Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I love how they keep calling it an "original science fiction epic". Ever since Fox and Ridley came out and said that it's no longer associated with the ALIEN franchise, all leaked information has been to the contrary.
:lol
"It's not an Alien Prequel anymore. Although it is a Prequel to Ridley's movie, Alien." :lol

This and The Hobbit are going to be the leetest, epicest movies of all time!

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Interesting spoilers, if they're true. But considering the hack who's writing it, I won't surprised if the ship crashes, bad things happen and in the end we find out it's all meaningless because they've been dead the whole time...

C'mon Ridley, don't let us down...

I think that there are going to be a lot of people who will be disappointed with this movie. I think that if this movie doesn't do well it will probably be the end of the alien franchise.

No it's not it's still good, it's still good. (putting fingers in my ears) la la la if I can't hear you it's not true

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Ok.........please explain.

Spoilers for anyone not wanting to know anything (real or fake) about this flick. And keep in mind, this is taking into account the mythologies that are already established in the Alien universe with the 4 movies in the franchise.

PLOT POINT:
These “Alien Gods” also terraformed Earth in order to make
it habitable for their human creations.

PROBLEM:
Dinosaurs and other species (that still exist) were here on Earth before humans i.e. they lived in the same exact environment we're currently living in i.e. the idea that this planet had to be terraformed specifically for us makes absolutely no sense.

PLOT POINT:
They unleash on the escaping human crew their favorite bio-weapon, a creature used to “clean up” worlds before colonization.

PROBLEM:
The idea that Aliens are a Bio-Weapon i.e. they were genetically engineered goes against the whole idea set up in the current mythos of them having a Queen that lays eggs and them as a whole functioning with a hive mind.

PLOT POINT:
But something goes wrong in the process and humans manage to turn the bio-weapon against their makers. Giving birth to a smarter, nastier, bigger breed of gut eating creatures.
PROBLEM:
If THAT'S what gives "Birth" to the Aliens we know from the Alien franchise then the next part..

"What’s left of the Prometheus crew manages to escape the doomed alien planet. On their trail a survivor Alien God on a familiar ship with an ultimate mission. Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth."

..also makes zero sense. That last surviving Space Jockey is supposed to be the one we see in Alien on LV-426. The ship he's on HAS eggs on it. That Space Jockey has also had an Alien in it (evidenced by its ripped open ribcage). But that Alien couldn't have anything to do with the eggs on the ship because that supposed plot outline says that the Space Jockey already had them on-board i.e. "Bring the wrath of the Gods to Earth". Yet those eggs SPAWN the Aliens we're all familiar with. So that's one ginormagantic plot hole.

My guess, that "leaked" plot outline is some fanboys wet dream.

Hmm interesting. You make some very valid points. Some can be easily explained. Like them being bio engineered so it defeats the purpose of the queen. From the plot we have we engineer them to be bigger and meaner maybe we made them to be able to procreate on their own. Maybe what we engineer wad a queen and sent it to them to ____ them up. That would also explain why they have a ship full of eggs. The alien that was born from the jockey might not have survived the crash that's why it's not there when the crew of the nostromo find the derelict and thats why they don't find it because it's long dead.
The only real plot hole that's hard to explain is the dinosaurs maybe the jockeys put them there to test our faith lol

If this is being written by the guy who wrote lost them this synopsis makes absolute sense and there are no plot holes at all. Because lost made complete sense

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Eh, they can easily find ways around those problems you mentioned...

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

totally agree, those so-called problems are easily addressed.

for example, who's to say they can't have terraformed earth way before the era of the dinosaurs? while they just let other species develop according to natural evolution, the conditions they created were really meant for human habitation...

personally, i love this treatment and hope this is real. it sounds exciting and refreshing.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Guys there will be no alien per se in this movie.
Not the alien design we know.
The whole it's not an ALIEN movies is because the licence is dead in the water, so the big idea is to start a new one using the same universe.
Fans will recognize the universe, but general moviegoers will discovers all new things (ie the space jockey aka Engineers in the script wich will be a giant suit/ animatronic enchanced by CGI).
There will be proto version of facehuggers, or even before proto-facehuggers and also one or several big (space jockey big) proto xenomorph creatures.

From what i've heard 70% of the fake synopsis is right.
Some scene or concept are misplaced (The PROMETHEUS ship might be an alien spaceship found dormant with a space jockey in it discovered either on earth or another planet) and the end is wrong, the movie won't tie to ALIEN in that way.
Too easy.

The leaked pics are definitly those of an alien spaceship, previous pics showed an entrance in stone, that gave acess to this second biomechanoid door. It's an old spaceship hidden in some caves on earth or another planet. Probably that ship is the one piloted by enormous head like previous leaked infos stated.

I think the humans will be on a planet exploring it and discover this site, make contact with the space jockey who take them into his ship then make them discover his homeworld.

BTW the alien queen is a concept brought by Cameron in ALIENS, Scott had the eggs created from any lifeform by a xenomorph ie the deleted scene from ALIEN where Ripley discover Dallas mutated into an egg begging for mercy.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I'm not thrilled with the
finding the alien artifacts in Africa plotline. Seems very contrived to have to tie it all in with Earth.

In fact, I think I liked the plot a lot better when
it was supposed to be more from the engineers' points of view, and that all the characters were of that space jockey species. I thought that particular plot was also leading towards having one of the scientists seeing the horror they were unleashing, packing up a ship with all the eggs and flying away on a one way trip to try and destroy the eggs. He knew he was already infected and sacrificed himself to get rid of the aliens. The end shot would be the derelict ship that had crash landed.

This new plot line seems a little more conventional. But I'm sure Ridley can make it work.

Common knowledge, but that doesn't change the fact that there IS an Alien Queen in the Alien mythos. So if you're going to do a prequel/quasi-prequel then you better make sure it lines up with the other official & established movies in the series. If not, then you get a HUGE piece of crap like AVP.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I actually kind of like the idea that Aliens were engineered as a bio-weapon, but evolved into their own species, perhaps were a bit too gifted and evolved overnight. Since Aliens needed a host to cocoon into an egg, its possible that when they ran out Nostromo Crewman, the Aliens change their sex and lay their own eggs(just like in Jurassic Park), with the more rudimentary hugger form to carry on the genome/species.

For all we know that could have all taken place on the Space Jockey ship and the Queen has since passed on and maybe even was consumed by others in the hive before dying. We don't know how much of the Jockey ship was actually explored in Alien nor if a Queen couldn't have simply moved to a differant location in a cave somewhere near the ship. Theres alot of room for Ridley to "re-write" the origins here.
