LOL! He sounded very specific though didn't he? He even repeats it. Someone says what, his reply in a frustrated tone almost simply says "a Xenomorph".

Guaranteed if you asked the director, writer, whoever, they would take my side on this one.

It's a dumb name and it is not the name of the Aliens. Period.

I really don't understand why you think he was talking about somthing else... I mean, it's just so obviously a name specifically for them, or a name for an alien in general.

As CelticP said, "He just used the term as a way to best describe what it could be.".. Xenomorph...

And they have Ripley's entire report there that describes the Alien..How it drastically grows and changes shape/color within the 24 hours (or however long) it was on the Nostromo.

And there's nothing "dumb" about it, nothing at all.
It's pretty much their name now, and has been for several years whether you like it or not.
Get over it, damn....

The more I see of this the more it seems to be in line with the detailed plot "leak" presumed to be fake some time back.

If it does line up with that give him an A+ for originality. It will truly be epic.

Giger has designed a lot of twisted sh-t over the years. They could use any number of his concepts in place of "the" alien. But the alien is going to be in it.

Scott can lie all day long about it, but he is rebooting a franchise. He has to have the franchise star.

It's not going to be THE Alien.

And this film, is a prequel, but isn't an Alien film. It's in the same universe, and about The Space Jockey.

It's really this simple. The Alien itself has no name. It has no name because it has never been seen or "been recorded before." This gives the entire ____ing franchise meaning. No one knows what it is or how to stop it. By assuming Gorman's naming of Xenomorph is correct one can only make the assumption that it has been encountered before and taken care of. Which it wasnt.

It was used in Aliens. It was a term used by Gorman to describe a creature he thought he would be facing. He was wrong.
