Saw this last night, and now i'm starting to understand some of the more critical reviews i've seen on it: The visuals are amazing, the cinematography is amazing, the acting is amazing, but the plot was one giant cluster____ that does'nt hold up very well if you tthink about it for more than a second.
I won't repeat anymore of what's been said already, but i have a question:
I'm wondering what happened to that doctor chick with the irish (scottish?) accent, last i saw of her she was prepping shaw for cryo, then after the escape scene she just up and dissapeared. Did she show up again and i missed it or did she go down witht the ship?
Yeah the scientists were 'kill me now, my iq is 4' dumb.
Another thing that bugged me quite a bit: how willingly and quickly Capt was willing to kill himself off the word of the main archaeologist woman. He barely knew her, so I would think it would take more than 20 seconds for a guy to be convinced to blow up his ship with him and rest of crew on it
Perfectly. But a lot of flaws I read (not all) seem to be people missing things. Like the black goo after the acid, or where characters are. It's almost like no one really paid attention.

Well, whether I missed something or you are wrong is really up for debate. Really no need to be so condescending, you're not the master of the Alien universe here.
whatever, this film sucks. If it was a standalone movie it would be killed, only reason it got people defending it is because its link to alien, yet they explained nothing and only adds contradictions, it's an insult.
Whether it happened or not, and you might be right, has nothing really to do with what we were originally talking about, which was whether he was dead or not before he came "back to life". You know that.
Indeed. I like the film but I can see it's faults too. I've read some posts about people hating the film; characters and plot, and saying they will go and see it again. There's no way I'd pay another £8/10 to see a film I thought was terrible.
Not a lack. THERE IS A SPACE JOCKEY, a DERELICT SHIP (although...not technically a derelict....but that's all I can call it now.), Alien like creatures, Weyland, and the planet is called LV-226, ( i think), in the same system as LV-426....
And not to mention the Alien at the end.
It's not a direct prequel, but to say it has no connection is just not correct.
I'm not even defending the movie here..I just haven't read many legit issues with the movie that can't be proven otherwise.
Sorry, but it's not that confusing of a movie. It's just a little vague. Some people don't like it. But I don't get why they get mad when movies over explain, and then this one doesn't. It leaves it to you.
Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread
I wish that instead of Fifield coming back as a mutant, his partner or the 'biologist' was the host for a chest burster. And then that Alien attacked the crew instead of Fifield. That would've been cool. But I have complete and utter faith in Ridley and his decisions
Take away the link to alien and treat it as a standalone movie, what do you have then? A bunch of scientist after discovering cave paintings took a trip to a planet to find their alien creators and get answers. They arrive, after _____k around for a while that adds nothing to the movie, they finally meet the alien, who promptly kills them in 30 sec without saying a word. The end.
There's a fine line between something being ambiguous or mysterious and flat out not making any sense, i thought the way they kept the intentions of the engineers a secret was great and made them much more interesting.
I'm getting a little sick of coming into this thread, seeing people offer legitimate critiscisms of the film and fanboys going "you just don't get it 'cause you're stupid durr".

Now, would I agree with you that the design and stuff could've been better? Oh yes. A weak point. But I liked the scene, more then the actual mutation thing.
There are enough ties to the franchise to make it a true prequel, but the intention of the film was too add depth to the series, give it more of a story. And to make a ton of money
