The Prometheus script is brilliant
it's a shame Scott cut out most of the good stuff (like he always does)
What's left over is still amazing though.

No it's not.
But I'm glad you like it.
Visually I love the movie, and there are two top notch characters and performances in there (Fass and Theron). And a pile of sub standard ones.
The script however destroys what could have been an amazing sci-fi movie. Pseudo intellectual rubbish dumbs down some seriously interesting ideas. None of them properly evolved. And some of the dialogue and plotting would look silly in the more stupid of B-movies. Yes, I've read all the scripts. The original being the best. But that has no relevance now.
However, I really like the movie, because it looks gorgeous. And for the most part sounds beautiful.
Just such a waste of energy though. And I personally don't believe a sequel will ever get off the ground. Prometheus has become a much maligned movie joke in my (and Ridleys) part of the world. He won't do it again and I certainly can't see a major studio giving him 150-200million dollars to make a movie that has has these genetics to deal with. It was just fly talk to increase BD and DVD sales. Yes, I'm aware of the recent vague announcements. Lets wait and see, none of it has been confirmed in any way that doesn't sound like pub talk.
Prometheus was a seriously hyped "not" prequel to ALIEN, it had some simply amazing trailers and unfortunately burnt its bridges when it was released. It won't happen again.

This thread literally can't be bumped without the douchey trolls returning. My god. I don't know what's worse, the fact that you people can't get over yourselves and find something better to do, or the fact that Ramatuelle hasn't been banned yet.
We get that you didn't like the movie. We got that you didn't like the movie the first hundred times you came into this thread and bashed it. Yes, it's a forum. You're allowed to state your flawed opinion of the film. But at some point can those of us who actually enjoyed the film be free to use this thread without having to read all of your hate and negativity? You realize it's almost been a year since the movie came out?
I see no reason why this thread shouldn't be deleted if the same people who have been trolling it since day one will continue doing so until the end of time.

I can understand someone watching the film for the first time and coming in to share their opinion, but most of these people have been "sharing their opinion" for months now.
It's like they feel they need to keep us in our place. Prometheus is a bad film and we all need to be reminded of it time and time again.
I really hope the sequel gets made, and I hope it's every bit as brilliant as Prometheus is so these people will have another "disappointment" to waste their times *****ing and moaning about.
They'll pay to see it anyway.

Weyland Corp/Weyland-Yutani - Alien? Yes. Prometheus? Yes.
Synthetic Humans - Alien? Yes (Ash). Prometheus? Yes (David).
Not to mention LV-223 (Prometheus) is right next to LV-426 (Alien). They both orbit the same planet.

You misunderstood. I'm talking specifics. Where the SW PT shares the same characters (Obi Wan) as the OT, Prometheus does not.Wait.. what!?

There's another U-shaped spacecraft, yes, but it's not the same one from Alien. There's another engineer/space jockey, but it's not the same one from Alien. Right now there's nothing that is carried over into the other film making it a prequel. It's just a separate story based in the same universe.

It's alright. Just pop an aspirin. Some of the fans want to praise every single bit of this film and if someone else comes along and has problems with it, they act like they're burning their treehouse down. If you don't like it then you should probably rename it the Prometheus Fan Support Group Thread.

You DO know for a 100% fact that Ridley ****ing LOVES Aliens...right? And that he and Cameron are good friends who were going to WORK ON AN ALIEN 5 TOGETHER BACK IN 2003. The only reason it didn't pan out, was due to AvP.
