Crap, the SS Ancient Pred looks like it will sell out very soon. I was hoping to buy him eventually but with everything else coming, I'll have to give up on wanting a complete set. :(

Anyone with a Hot Toys Predator, have problems with rusting on the springs that connect the helmet to the backpack?

Apparently this seems to affect it if you live in a humid climate. There's a seller on ebay who sells STAINLESS steel replacements, however it seems to me that this kind of coiled spring cabling could be found domestically at hardware stores or something. I checked Home Depot and couldn't find it. Does anybody know specifically what kind of cabling this is and where it could be found?

I already contacted Hot toys, this problem only affects the early models, scar and celtic Predators. Apparently

I've had a problem with my Celtic's spring since I got it out of the box as I pulled something I didn't I know I couldn't pull and stretched out some of the coils -- not so anyone would notice if you didn't look for it but I know about it and it bothers me. It's also an issue if I keep the helmet attached to the spring and let it hang as one is longer than the other.

I also have a bugger of a time reconnecting the coils when they accidently slip off.

What problems are you guys having?

I own all 7 Hot toys Predators. This rusting has only affected my original Scar Predator which has been kept in a glass display case since purchase!

Rusting?! I had no idea. (I live in a desert.) Wow, my complaints pale next to rusting.

Hmmm, I have had my Scar for close to a year now and have had no rusting.

I hope it stays that way.

I bought Scar when he first came out and haven't noticed any rust yet.
Gdb, I also partially screwed up the coil on my Celtic, but it wasn't a major straitening, just a small section was effected. It happened when I was trying to push the pin back into the coil after it had fallen out; I applied a little too much pressure and I muffed it.
As to where to find a stainless steel coil, I think an electronics store might have them. I'm not sure what they'd be used for other then protecting an internal wire.

Radio Snatch doesn't have them. Wish we had a Fry's here.

I've seen metal cables similar to the ones used on the Preds at some model supply shops here in Japan. They're used on mech kits and the like, but they might make suitable replacements. I'll take a look next week and see if they have the same size as the originals and post my findings here. If it looks good, then maybe I can pick some up for anyone who desperately needs to replace theirs.

Btw, the humidity here is like 80% in the summer, but so far I haven't noticed any rust on any of mine...can't imagine why. :dunno Anyway, good ol' WD40 ought to take care of the problem, as RUMADMAN suggests. :D
