Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

I remember when it came out, Sideshow sold out of it and I don't think hardly any Wait List conversions went through. I had placed my order with Toys2 expecting to have it soon and instead they got it a few months after Sideshow and I tried Wait Listing with Sideshow to get it sooner and it never panned out.

Between the lack of Rambo collectibles on the market, the quality of the Rambo 3 figure compared to the 2 before it, and possibly a smaller production run, it's just a highly sought after piece. To me, even the portrait is more powerful than the M65, they're both great sculps but M65 lacks emotion compared to the R3 which has a very intense portrait.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Around March of last year, SS I guess found some Rambo III pieces in the warehouse, and I think put them in an express e-mail. Of course I missed it, but signed up for the wait list anyway. Sure enough, around the end of April, my wl order converted. They were already going for $300 at this point, and I never expected that to happen.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Nice custom work on the Rambo 4.

Recently swapped my M65 Rambo onto a Narrow True Type, may not seem much a difference in photos, but to me in hand, it makes the figure much better, I always liked the figure less because of how wide shouldered the standard True Type made him look, it was actually one of the first figures to make me really want to see the True Type improved in the shoulder area. The original body that came with makes him look wide like the 4th film but it's not right for First Blood where he was the smallest in the whole series.

I also undid and re-rolled the sleeping bag, it comes too wide from HT and isn't rounded enough, easily fixed.

Here's my figure originally.

Now on the Narrow.

And just for fun.

Now, if I could just find an HT neck adapter that matches the skin on this figure I'd be set, the TT that came with it is like high gloss, it's crazy, the level of light showing on it compared to the head can really stand out.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Very nice with the new body type. The M65 was my first foray into the 1:6 world. It still holds a very special space in my heart. The HS is absolutly sublime.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

That does look different yeah, but i am not sure i prefer it over the Original TT on This Rambo. The thing is...the Jacket is a little more "Puffy" than the one Sly used in First Blood so it gets the overall puffy look, narrow shoulders makes it look even more puffy so imo i think the Original TT looks better on this because the jacket fits better on the TT.If the Jacket was more screen accurate(Tighter, thinner material) narrow shoulders would probably look better.

But like you said, looks better in hand,so i can be wrong.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Well, like you said, the jacket's off no matter what, I prefer it looking baggier and less form fitting on the Narrow because it suggests a slimmer guy inside, and the slope of the shoulders is more like Sly.

I've actually looked into finding a replacement M65 jacket from another company but any search I do just pulls up the Rambo figure. Also went looking for a coat similar to the one he has in Rambo incase any future figures don't include that final look but couldn't find anything like that out there either.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

i think they can be found...there are plenty of Vietnam 1/6 figures out there so i think the M65 Jacket can be found.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

I looked on eBay and just found the Rambo figure. It is a very slim jacket though, it's almost more like a shirt in terms of how it fits, probably just heavy duty material so it keeps you warmer than it would seem.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Well, my Rambo collection is finally going to have a key and missing piece. I've been so fired up for Rambo stuff, I went looking on eBay for Colonel Trautman and won an auction for him MIB for $168 shipped, which is quite a bit, but considering that the same figure can go for $200-$300 I think it's a good deal and the seller has 100% feedback so I know it's reliable, so finally, I'll have him, really doesn't feel right having Rambo and not Trautman.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Tell Roy that:lol

I find the Trautman figure just as important as the rest of my Rambo figs, the sculpt is not bad really.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

The thing that kept me from buying him back when he was first around is that First Blood Trautman is not my desired look, and I may investigate getting a Rambo 2 style uniform for him and bashing my own together. At that time, there was no telling where the line would go so I passed in hopes of a Rambo 2 version, and by the time I realized that would never be, it was hard finding the First Blood one at a reasonable price, but I lucked out so he'll be coming home.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Well, he arrived today, really rounds out the set, though Rambo 4 is still missing. Found a Rambo 2 style uniform on Monkey Depot so going to order that and swap him and then I'll have the Trautman I want, though I'm always up for HT doing it and having a more realistic portrait. I have swapped his hands with modern TT hands, I can't believe he came with the crappy, bendy HT hands, I figured he'd at least just have the Hasbro style hands HT used to have, but solid molded, not the bendy ones, they just looked horrible, and I had spares.
