Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I'm so fine with not having Alien Aliens in this movie.

I would rather remember them for what they were....not what they are now...cockroaches that get destroyed by stupid Predators.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Common knowledge, but that doesn't change the fact that there IS an Alien Queen in the Alien mythos. So if you're going to do a prequel/quasi-prequel then you better make sure it lines up with the other official & established movies in the series. If not, then you get a HUGE piece of crap like AVP.

There is a queen...but, since it's now canon, the Alien can also reproduce via turning hosts into eggs without a queen. It's in the Alien Director's Cut.

It was released in theaters, so you cant say it doesnt count. :lecture

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I'm not thrilled with the
finding the alien artifacts in Africa plotline. Seems very contrived to have to tie it all in with Earth.

In fact, I think I liked the plot a lot better when
it was supposed to be more from the engineers' points of view, and that all the characters were of that space jockey species. I thought that particular plot was also leading towards having one of the scientists seeing the horror they were unleashing, packing up a ship with all the eggs and flying away on a one way trip to try and destroy the eggs. He knew he was already infected and sacrificed himself to get rid of the aliens. The end shot would be the derelict ship that had crash landed.
This new plot line seems a little more conventional. But I'm sure Ridley can make it work.
Eh, it makes the Jockey's seem so weak.

I like to think of them as Gods, ya know? So advanced, so powerful, very cruel...
They'd be as far ahead of Predators as Predators are of us.

I love the whole "Humans being created by Jockeys" idea, but I don't want all the mystery behind the Jockeys to be revealed in this movie. The mystery is part of what makes them seem so powerful, god-like, etc.

When I think of the Jockeys, I think of like.. The ultimate beings. One of the only ancient, incredibly powerful Alien races still alive.

Gosh, it's so exciting thinking about them. :lol

Eggmorphing > Queen

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Well, they're not Predators....

They're scientists we know nothing about. We dont know if they were cruel, or nice, or neutral. There is no offical information about them other then the 3 facts...

It was a pilot.

It got chestbursted.

It crashed.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

You misunderstood.

I'm just saying this is how -->I<-- picture them.

I'm not saying I want them to be like Predators.. I'm saying they'd be SO advanced that Predators would seem like ants to them.

The creatures that know the answer to everything, the ultimate race.. Formed not long after the Universe became. :drool

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Yeah but....you're misunderstanding how you picture them...:lol

Considering one got chestbursted, it's obviously not that ultimate of a race....it's baby was.

Okay, I get what you're saying....

Argh.... Erm....

shut up :lol

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Actually you can, because it doesn't count. Only the official versions of movies are considered canon. That's why the Alien from the 3rd movie is referred to as the "Dog" Alien and not the "Ox" Alien. Deleted scenes, director cuts, etc. regardless if they're shown in a theater or added to a DVD aren't canon. Just like alternate endings (even if they're seen in a theater) aren't canon.

And just so we're clear: I'm not talking about teh Ali3NZ fan fiction that's passed off as canon. Because that ____ is just as stupid and irrelevant as teh PR3dATURDz fan fiction with all that yaujta or whatever garbage.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Devil have you seen Predators yet? I think you'd like it.

Still excited about this movie with or without alien(s) in it. It just sucks that the franchise has been raped that hard that there's no saving it.
I love aliens but now kinda hate it because it was the beginning of the end for the franchise.

:lol:lol:lol

I was actually more excited when it was announced that Scott was just going to do an original Sci-Fi movie. That excitement dies a little every time something Alien-related gets brought up regarding this movie.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Still extremely excited to see this but..
I'm a little worried about the fact that they might start trying to explain the meaning of life.

It's going to be interesting to say the least. :lol

I fond it a bit stupid that it's not an alien movie but it's in the alien universe. I know it started out as an alien flick and evolved into a newer bigger idea and the alien is no longer a part of it apparently. Why even say it's in the universe it occupies. To me it's like saying " were doing a new batman movie but unfortunately we have written batman out and all the associated villains and doing a movie that is set in Gotham city, but with no batman or his enemies".
All I can say is if it's based around the "universe" we've seen from the other movies, get ready for a ____ load of corridor scenes lol

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I would take a Gotham Cental film, but many of the villians and even Batman did factor slightly into the comic run.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

It IS an Alien movie, they just won't admit it.

If there are Aliens in it, it is an Alien movie...
It's already been said that there will be ALIENS that have BIRTHED from a SPACE JOCKEY at the end of the movie.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

It's not that they wont admit it.
ALIEN was a small story, a haunted house in space.
This one is a whole different animal (don't expect (big) corridor scares (with big creatures) until the end of the climax of the movie).
Scott wanted to top Avatar in terms of scale.
Titling it PROMETHEUS is a smart move by Scott.
Fox would never had given the cash he wanted to make an official Alien Prequel they almost backed out until he pitched them the concept of having it taking place in the same universe but being a whole new story, that will in some way ties to the Nostromo story but also have i'ts own future.
Fans get another pov of that universe and non fans get a new weird universe to discover.
Would you have prefered a cheapened Alien prequel wich would have ended up as a disguised remake like it was going to be before Scott got in.
Another quick cash for FOX who would have been no better that the AVP.
Now we get an big epic and ambitious scifi movie and related in some way to ALIEN.
Color me happy.

I don't think both concepts contradict each others.
I think that the're animals who can mutate to both male and female if needed.
Could be the same for the xenomorph.
When not a queen or stranded, it could still produce some eggs using other creatures.

Since it's in the Director's Cut of the movie directed by the guy who started it all as much as i looooooooove ALIENS i will definitly stick to Scott's description of the creature habits for the moment.

It is an Alien movie though... If there was a movie that had Predaliens in it, would it not still be an Alien movie?

I think people are getting tired and annoyed with the Alien franchise because of the AvP movies... So that's why they aren't saying it's an Alien movie, when it clearly is. Tis basically the origins of them, which involves a new creature that we've actually briefly seen in the first movie.

If there were NO Xenomorphs in it, then it could not be an Alien movie. But there are. And it's about them, and the Jockeys... It's an Alien movie.

Nope. It sucked way before that. Alien Resurrection killed that franchise.

If anything, AVP jump started interest back up for both the Alien and Predator franchise because of its worldwide success at the box office.

I agree resurrection was terrible and should not have been made. Even the aliens looked shat in that movie.

The AvP movies did spark alot of interest but failed on a epic proportion

Is Prometheus still going to be a two parter?
