Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!
Yeah, but how did the captain know it was a military base?

......
The whole there is a no logic is a good way of putting it really.
I think this word has become a weapon.
More clearly, I think the rules of the biological were unclear.
Maybe someone can clarify this for me: the 'goo' when left to its own becomes the Hammerpede. If ingested, you begin to dissolve or, if you are dead, you become a zombie. If you get pregnant from someone infected, then you have a squid-baby. That squid grows to become a giant starfish and, like a facehugger, if it becomes one with you, gives birth to the very first protoxeno.... at least we think the protoxeno.
Are those the rules?
...anyone who comes in contact with the goo will spend massive amounts of cash on movie related collectibles..

I liked the Hammerpedes and their scene best.
I don't know what to make of the giant starfish. I have to say, I haven't quite worked out the logic of the "goo" and how it affects or infects other beings. Some get sick, some get preggy, some turn to zombies.
I also think the Fifeld scene was one of the best, scariest, but also the weakest idea in the movie -- 'zombies' just don't fit here for me. Could have been something a little more interesting.
I would have liked to see that 'goo' make use of the biological elements as well as the mechanical elements -- breaking down everything to make a whole new 'lifeform'... that would lead us to our traditional biomechanical A L I E N down the line.
Fifeld is not a Zombie he is infected just like Holloway, but he fell face first into the goo so it took over quicker. Shaw was impregnated by infected sperm so that produced this face hugger creature. That then produced a Xenomorph through the Space Jockey. The Xenomorph in Alien is probably something that has been engineered by the Space Jockeys, that's why the eggs are cargo, and that is why it's different to the "proto"Xeno which has come about organically. The Xenomorph in Alien is probably a weapon that has been perfected by the Engineers, there might be a reason why it has a bio-mechanical look. That's why the company wants it so bad to use it as weapon, Ash even calls it the perfect organism, and that it has structural perfection. However Prometheus was not made to answer that question, it's been made to introduce us to the Space Jockey and their link to us, sequels will go into more detail of their motives and to why they are hostile.
The way I see it is the goo can have random effects depending on it's environment, that's why on earth it destroyed the engineer to reconstruct his DNA into the first living cells on earth, that then evolved into us and other creatures. On the moon LV-223 it has a different effect because it's in a different environment. Also whatever it creates is hostile to existing life forms, destroy life to create life. I for one really hope they make a sequel because this movie has made me want one by leaving so many question unanswered

The two arms of the Jockey ship are the backside, right? It doesn't fly with them in front?
I can't remember for some reason, and I'm too lazy to go watch the trailer again.
This does make more sense.
But I'm not sure about your Fifeld explanation. His melting facemask seemed to kill him, then he fell face first into the goo and the Hammerpedes got in him. Then later he comes back. So he was dead and was brought back to life -- that's a zombie. Fifeld's a space zombie!
Did you guys see Fifeld's legs flipped back over his head when they first went outside? That's a nod to something Ridley wanted to do with the alien back in 1979.
Yeah... I don't understand how it fits into things. The room with the giant head and urns... and that green rock thing... had a wall mural that looked very similar to the Alien.
What was that room used for anyways?
Movie was a complete FAIL! That's too bad because I so wanted to hang up this poster.
