Perfectly acceptable because it's ABOUT SS and what they said. Why not discuss? But this one seemed like a retaliation, for something that wasn't an attack. It was kind of out of no where.

It really happens because there's a handful of people on each side of the issue that like pushing each other's buttons. It's not a debate, both sides know they are not going to change the other's opinions. It's just a good old fashion slap fight... over dolls.

If you are repsonding to me then I must have hit a nerve and that means that you must think you that you were one of those I was talking about. I named no names and will not but those who fit the category know who they are.

Yes there have been a lot of SS sucks comments as well as Medicom sucks comments. I am not going to dig them up but they are there. I know that there are people here who do not collect SS SW 1/6 figures or no longer do, those are the ones I question their intentions of posting here.

....to be honest, Medicom create great figures but not human likeness-wise which is what I look for primarily. I will give it to them the Wolvie, Bauer and maybe Sparrow, sorry but not Luke. Their costume figs are top-notch no doubt. But, are they $100 worth? IMO, no. I think that is the biggest drawback about Medi and Hot-toys.

Uh... NO. The nose is laughably bad for starters.
From this angle, maybe.

Either way, I like both, so I'm not choosing sides, though I will tell you what I like and dislike about both:

Like:

Medicom:
1. Very detailed
2. Much more articulated than the average Hasblow 12" figure(SSC Figure, for that matter).
3. Have an ARMORED Vader that is perfect in representation
4. Are VERY good with their armored figures, and SOME of their human and masked-human figures face-sculpts(Neo, Trinity, Burned Vader, OT Vader, Comic Spiderman, Movie Wolverine...)

Sideshow:
1. Again, very detailed.
2. Much more articulated than Hasblow's 12" Figures
3. Faithful-to-Somewhat-Faithful representation of characters
4. Nice paint-apps, though not by much(Eyes, hair, lips...)

Dislike:

Medicom:
1. PRICE! Christsakes, what are these? The second coming of Christ?
2. Paint apps on their figure's faces stink. They're wayyyyy too pale( IE; Wolverine, Trinity, Neo, Jedi Luke...) .
3. ROTS Vader's hands are a failure on Medi's part. They should have custom made them with pegs and all so that they'd stay on better.
4. Height can be alittle taller, but what can I say? It's a different company from SSC...
5. Their base bodies could be sturdier(Neo, Comic Spiderman)

Sideshow:
1. Their base bodies need an update. Keep the height, add the articulation, basically.
2. Their eye and hair paint apps suck(Obi-Wan, Mace, Qui-Gon, Maul, Sith Anakin...)
3. Packaging and Shipping could be A LOT better, since I keep hearing of people needing to send back their figure's box because it got dented or smashed.
4. Shouldve made ARMORED Vader after Jedi Luke. I wouldve sacrificed most of the SSC Figures after Luke just so Vader would be made. And to quote Lucas:"Star Wars is the story of DARTH VADER." He's a much more major character than 'Pause and go seek' characters or frog dogs. Those didn't necessarily need to be made right away.
5. Like Medicom, their base bodies could be sturdier.

All in all, both companies are absolutely NOT without their own faults, IMHO.

But I still like their products! :D

Just responding, no nerve hit

I don't think I fit the "catagory" anyway,

I agree too, if you just sit here and blindly say "SS SUCKS" than get the hell out.

I say, if you just blindly say any of these companies suck though, get out, what's the point? SS distros them all anyway, theys makin' da money! Plus for ANYONE to say ANY 3 of them sucks blindly, should just go collect something else.

It's just where did THIS particular thread come from? What was the main point? The Armor thread was a discussion about a quote form SS about their figures and the progress they're making. This seemed kind of unwarranted though.

Its because that thread became pretty much a SS bashing. So I am guessing it brings up the opposite point about Medicom.

I mean as far a SW (which is mostly all I care about) Medicom makes good Armor figures(but to steep for me) and SS makes good Human/Aliens. We have no idea how SS armor figures will look and we have only a few Human/Aliens from Medicom, and from what I have seen of Luke its worse then the SS Luke and I am guessing was probally nearly triple the price.

To be fair, from my observation most snide comments come from a few individuals towards medicom, which usually happens in a completely civil thread. From that point on it goes downhill.

Did you not hear they are working on their headsculpts until they can get them perfect because so many people have complained about Luke.

That's not hard to do. Just hire Trev or Andy and voila, perfect head sculpt! :rock

LOL this post reeks of jealousy from the poster.(and stupidity i could point out facts but it's just not worth my time)Just like when the RAH clone came up for preorder,he had to make a thread about passing on it cause the one main clone thread was busy.

Weak!!! and it shows.
Evil slams medicom every chance he gets it's no new news here,(but he'll tell you he likes the rocketeer)ignore him

Like I say, Everyone looks for different things in what they buy that's why we have opinions. For me I dont mind if the headsculpt is a bit "idealized" I see it as a different approach, not a flaw. And Medicom can do great Human likenesses just happens to be of characters that not many ppl know about in the states. Many of SS likenesses aren't perfect either and ppl seem to brush it off but with Medicom ppl just dont seem to let it go. But as I said it's whatever is game to you. I am also used to spending big $$$ for my toys so spending 100++ to me is normal I can afford it so why not is how I see it, but I do know lots of ppl who can't imagine spending anything near that for a "toy" and there's nothing wrong with that. I feel the same way about KAWS charging $700 for a frikkin 20x20 PRINT of one of his vinyl toys but hey he's been doing them for awhile and they all sell out so obviously lots of ppl out there think it's worth it. So Again it's all relative.
