So you think the engineers knew what outcome they wanted -- the perfect weapon -- but just hadn't achieved it yet?


And yes, this relief at the altar was before whatever was in the slightly glowing green chamber on the table. What was in that green chamber -- Super Soldier serum, A L I E N dna, special goo, who knows? That's what the sequel will reveal I suppose.

Oh yeah, I think they achieved it and it was just a little too perfect by the time it was finished. Not to try to muddy the waters by connecting this to other films, but its not the first time we've seen how well these evolve on hosts other than humans. I had avoided exposure to this before the movie, when I watched the movie I thought they were returning to earth for phase 2 of our evolution, after reading stuff from Scott I definitely believe they were coming to end us with their newest ultimate weapons and it backfired.

No Jon. I think they referred to the mural as the paintings that were up higher. This looks like part of the relief stuff that was on the wall.

Yeah, If I watched it again in the theatre it would be just to look at some of the stuff I didn't absorb the first time, but I can wait til its out on BR, then I'll rewatch it with my pause button a ton.

Some people ask why theres a need for an extended cut, and I think this is why, I'd like to see more of the cavern systems and I'd definitely like more crew time. Fassbender was explored well, but it seems other than Dr. Shaw, the next best developed character was the geologist.

Truthfully, the original Alien movie's crew was equally sketchy in terms of development. Ridley deliberately focused on no one so you couldn't predict who was gonna die next.

Truthfully, the original Alien movie's crew was equally sketchy in terms of development. Ridley deliberately focused on no one so you couldn't predict who was gonna die next. In Prometheus, the hero was apparent from the beginning.

Based on this I thought Ridley over developed Shaw on purpose, so you'd think she'd survive to the end but when her death occurred it'd be sudden, shocking and extremely unexpected.

In the squid-abortion scene I thought it was game over for her

But it is clearly significant. And it is of something that has yet to be created... OR that thing at the end is misnamed the PROTOxeno.

It was hard to notice before, but looking at this pic, it looks like this could be a prototype or work in process, it sure looks heavily rigged into whatever is supposed to be making up the background.

So just saying that it's a carving, on the wall. Not a WIP prototype, etc.

I'll probably go one more time just to soak in the design stuff after I get a chance to read the art book.

That was my ONE complaint about the movie... I really would have been fine with it being a half hour longer. I definitely wanted more crew time. I too hope a longer director's cut is in the offing.

I think you misunderstood our coversation. WIP for the engineers creating Xeno's. I think everyone understood it was one of the carvings. Obviously, its hard to believe the creature at the end is the proto Xeno unless the carving represnted pure thesis work on the engineers part

From day one I was under the impression she was the main character and would be one of the few, if not only survivor. Although I did think that everyone would end up dead by the end of the film, maybe with the exception of David. Atleast the prospect of a direct sequel still remains.
