I ended up cancelling my Sideshow exclusive the other day and keeping the Asia exclusive. It was a difficult choice but considering there were only 100 of the Asia exclusive and it was sold out and the Sideshow one is still available I decided to go with the rarer one but after seeing those pictures I have to say that I think the Sideshow helmet is way cooler looking. Man, why'd they have to do this? We only need one, not both.

I ended up cancelling my Sideshow exclusive the other day and keeping the Asia exclusive. It was a difficult choice but considering there were only 100 of the Asia exclusive and it was sold out and the Sideshow one is still available I decided to go with the rarer one but after seeing those pictures I have to say that I think the Sideshow helmet is way cooler looking. Man, why'd they have to do this? We only need one, not both.

Those pictures do make the ribbed helmet look better than I've seen it before. But the Asia also looks really good in the packaging shots. I love them industrial cheeks.

Yep, they're identical except for the helmet.
That's the only thing that makes them different characters.

If I had to choose one, I would choose the Japanese Exclusive.

Reasons why:

Limited to 200 peices I believe
Very distinct mask design

From watching AVP very closely it seems the Asia Exclusive is the first Pred seen in the flashback scene, and the "ribbed" SSC Exclusive Pred is the one to his left. He is also the one Pred in the center going out in a blaze glory on the temple with the other two Preds, which again the SSC Exclusive Pred is seen to his left.

Funny thing is, the one Ancient Pred holding the Alien on a stick in the movie is neither the Asia or SSC Exclusive. You can tell by his smooth non-ribbed mask crown. Maybe were in for another Ancient variant? Yikes!

The limited availability may push me to get the Asian exclusive. It would help to know exactly how limited it is. If it's only 200 pieces then that would mean Sideshow got half the run, extremely limited.

Japan Exclusive Ancient predator is limited to either 500 or 700 pieces world wide. Blister listed it as limited 500 but if HT made extra 200 for Sideshow then it will make the total edition size to be 700.

I think the Sideshow version may end up more limited than the Asia exclusive one.

I actually like the Sideshow helmet more anyway, so if that is the only difference I'm more than happy that I have my order in for that one.

The reasons I like the Ancient Predator best of all:

1) IMHO, he looks much more like the Predator from the original film than any other released to date.

2) That spear with the Alien head is just too damn cool.
