Dont you have some under age girls to corrupt or is it past there bed time?

Umm... No. The gentlemen who visited Scrooge were not tax collectors. And Scrooge's conversion was one of personal accountability and responsibility, not the Obama plan of taking from group A to benefit group B.

The moral argument is the same. Does government, and the members of a society, have a responsibility to provide health care, education, etc for it's citizens? Some think yes, others think you're on your own - that if you're poor, hungry, can't pay medical bills, then go ahead and die and decrease the surplus population. Scrooge no doubt believed that his money should not be used as a hand out or a hand up to others.

This bit made me smile also:

'Mr Marley has been dead these seven years,' Scrooge replied. 'He died seven years ago, this very night.'

'We have no doubt his liberality is well represented by his surviving partner,' said the gentleman, presenting his credentials.

At the ominous word liberality, Scrooge frowned, and shook his head, and handed the credentials back.

I'm reminded of another famous fictional Republican who sadly was not redeemed. Old Man Potter from It's A Wonderful Life.

It's like a mix between McCain and Cheney. :lol I bet it was a Republican paradise when Bedford Falls was turned into Potterville.

:lol:lol:lol....no arguements left in you, now trying to take it personnal...again, typical of you Nazis.See you in 2 days...:lol

All hail the Black dude !!!!!

When I was 17 I was one of three kids in town who bought their own car and the rest had theirs bought for them by their parents.
6 months later there were three kids that hadn't crashed their cars.

I have a suggestion for those who feel some make too much. The next raise you are offered, tell the boss to give it to the janitor instead.

I wonder how many will do that.

Youre projecting your own fantasies.
No where in its a Wonderful life does it say Mr. Potter was a Republican.
Frank Capra, the director was however.

But that is exactly the point we're trying to make. "The government" and "the members of society" are not the same thing.

If the Christmas Carol story had an Obama ending, Scrooge would not have changed at all, but his money would have been taken from him against his will and given, not to help the Cratchits specifically, but to whomever the people in power deemed the most "deserving".

Umm.... Yeah sorry to burst your bubble. Obama isn't taking from the MC. A portion of the taxes paid by the top 5% of this country will be used to help ease the burden on the MC and LC. A bit of ease on me and my family would be great but seeing some of the kids that come through my room could use that ease so much more.

Again this difference between people like me is I want to help take care of others while some would just care to let them be and come to whatever ends they come to. Thats very Christian.

Once again you are incorrect. You have an irrational hatred toward "Religious Conservatives". Oh, I'm sure you will deny this, but that is typically the case when people refuse to recognize their own failings.

And, after thinking more about it, I guess I shouldn't really be all that surprised. Pitting groups against each other is exactly what Obama is banking on.

No, once again I'm totally correct. Thanks though. I don't care for Religious Conservatives because they want to poke their nose into my life and judge me. They're too busy casting stones. I'm not a perfect person and have plenty of my own faults. I accept them and everyday try to be a better person than I was the day before.

I have very strong Christian beliefs but I don't go enforcing them on others the way the Conservative Right wants to.

Pitting groups against each other is something Republicans have been the masters at for years. As well as using fear instead of talking about the issues.

I come from a middle class family that had both parents work. My first car was a 1988 Buick Century that I bought from my aunt, second car was a 1990 Buick Century I was given when my grandmother passed away, and my current car is a 2007 Pontiac G6 GT that I bought after getting my teaching job. So I too know what its like to have to earn things and appreciate that. However, there are some not as fortunate as me and no matter how hard they try won't be able to.

I want to see us do what we can to help them get to a point that they can start getting out of that hole. This way when their kids grow up they can someday buy their own car. These are the types Republicans could care less about they love the kids that mommy and daddy buy them a car.

I have no problems with people making a crap pile of cash. I just expect them to pay their fair share and have the same no loop holes that I have. So next year I won't be turning down the small raise I get from my school district. Which is not even more than the current cost of inflation cause ya know we fund education SO well.

I believe the government has the responsibility to provide certain basic cares and safety nets for its citizens, that we should look out for each other, that, to an extent, we are our brother's keeper. Others feel that everyone is on their own and it's not the government's job to help them. This is why we have elections.

And silly, don't you know A Christmas Carol already has the Obama ending? God bless us, every one! :D

That is a manipulative, specious argument, and you know it. By your ridiculous definition, if someone doesn't support the government providing all of these entitlement programs, then they are telling everyone else they are on their own. But that is not true. I am my brother's keeper. The GOVERNMENT is NOT.

But again, that is what Obama is banking on. Building up hate and distrust against the nameless, faceless other guy. He has what you think you deserve, so he is evil and you are good.

This nation is doomed.
