I think Noomi is hot! :naughty

she is pretty hot :hi5: But Charlize... oh man :love:love:love

So all a film has to do to earn the title of prequel or sequel is take place in the same universe as another?

By that logic, Ridley could go out and make a PG film about pink, flying bunnies that time travel to the age of the dinosaurs and eat them all and as long as it's in the same universe as the Alien franchise, despite having nothing whatsoever to do with the storyline, would be a prequel to Alien.

That makes no sense. A sequel is a follow up on the first story. A prequel is a film that depicts the events that lead into said story.

Aliens is a sequel to Alien because it continues right where Alien left off and is following up on Ripley's character and what happened on LV-426 in the previous film.

Prometheus shares none of the same characters, creatures, ships, and is not even on the same planet as Alien. And at the end, doesn't tie into Alien. So, not a prequel (yet).

Even X-men Origins: Wolverine shares the same character(s) as the rest of the franchise. Prometheus doesn't.

makes me think, are there other type of "prequels" that are not really prequels but happen on the same universe? I Can't really think of any right now,

As long as there's some connective tissue to the story, yes. A pink bunny movie could be an Alien prequel.

noomi is hawt. no doubt about that.

but sadly, in this movie...you can barely picture shaw as *** material.

vickers on the other hand has more potential.

the ALIEN franchise is so fakkked up on both ends. this prequel and the colonial marines sequel.

It's not even a prequel. It doesn't tie into Alien.

It is a prequel to Alien. Just not a direct prequel. But it's 100% one.

I think it's obvious a lot of people in this thread have absolutely no idea what a prequel is. It doesn't have to tie directly into the movie it precedes. It just has to take place BEFORE the events in the movie it precedes.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a prequel, but it doesn't end where the first X-Men films starts.

A lot of prequels don't.

Because that's not some standard that has to be adhered to in order for a movie (or any work for that matter) to qualify as a prequel.

Anyone who doesn't think Prometheus is a prequel to Alien doesn't understand the meaning of the word. :lol

Prometheus is like Alien's inbred toothless cousin that always shows up at family reunions looking for some action. Prequel or not. If Ridley wants to make another film in the universe of Alien (or Bladerunner XD :lol) he better bring the same spirit he brought to those films or it's a waste of time... Lindeloaf or not. This movie wasn't horrible on it's own, but a horrible letdown compared to the quality I was expecting from Ridley.

When Charlize isn't trying to look like a bitter lesbian, she's alright but every year she sheds more of her femininity. Noomi's has a softness that's attractive, she just needs to lay off the muscle mass.

Alien series was screwed since Cameron made them bugs
Prometheus is the only canon one besides Alien and Blade Runner. Colonial Marines is alternate reality fanfiction : )

Ridley Scott, "Prometheus has the DNA of Alien, but none of the subsequent Alien Films"

Aliens was a big budget multi-million dollar hit made by industry professionals. Stick that in your bun and puff it!

Soooooooo? Still means the Queen/suicidal bugs nonsense isn't canon :)
Ridley and Giger seem to view it as an alternate reality
the Cameronverse
Alien creature's supposed to be the perfect self sustaining bioengineered viral organism
male and female is utter nooooooooooooonsense
deal :) :)

The whole thing is ridiculous but whatever they do they gotta do well. Aliens was a damn good flick and 20 times the movie Prometheus was. Scott needs turn this thing around next prequel-sequel. Plenty of directors keep making movies long past their prime and I hope Scott figures this thing out before he approaches hack levels. Hasn't anyone learned from the bubbling froth of talent that was Lucas?

Oh Aliens is an amazing film (not as good as Prometheus obviously)
I just view it with a separate mindset when watching

Either it's a generation gap or it's head trauma. Either way, one of us is going to need an aspirin!
