I thought the ending was fine.
Wraps everything up, explains everything, and of course it was gonna end that way. Replace one with the other :)
Love the alien. Clean, simple design.

the trouble i have with that....

will the clones battle it out to be the ONE for the wife?

the real dilemma is...
they are all clones BUT, tech. 49 is not the same as tech. 52. tech 49 did all the heroics and rekindled the love aspect while tech. 52 just benched it. factor in the rest of the techs. 1-52(at least).

what then?

which is why i would have preferred if they gave it that shakespearean tradgedy ending. that would have made more impact, IMO.

Well from what the story has told us the Jack Harper(s) must come in contact with her to get their memory back, or else be left with haunting visions that make no sense to him in the long run.

So I would assume since only two Harpers came in contact with her only two know the truth. And since one is dead, that leaves the one.

Or is that not enough?

all clones had memory fragments. none made SENSE until julia filled in the blanks. they had memory wipe out protocol for that repair/tech mission so they believed. besides, they sent out thousands of jack harpers to kill the survivors during the invasion phase according to morpheus.

:lol

Just got back from seeing this. I liked it. The music was very good. Not as good as Tron but I've also had a lot of time to listen to Tron.

Okay so let me get a few things straight just to make sure I really knew what was going on and what happened.

Jack and Julia were engaged. She was pregnant with his daughter or got pregnant before Tech 49 went up to blow up the Tet?Not quite sure on that one. The ending where Tech 52 came in, he had been searching for Julia and he did escape obviously from earlier in the film. I thought Tech 49 swapped jackets with Tech 52 but I guess not. Morgan Freeman going up to the Tet I totally didn't see coming. I guess I was just enjoying the movie for what it was at the time but they totally hinted at it earlier. I felt like the movie would have been just a little more powerful if once the Tet got blown up the long hair scav guy would have dropped to his knees in jubilation.

feel free to correct me

The comparison from ID4 comes from a Michael Bay fanboy, he also compared it to Skyline, so clearly he has no clue what he's talking about...
I used to have Mark Whalberg, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio, but after watching a bunch of their movies I realized I was missing out on some great films, so I got over that and in the case of Oblivion, I suggest you do the same!!

Yep, that's what I was thinking... :rock!

Ha....god you're silly. They even used
MORGON ****ING FREEMAN
as the Mac Bomb. So yeah. It is Independence Day.

Two, no I didn't.

Three, maybe you should stop being a fan boy and accept that people will have differing opinions from you. Movie was fine, but insanely flawed. Ending was totally Independence Day. Almost 100%.

oh and I forgot to say that I would love a Tom Cruise Tech 49 Jack Harper figure.....

I would love to have a Bubble Ship!! :rock!

In case you missed it...
There was no uploading virus, or hijacking of an enemy ship, and neither Cruise nor Freeman survived to land on the desert and smoke a cuban... So, if just because they flew inside of the ship to destroy it makes it the same to you, then I guess Star Wars, Star Trek, Black Hole, and every other Sci-Fi movie is a copy of Independence Day...

Two, no I didn't.

Apparently you wanted it to be like that POS... :dunno

I don't mind if people don't like it... or even hate it... it's not for everybody... specially not for people with the attention span of a 5 year old... that completely missed the mark...
It's OK if you didn't get the movie, it's not for you... you like flashy things and big explosions... anything else doesn't compute for you... it's OK... :lol

But comparing it to ID4 is both ignorant and ridiculous...
if anything, it's more like the Greeks using a Horse against the Trojans... so now you can say it ripped off the Greeks...
:lol

You might think of ID4 because you probably haven't seen much older cinema or read classic books... :wave

Don't feed the trolls. Best put on your ignore list as they have a tendency of destroying this part of the forum.

that was jack harper as tech 49's kid. they shagged in that cabin in the woods. now clone 52 would assume the position...wait til the other clones find out. things could get messy.

I agree. CP may be getting revenge for all the posts Kuzeh makes about the Transformers movies. :lol It's like watching a dog with a bone. :lol

If I had to pick ID4 or this I'd pick ID4 to be honest. I just enjoyed that movie a bit more.

Right so, everything I said still rings as a possible truth. The first half of you're statement is just a rewording of mine. So you must agree.

And who says the "thousands" of Harpers would ever find her? Earths a pretty big place. And I would assume that even with the tet being destroyed all the other Harpers would still follow their protocol, cause its all they know (don't go into radiation zones).

Didn't realize people need EVERYTHING spelled out for them in movies. Man you must really hate Inception if you're having problems not knowing more then you want with the end of this film.

I guess if Oblivion had more explosions and toilet humor he would be like "OMFGGGG this movie is soooo RAAADDDD!!! :lol

I hope you're not serious Josh... :(
I mean, I like me some mindless blockbusters every now and then but ID4 is really at the bottom of the barrel... right along with TF...

This was nothing like ID. I don't know what Celtic is talking about....:cuckoo:
:exactly:

morgan freeman was will smith? :lol
Apparenly... :dunno

I agree. I don't see the comparison myself.
OK we can be friends again... :1-1:

Always possible. :lol

Sorry man. Obilivion was enjoyable. I just think if I had to pick one to watch I'd go with ID4.

What can I say sometimes I like the bottom of the barrel. :dunno I'm glad people are really into oblivion. I thought it was an enjoyable movie but its pretty forgetable to be honest. Visually its a great looking movie and looked awesome. I'll put my thoughts in spoilers so I don't ruin anything for anyone.

Just to make things better for you. If I was to sit down and pick any of the three Transformers Movies, ID 4, or Oblivion. I'd go with TF (1-3), ID4, and then Oblivion. Sorry Man :( :lol

You get a cool story to start as far as what happened to the earth and some great visuals. However, outside of the Red Head being hot there isn't much going on until Morgan Freeman shows up. You get the pods getting blown up which is in about the same area. That's when this movie actually gets going.

The clones were an interesting twist. Not toally what I was expecting but that was really the only surpise until the end. The droid getting messed up wasn't a shocker and them having to take the bomb to the mothership was fairly obvious as well. I did enjoy seeing the backstory on the recorder and why the two got cloned. I was surprised it ended up being Morgan Freeman in the deal but was disapointed that the main alien was a giant floating triangle. I wasn't surprised by #52 showing up at the end either. All in all this was an average movie for me with outside of the Red Head, great visuals, and cool designs.

I'm glad people are liking it so much. It was just a 6.5-7 movie for me and not something I'd be spending money on Blu to own most likely. So that's why I'd take ID4 or Transformers as you can see below.

OK we can be friends again... :1-1:

:yess::hi5:

This story's hero was the power of love...harper's love of his wife stayed in his mind thus overpowering all eventually which in turn led to the saving of the human race/earth...

I really liked this film...I was thinking about Tron,Wall-E,POTA,2001's Hal the computer,Thx,Logans Run, Terminator, I am Legend, even Matrix...all these and more came to mind....Even thoughts of Galactus(The destroyer of worlds:wink1:)came up...even vger from ST the motion picture or the ST Borg cube or ST 4 and ID4...It was a great film and tragic story if you think about it...I do like the fact there were explainations and closure...all done in a very well done manner...Music was like Tron Legacy's...kick-a ss...I didnt think the ending was so bad at all...very nice seeing a good sci fi flick again reminding me of the older films from the 60's and 70s...Kudos to the filmakers...I definetley could see Heston playing Harper...The scenery was phenomenal including of course the special effects....I thought this also was one of the Loudest films I ever saw volume wise...really loud soundtrack

This film had shades of all those films mentioned in my above earlier quote...all done well
