If I remember correctly Goldeneye was written for Dalton's Bond before he got replaced by Brosnan which is why its tone is more in line with the two films that preceded it than those the followed.
Yes I believe you are correct and the opening with Bond doing the jump was very much like Dalton's Bond. He was meaner in Goldeneye and I wish Brosnan's movies had kept a more serious tone and not give him some of the Moore quality puns.

Another pointless list.

My favorite Bond henchmen

1. Oddjob - Goldfinger -Perhaps the most iconic henchman
2. JAWS - The Spy Who Loved Me
3. Xenia Onatopp - Goldeneye
4. Red Grant - From Russia With Love
5. Nick Nack - The Man with the Golden Gun
6. Rosa Klebb - From Russia With Love
7. Boris - Goldeneye
8. Necros - The Living Daylights
9. Mr Hinx - Spectre
10. Baron Semedi - Live and Let Die
11. Tee Hee - Live and Let Die
12. Dr. Kaufman - Tomorrow Never Dies
13. Blofeld's Cat - Several films

Another thing that stuck out with this movie was the super solid acting across the board. Really well done on everyone's part. When the main bad guy was making his big speech to Bond I don't believe he blinked on screen once. Very cool.

Moonraker Oomph

That slo-mo boat chase was horrible in 1979.

About the only thing I liked in Moonraker was the moment Bond got pushed out of the airplane without a parachute in the opening. That was a great "now what" moment back then.

Then Jaws showed up, flapped his wings, crashed into a circus tent... and Bond changed forever.

Didn’t the spy who loved me come out just a few months after Star Wars!

Actually I bet Carly’s song was more popular that year than John Williams Star Wars theme at least for that year and I remember as a kid going to giant stadium in New Jersey in 77 to watch Pele play with the Cosmos and the spy who loved me was the team theme song all the time :rotfl

That's one of my favorite Bond themes. Also, you saw Pele play? 😯

The Craig era will also be remember for the WORST sidekick/henchmen ever!!!

Le Chiffre - Kratt
Dominic Greene - Elvis
Raoul Silva - Patrice
Ernst Blofeld - Hinx
Lyutsifer Safin - Primo

They are all interchangeable (with exception of derivative Hinx)

One thing about silly Moore, his villains had very colorful sidekicks:
Tee-Hee
Nick Nack
Jaws
May Day

That Hulk eye gag in your avatar... NTTD sidekick stole that from you!

I really don't know why they stopped with the "unusual sidekicks"... it was fun. With modern bionics tech they could actually have an interesting villain with a "metal" arm.

The best Bond villain sidekick of the past 20+ years was not in a Bond movie -- it was Gazelle in Kingsman. That was the perfect Bond villain henchperson.

I want Michael Shannon as a henchman in the reboot.

That midget from Game of Thrones would make an excellent Bond villain.

They did the midget villain already. Michael Shannon likely wouldn't play a henchman -- I don't think he'd make a good main villain.

Anthony Hopkins has always been a dream Bond villain of mine. I wish he'd do it. He'd go old school... but with that Lector edge.

Anthony Hopkins as Blofeld could be interesting.
