Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Just to clarify: Acheron LV-426 is a ringed planet just outside the Zeta 2 Reticula System. That's where the Derelict from Alien was/where the Weyland-Yutani Colony set up shop in Aliens.

Prometheus takes place on LV-223, a moon of Acheron LV-426.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

So the Derelict ship from Alien doesn't make it very far before crash landing. Is there any doubt we'll see that played out towards the end of Prometheus?

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I think we'll see a facehugger and maybe a chestburster. If that's all, I'm fine with it.

Doesn't it show that ship crashing in the trailer?

Based on what I see from the trailer, the last part of the movie is about destroying that ship before it gets away because it is headed for Earth.

But if it is the case that this ship was escaping with the intention of contaminating Earth with Aliens, that could be creating a contradiction in one of the best plot points in "Alien". But I won't be sure of that until I see Prometheus. And THAT won't happen until t is on HBO.

Anyway...it looks kind of schlocky to me. Buty I have absolutely nothing but the trailer to base that opinion on.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I think we will be witnessing the second coming with this film. Hate to say it, but yeah, my hopes are very elevated at this point for this film. I only just realized last night that it has been 20 years since I skipped school to see Alien3, not once, not twice, but three times on opening day in the theater. And yes, I'm a huge fan of Fincher's film. So twenty some years since the last quality (IMHO) Alien franchise film, and now we have what is shaping up to be a masterpiece.

I simply, can, not, wait... :panic:

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Because I said it, and you know it makes sense. :D
Oh I never said it didn't make sense for it to be him, I just said it would make more sense if it was referring to the Xeno wall mural, or whatever happens in the last 8 minutes. And it does...but if it's not, I think it'll definitely be played during the dnalyew reveal.

The movie wont be about them. Yet on numerous times by multiple people we have been told the last segment of the movie will be a massive fan wanky moment for the fans. So i think we will see one, maybe the origins or at least something at the end that may lead to another movie that will feature them more prominently.

:horror Honestly, putting my love for the Alien aside, I think this is the most epic trailer I have ever seen...the official trailer, the one that was released on saturday March 17. :yess:

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I still think we won't see THE Alien...but a Alien that looks really, really close to what we know. Something kinda like the original idea for the Alien.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Ive got a feeling that the collision depicted in that shot and in the trailers will probably one of the most "epic" moments in the alien universe of films. Not for the special effects but likely because its going to be a suicidal last resort to "save earth" kind of thing leaving our crew stranded or possibly killing a few of them.

I can imagine Heimdall at the helm or stood at front of the ship like he is in the trailers coming into the planet but with the Jockey ship in full view about to smash into it and self sacrifice or something.

(I dont actually know when people die, so i may be wrong if thats even possible there, i spoil myself with visual stuff but avoid the demise of the characters if possible)

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

The ship that we see crash in the trailer isn't the ship from Alien though...?

It certainly looks like it to me. And the fact that they show the space jockey as well kind of cements it for me.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

It's the same kind of ship, but not the exact same ship seen in Alien because the one on LV-426 isn't destroyed.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

So their attempt to use the Prometheus to destroy this Space Jockey ship will prove futile because as Yoda said, "there is another."

So at the end of Prometheus we must see the ship that was found on LV-426 leave the planet and the birth scene atleast?

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

So the connectors between Alien and Prometheus are: Weyland Yutani, some alien race (space jockey and derelict space ship) and of course, the alien that's supposedly alluded by its DNA in the film?

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

We've already seen images of multiple Space Jockeys statues, skulls, bodies... It's been demonstrated just from what little we've seen they are a race. There could easily be more than one space jockey spaceship on this planet.

Another possibility is the ship hit by the Prometheus (thanks trailer. That's a pretty big spoiler) heals and takes off again. Maybe it's just strong enough to make it as far as the next moon before realizing this was a bad idea and then crashes and becomes the derelict we saw in Alien.

I hope we get to see all of those little canisters 'activate' into eggs, waiting patiently under a blue laser for the day Kane stumbles upon them.
