The Scavs were living in the same sector as Jack 49... and they saw him slowly realize there was something wrong... that's why he was special, he was "awakening", he just needed a little push.
Besides, it took Jack 52 like 3 years to "awaken" and find Julia along with the remaining Scavs...
What else do you need to know? :dunno

I didn't lol but I never tried to figure it out hard. I just went on his journey with him. Obviously things were wrong, but I never pieced it all together lol Wasns't sure what they were or what was going on at first.
Too busy loving the bad A S S drones lol
Loved those things. The sounds, the eye, the analyzing program.
Awesome mobile killing machines.

you'd know who the scavs are if you watched the trailer. LOL

i was actually looking forward for the alien/creature design...

but what we get as one of you mentioned earlier....

3D talking polygon

:lol

Why did the master computer at the end need both Jack and the girl to come to her? Why not just blow his ship up and start over with another clone?
Also, why did Jack drop off the girl in his secluded spot and not tell anybody else about it? That's messed up!
Also, why did Jacks ship have to fly through the area of all of his clones? What? The ship isn't big enough? It's the equivelant of somebody entering your house through the fridge!

I'm glad so much people are enjoying this awesome movie!

I'm hoping they release an Art of oblivion book, or something like that...
I know the original graphic novel is coming out... until next year though...

Saw a screener of this last week. Entertaining with beautiful visuals. I really like this director, and (apparently) I am one of the few that liked his previous movie.

Still, Oblivion didn't really go beyond just fun entertainment for me. (Yes, I think it could have been more.) In the end it just falls into the that realm of Alien Invasion movies where you say to yourself "Wait...why didn't the aliens just do this instead of that? If they did that instead they would have surely won."

In the case of "Oblivion", I still can't figure out why the aliens used human clones in the first place? Its not like they needed the clones in order to establish an ambassador-like relationship with the few humans remaining on Earth. So what the hell was the point of creating them in the first place? It just presented a huge risk and seems like a plot device. In other words, if you just need clones to repair and monitor your drones...then why not just create repair/monitor drones to fix the assassination drones? Obviously they have the technology to accomplish it.

Just because I liked this movie and Cruise has redeemed himself recently in my eyes and on a roll since Ghost Protocol, I'm gonna go buy Jack Reacher, Minority Report, Last Samurai and War of the Worlds Steelbooks LOL

I get that, but then that is just digging way too deep, for a movie like this. It's overall just a spring/summer big movie to see at the movies with popcorn.

I thought about that too. I think I know why, see if this makes sense to you.

The Tet was not a biological life form. It was a machine and as all machines it needs energy to power itself. My understanding is that The Tet only purpose is to charge itself so it can continue to exist. That is the purpose of those machines sucking the water. They mention in the movie they were using the water to power the reactors which in turn would power The Tet. I think The Tet just could not spare any more of it's energy to power yet more drones and other machines. They made it very clear throughout the movie that The Tet was not only trying to gather energy but also running low on resources (like parts to fix damaged drones). It's unknown if The Tet even has the ability to make more drones or other machines. My guess is that it can't which would explain why it says that it cannot afford to lose another reactor (after the humans destroyed one/nuclear explosion scene). That is why human clones would be the perfect solution. Since our only source of energy is food, the Tet would not have to spare any of it's energy or resources powering one. It would have the clones doing it's biding at no expense.

Just my two cents.

I guess that works. And while the movie doesn't need to spoon feed me the intricate details, I still think the story could have given more hints to this possibility.
Besides...they have a huge mother ship in orbit along with the resources to make and sustain millions of human clones (along with small living habitats across the globe for said clones), but they can't repair their existing drones or afford to loose another reactor...eh sure I guess.

Still a decent movie. I'll probably get it on BluRay for the directing/visuals alone.

Hope Blu ray contains deleted scenes and LOTS of art and behind the scenes-
is Ridley Scott now jealous because it looks like a film of his!
