Hope Blu ray contains deleted scenes and LOTS of art and behind the scenes-
is Ridley Scott now jealous because it looks like a film of his!

:lectureIf Scott had done what this film did in regards to explainations:lecture...Prometheus would have been loved so much more:exactly:

Well, I for one thought the explanations in Oblivion were lacking. On the other hand, I love how Scott handled Prometheus. Nothing was spoon fed, but it all made sense to me when I thought about it.

lacking?...Scott's was lacking, still leaving lots of guess work out there...Oblivion was a simpler story I grant...I didnt walk away saying WTF did I just watch? like I did with Prometheus...I did like Prometheus but not as much as this one

Well, I wouldn't compared them personally...
I like them both, but felt a more honest connection to Oblivion though... somewhat, certain elements of Prometheus felt forced... But both are kick-*** Sci-Fi movies IMO...

Just came home watching this movie. I had a low expectation with all the mediocre reviews but watched it anyway. Kinda predictable plot but Tom did a great job playing the role and I loved the vibe of the movie as well as the fitting soundtrack.
The freak I am the whole time I was hoping HT should make a figure of Jack and the aircraft lol.

... and 1/6 scale bike lol its not the most original design but I thought it looked so cool

Saw this a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed it,I loved the special effects and designs music etc. Will buy on blu ray def!

Oblivion was quite entertaining.
Well directed, scored and played.
Was nice to see a scifi movie that took its time.
Did not feel the need to go boom every 10 minutes.
There is some annoying stuff (Olga whathername can't act even if her life depended on it, and even if i like him its getting annoying to see Tom playing Tom another actor with less ego would have been nicer i think) and convenient writing.
But what i liked the most is that the movie was humble.
It did not tried to be pretentious, but just entertaining and serious.
Seriously why do the human scavs feel the need to dress up as Predators?
Just to make sure Jacks shoot them? Felt the misdirection was a bit forced.
Why bother with humans clones to finish the job on earth?
Energy for clones and many drones are fully available on the Tet.
Why the Tet wants Julia brought to him seriously? Why does it accept to let enter a clone that is clearly malfunctionning?
And the worst, how can Jack listen to the last minutes of recording since the black box had been already ejected with his wife...
I hope that Julia is a nymphomaniac because when all the special Jakes are going to pop in to say hello she's gonna be busy :)
And no i dont need everything to be spelled out, but to make sense and so far those plotpoints do not make sense.
However far from perfect(what is?) but highly entertaining i'm getting this on blu hope it will be loaded and there will some sort of directors cut with more scenes has sometimes some characters scenes feel to have been cut.

For olbertfrog..

Morgan Freeman explains it in the movie.
The drones are programmed to kill humans. So the less human they look/sound, the less likely they'll be detected and killed by the drones.

It's never explained. Maybe..
The Aliens figured they'd be less likely to be attacked by the surviving humans if they looked human themselves. Which seemed to work for a little while.
But that's just a theory. Who knows for sure!?

Again, this is explained in the movie..
I believe Jack tells "Sally" that his wife is important to the survival of the human race and if anything happens to her it would signal the end of humanity or something to that effect i.e. he tells "Sally" exactly what she wants to hear. Because that's what the aliens ultimately want (to end humanity) so there's no way they would pass up that chance.

So your theory is..
The black box should have stopped recording audio transmissions from the ship once it was ejected with the escape pod?

Thanks for the reply devil.

Yep the scav thing does make sense.
But the tet tech seem really to lack when it helps the story.
The drone have scanners im sure they are able to see the humans under the suits.

As for keeping jack and vic, i guess since the invasion with thousand of jacks i doubt the survivors have any second toughts killing them.
Im sure the director can come up with an explanation but as for now it feels like a thing to pass because without it there is no movie.

Ok the tet wants to end humanity, this is a chance to do so based on what jack said. Why bother letting him in? The bubbleship is locked while the tet is asking questions if killing them was its goal he could have done it way before. The tet control the drones from a far distance but cant block the bubbleship? Must be another reason i hope or once again the tech tet lacks when needed to make **** happen.

As for the black box, well this is usually how it works.
The box records the transmission of the vehicule it´s on.
Once the cargo is ejected it should not record anything else but the cargo trans.
Dunno really how that tech work but it felt fishy when i saw it.
But yep until the crash it might have recorder every mission transmissions.
This is nitpicking really because the movie work and is entertaining.
Now that the movie s released in the us maybe some interviewers Will ask some of the questions about the tet and all question people might have.
That would be cool.

Just saw the movie! I really loved it. I already had the Mondo vinyl on order, but now I'm doubly glad I got it. :) I was very pleasantly surprised, but then I also liked Tron Legacy, too, and I agree you could see some of the DNA there.

Just visually lush with some amazing design work. And I even liked Cruise, who I do find a bit hard to take seriously these days.

Did you love the twist and ending, and how it all turned out?

For fans of science fiction (and Philip K. D.i.c.k in particular), I'm not sure how much of a surprise the twist was.

(Someone who's read The Penultimate Truth and is moderately clever can guess the plot from the trailer.)

I'm not leaving. Ever. If I want to comment on this film, i'm going to. And fanboy Mcgee isn't going to stop me.

Just came back from seeing this movie and overall, I enjoyed it. The visuals were pretty amazing and I enjoyed the story as it played out. Sure it took a lot of elements that have been used before in sci-fi, but it still made a great overall movie for me. I've been liking Tom Cruise less and less, but played great in his role.
