Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Yes. But obviously...they were not trained to fight the Aliens. As they have never ever, been encountered before, except in Alien..and maybe Prometheus.

Maybe they killed some Alien thing before. No biggie. But THE Aliens? Sorry Marines. Yer dead.
Hey, they were encountered in Gunnison Colorado in 2007. :lol

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I think it's hombres..not embrace..and as for them being able to handle anything...they all died.

Anyway, I forgot about these lines..

Ferro: She's supposed to be some kinda consultant. Apparently she saw an alien once.
Hudson: Whoopee-____in'-do. Hey, I'm impressed.

Clearly you are that dense or trying to be an ******. :lol

That whole line proves your argument is not valid. The Marines are making fun of her! As if saying been there done that. How this escapes you is beyond me. :dunno

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Right. Nobody's arguing that. The "300 surveyed worlds" comment pretty much seals that deal.

Exactly. This creature hadn't been recorded in over 300 surveyed worlds.

First of all, why are you being such a ____ing *********? Have I said one offensive thing to you? No, I don't think so you mother ____ing piece of ____ing garbage.

It's beyond you because you're a ____ing stuck-up, douchey moron.

Based on the atmosphere of the entire god damn franchise..I'm shocked that Cameron was going for some stupid lesser Star Wars-like future.

I'm not the only one who has interpreted it differently..and it makes complete sense. I gave completely reasonable and obvious explanations, and that's how I have always seen the franchise.

Bug hunt just always came across as, well, the definition I gave in previous posts..same for the other terms/lines.

As for this latest Ferro: She's supposed to be some kinda consultant. Apparently she saw an alien once.
Hudson: Whoopee-____in'-do. Hey, I'm impressed.
issue, how the hell can that only be interpreted as him making fun of her because he's apparently witnessed several aliens? Maybe if you're an extremely ignorant, narrow-viewed idiot...

Hudson is a goofy, strange character. He says goofy, strange things.
This just seemed like one of them..or most likely, him highly doubting she saw anything. Thinking she's crazy or somthing. There's not just one way to interpret this stuff..the whole atmosphere and feel of the movies would lead you to think that we've never come in contact with intelligent life, or anything more dangerous than what we have on Earth.

But really? You're going to pull out your little douchey, snide remarks because I am questioning this?
God, some of you internet pricks really piss me off.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I guess dense was the correct assumption. Sorry, I thought you were just trying to be an ass on purpose. Again my apologies. :lecture

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Xenomorph = Alien in my book. I always took morph to be specific to this particular species, if indeed the marines had seen other species before, because morph means that the gestating 'burster would take on the characteristics of its host.

Alien = Kane's son, was oddly homoerotic, especially considering his huge phallic head and the fact that he emerged from the most effeminate character in the film, then goes on to basically rape Brett, although that was changed for the final cut, and the creature seems to be raping Lambert, but it's actually footage of Brett.

I'll stop now, and... :chase

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Okay guys let's take it down a notch. Part of the fun of movies can be taking what they give you and using that to interpret it the way you want. When I watch Blade Runner Deckard is a human in my mind because the movie doesn't 100% spell it out otherwise and I just think its better that way. I'm pretty sure Ridley Scott has flat out stated that he is but I don't care because I let the movie speak for itself.

In my mind Aliens always presented a universe with the occassional "bug" threat and I think that's cool but if it ruins the movie for you just dismiss that notion and assume otherwise. Its not like the dismissive comments about aliens and arcturians are the focus of the film anyway.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I absolutely love Ridley's response here:

EGE: Final question. I have a feeling what the answer will be, but many want to know. Will we see the original xenomorph in Prometheus?

RS: No. Absolutely not. They squeezed it dry. He (the xenomorph) did very well. (He laughs) He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

It's a spaceship with a basement full of Aliens. Space Jockey died of a facehugger/chest-burster. The math isn't hard. We're going to see some variation of THE alien. Maybe a bit taller or fatter or something, but there will be an Alien.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

There will be Aliens. Just not THE Aliens.
Several months ago someone spotted the original, Giger-designed Alien suit(s) on set...I guess they could have just mistook it for somthing else...Jockey-bursted Xenos perhaps, which I also remember reading were going to for sure be at the end of the movie..

Seems like a lot has changed since those earlier articles I read though, so who knows..
