How about the tall woman from GOT as a henchman? She played the shiny metal trash can in the ST.

Speaking of Blofeld and villains, I watched OHMSS again on Sunday and nope, I just can't watch it. It's an ugly looking picture. Too dark, literally. It had a few good moments tho. I like when Bond was in his office and he had several souvenirs from the Connery films.

The ending, which is supposed to be serious, it actually quite hilarious. Blofeld, criminal mastermind shows up driving a car wearing a neck brace while his henchwoman riding in the back shoots at Bond in a drive-by. The ultimate sophisticated mastermind reduced to a common street gang banger. 😆 It was straight out of a 60s Superman comic with Blofeld as Lex Luthor.

I hope the next movie is called Commander Bond.

Why, you want to see his early years in the British Navy?

Its been 6 years since the last Bond. I really hope they move up their timetable. There's only so many choices out there for Bond. Let's go, make a decision, and find some new writers with a sense of fun, style and give these movies some energy, humor and some much better set pieces.

For the physical presence that Craig was, he never really fought any of his main villains -- Greene had an ax for a second (and chopped his own toe) and Safin scuffled with Bond like a girl. Hinx was the only challenge to Bond -- and that was a good fight. Craig needed more of those.

Still, the best action scene Craig ever had was his first one in Casino Royale at the construction sight chasing down the bomb maker. It's been downhill ever since.

These last ones just riffed off the old villains. I'd like to see some really interesting new takes on villains. I did like the eye in NTTD. They could have done more with it.

Speaking of silly, why do classic Bond villains treat Bond like a guest at a hotel? They feed him, give him a nice tour of the lair, and in the case of Goldfinger, he flew Bond first class, gave him all his personal belongings so he could change and clean up, gave him a tour of the place, drinks included, explained his master plan, and finally, gave Bond his best girl (*****) to spend some "quality time " with her while Goldfinger took care of business. No wonder Blofeld said **** it, let's do a drive by. 😆

I like it tho, those type of villains that are so larger than life , and yet, still in need of approval or appreciation, so they show off their hard work to Bond to impress him. I wish a Bond villain would acknowledge his infiriority complex. It's the biggest flaw that most Bond villains suffer from and why they lose. They never lose because Bond s a good secret agent. He's probably the world's worst secret agent, but the villains often feel the need complicate things. The Riddler is kind of like that too, a super genius that deep down feels inadequate, so to make up for it, he plays games with Batman until he loses when he could have won multiple times, but his own ego can't allow him to just win once. Silly.

Well, once captured, Goldfinger has Bond on display for the American agents so they won't have reason to invade his ranch. It is a very simple reasoning. Movies today are far too complicated and feel the need to over-think reality. Besides, Bond is the gentleman spy -- at least in the movies -- and at one time that was fresh and new.

The world is not enough. Elektra King is an interesting character / villain and Bond shoots her in cold blood. Sure it has Christmas Jones, but she is nice to look at it closes on a pun so bad it is epic, 'And I thought Christmas only comes once a year'. Robbie Coltrane is back and it's also Desmond Llewelyn's last performance as Q. A bad guy in Renard who can't feel pain and is also on a suicide mission, upped the stakes. Plus the personal relationship with M and King allows some actual 'acting' too. Helicopters with circularly blades, a lot to like here!

But yet it still doesn't make my personal canon for Bond films. Maybe I can re-watch it and re-consider... perhaps I was too harsh on Brosnan.

How about TND?
Never really liked it. As a follow up to GE it was very underwhelming.

As time goes on the threat of a media tycoon manipulating / making the news rather than reporting it seems to be more and more relevant but it wasn't executed in a very exciting way in TND. Perhaps they could re-do it for the modern era to cover the tech giants in silicone valley. I could get behind Bond punching out a Mark Zuckerberg / Jack Dorsey type villain.

Elliot Carver was kind of lame, he's no Alec Trevelyan. For a plot that was posing as a realistic threat it then went stupid by having Carver have a massive 'stealth' boat lol. Why would the media mogul put himself at risk and in the direct firing zone. Then you have Stamper who was almost a caricature of a henchmen, he had no intelligence and was just a brute. Again Lame. The bond girls also did very little for me. Terry Hatcher looked too old (I was young when I first saw this lol!) and think she was pregnant too whilst filming so they couldn't have her do much. Wai Lin just never appealed to me either, probably because subconsciously her character was always annoyingly lethal in bond games, being just too short to easily head shot and very accurate. The gadgets were a bit rubbish too, whoo Bond can remote control drive his car using his phone ... that's not aged well, we could probably all get an app for that now. The locations were all a bit rubbish, bland too other than the motorbike chase. I almost gave it credit for the q boat scene on the river Thames but that was from TWINE. There is barely anything memorable about it for me.

There isn't much to like here and bit of a dud which is only propped up by the awful depths that Die Another Day would plunge the franchise into later.

Been listening a lot to the Zimmer score for No Time To Die and I am really enjoying it.

What does everyone consider Brosnan’s second best movie after GE?

G Zeus, that's a tough one. :lol

The thing is, they all have things I like in them, but things I don't care for too. Ii wish I could Frankenstein TND, TWINE, and DAD into one perfect Bond film.

I pick Die Another Day as the second best. It's got decent overall action and locations like Hong Kong, Cuba, and the Ice Hotel, a prime Haley Berry, a formidable over the top main Chinise villain pretending to be British, a memorable looking henchman with diamonds on his face, and a decent female henchwoman too. It's like a modern Roger Moore film with the over the top villains and gadgets...invisible car. It also has a pretty good intro with Madona's theme. Not a great song, but the visuals are cool.

There are things I like about TWINE, but I don't like the villains or the action scenes that much. The climax is in a submarine fighting a guy who's angry because he can't get a hard on. What a pathetic villain. :lol I like that Valentin Zukovsky (Russian from Goldeneye) returned. He should have been the main villain. He could have been the best villain since Goldfinger. Instead, they kept him as a Bond allied and killed him off.

We had such similar taste in bond movies and then you had to go and say that. Do you know what time it is Mr Clown Prince of Crime... Time to die haha.

Wow did not think anyone liked Die Another Day. I remember being really hyped about it and booking to see it day one and being really disappointed. Then within the same week my school surprised us by organising a trip to see the film as a reward for something. Unfortunately I had already qualified for the reward so had to go again. I can confirm that seeing DAD twice in the cinema within a week was akin to the Casino Royale rope to balls torture... it was excruciating.

Agreed on TND... its plot has become more relevant but its execution sucked.

The best thing to come out of that movie was David Arnold's score.

I have to admit, I find DAD more watchable then the other Brosnan entries. I like Zao, I love the cars, the ice palace is preposterously grand, and I like Ms Frost... the rest is trash. I think DAD falls into the #2 slot for me, like clown, simply by process of elimination. I love Sophie in TWINE, but don't care for Renard or Christmas Jones or the plot or the action.
