Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

I'm ok with the lack of articulation because of the style of these figures.

Not just the joints, but sometimes because things don't line up, articulation can ruin it. Where NECA and McFarlane basically make their "figures" as little statues, some basic stuff to vary the pose a little bit is nice.

On that note though, it would be really cool if someone, maybe even NECA, made figures along the lines of what Hasbro does nowadays with their 4" Star Wars figures but in this higher end 7" realm.

The great thing about these NECA figures, unlike the McFarlanes of years ago, is the neutral poses. McFarlane loved sculpting figures into particular poses to the degree that any articulation they provided was pretty much useless - as you say things wouldn't line up, also heads could be permanently tilted if made to look forward (TX human version), arms in permanently outstretched&gun raised positions (MM4 T-800) etc etc. But now using a neutral stance as the default position and providing these balljoints in the shoulders and elbows - well disguised I might add - its going to give these figures more variety in the ways we can display them. And I'm preaching to the converted there I know.

Yeah but thats what I buy superposeable 1/6ths for. I'm totally content with these 7" semi-statues - provided quality control is good.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

I dont really like the "MAN OR MACHINE" one...but the Escape one is fantastic looking. I want it.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

For $15 I like it enough, I love T2 and I can have this whole collection for the price of 1 Hot Toys figure.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

Hopefully the powers that be at NECA can see this line's potential and will make a T-1000 wave,as well as T1 figures.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

I'm pretty sure they already see it's potential and that's why we're getting it, BUT, how far it goes will depend on sales.

Sure we're salivating over it, but how many people out in the market are.

I've got almost a dozen NECA figures, love their product, but I see a lot of their stuff peg warm and go on clearance, I know some stores still trying to unload AVPR stuff.

It's a tough market because the style of NECA and McFarlane plus their price, caters to a higher end collector, but that also ends up catering to a group that is looking to Hot Toys, Sideshow and Medicom products, so enticing them, no matter the quality and cost savings, with 7" figures when higher end 12" ones are out there, plust statues and all, it's a tough market to be super successful in.

Before Hot Toys and Sideshow were really prominent and successful, NECA could probably clean up the market as their stuff would be some of the best available, but now, they're competing for money in a group with even higher level items enticing them.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

I'm optimistic about these, I think they'll do fine. T2 has major recognition amongst the masses and with T4 in the cinemas it'll be on people's minds. Its certainly the best possible time to bring these out IMO.

Definitely heres hoping for a similarly great set of T-1000s. I even wish they'd take a risk and make young John connor but I know thats unlikely. And T1 figures would be grail items given the fact that so little merchandise of this kind exists for that film.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

It would be interesting if they did upsize the Endo to 12"... I'd probably buy one just to have an extra Endo around.

that's what i'm really hoping for. there 18" endo is fantastic, and i just can't afford the hot toys one now, so this would be a great alternative.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

I'm bored. Its list time! (even though I probably already did a list earlier in the thread!)

The T-1000 wave:

#1Galleria encounter (no battle damage)
#2Biker cop (no battle damage)
#3pescadero battle (bullet hits - split head - hook arms)
#4Steel Mill T-1000 (split down side by pole - stabbing finger)

#1 and #2 have the prospects of full chrome variants (we know NECA love variants and in this case I'd fully support them)

Torsos should be seperable from legs thus we could turn #1 into an undamaged #4 (as the T-1000 retained his biker cop boots in the steel mill scenes)

Also the torso from #3 should be usable with the head and arms from #1 to create a battle damaged Galleria encounter figure (even though bullet hits might not be exactly accurate)

I omitted these versions as McFarlane kinda already did them - Donut head T-1000 and Exploded T-1000

I omitted 'Frozen' Biker T-1000 as I simply doubt they'd consider it unless part of a box set or something.

So whats everyone elses ideal set of figures?

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

Thats why too much T-1000's.....unless you want NECA to go bankrupt making figures few people would buy.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

:lol I was just reading the earlier pages of this thread and you and I had this very argument already. You were insistent we didn't need any more than 2 or 3 T-1000s and I thought 4 was showing restraint!

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

If you're gonna do a wave, may as well do it proper! Eh a-dev? :lol

All the ones you posted sound good to me!

Ok then, if CelticP is right and I'm being too hopeful here I shall adjust my list down to just 2.

#1 Galleria encounter (no battle damage - for a basic figure of Robert Patrick as T-1000 - McFarlane never made an undamaged representation - this would cover it)

#2 Steel Mill T-1000 (split down side figure)

These are 2 versions of the character we've never seen done in this scale. McFarlane covered the donut head, torso battle-damage, hook arms and exploded version. I left out the full Biker version because the T-1000 has no major interraction with the T-800 while in this outfit. When he does he is seated in a vehicle. The ''split down the side'' T-1000 would work great with the battledamage T-800 that we're getting as long as the pole weapon was included. Meanwhile the Galleria T-1000 could pass for the undamaged steel mill version reasonably enough (boots schmoots). And it could still have a chrome version as a cheapish third option (emerging from the canal explosion).

However I'd still love if NECA matched it 4-4 with their T-800 wave.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

I'd buy them...but most people wouldnt. I dont know....a T-1000 would sell...but 4 versions? I dunno...

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

I would think anyone who'd want to buy all the T-800 figures would be likely to buy any T-1000's made, if they're done as well. I think the majority of buyers for these figures will be ones who'll buy up anything T2 that NECA offers.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

T-800 is a surer seller since everyone primarily associates Schwarzennegger with Terminator. I think they'll get away with all those different versions of him. Maybe if they had thought enough ahead to make&release them 2 for 2 at a time. 2 of the T-800s plus 2 of the T-1000s Then later the other 2 T-800s and the other 2 T-1000s. Isolating the T-1000 into its own mini-series may have to mean fewer incarnations being produced. I'm hoping not.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

Yeah, Arnold's a sure fire seller if anything Terminator, but I really think it's going to be a niche group buying all these up, and in that niche I think anything T2 will be buy worthy, again if it comes out well. NECA can be hit or miss with figures, if T-1000s were misses, that'd hurt, but if they come out as nice as the T-800s, I think they'll work. I do see T-1000 only working at 7" scale unless the 12" version were some crazy battle damage one that even Hot Toys couldn't pull off.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

If I showed someone a T-1000 toy (just Rob in a cop suit) they wouldnt care. If I show Arnold, they would go "Woah! Terminator!"
