Laugh it up, Miller. Laugh it up.

____ing fail. Get that piece of ____ out of here.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Yeah but Aliens takes place 57 years later!!! What's to say these marines have never encountered this type of Alien before the film? Aside from the company being portrayed as having no prior knowledge.

Which they did have! :panic:

Because no one encountered Aliens again until Aliens.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Uh, no.

I will say this for the millionth time...

BASED ON THE ATMOSPHERE of the entire franchise, the fear the Xenomorph brought, etc..The fact that there are (according to Cameron) other intelligent races, and Alien species deadlier than anything what we have on Earth (enough to have a team of Marines drop in and battle them..) makes almost no sense.

It just doesn't fit with the franchise. It takes away the fear the Xenomorph brought.

And each comment made by the characters "It's a bug hunt", etc..could EASILY be interpreted the other way, and would make MUCH MORE SENSE to be interpreted that way considering, once again, the atmosphere and vibe of the movies..

So you didn't "school" me on ____...and that whole issue plays an incredibly minute part in "understanding the movie harhar".

"In Space No One Can Hear You Scream"...apparently its actually "In Space, Arcturians, Giant Bugs And Other Various Alien Species We Like To Get "********" From...can hear you scream"

LT, you're not making any sense dude.
If the CM's had encountered aliens like the ones they do encounter, why would they need Ripley for? She's being taken along precisely because the company fears that what she said is true, that the life-form she described might actually exist and have caused serious trouble in Hadley's Hope.
For ____'s sake, the whole point is that no one had ever encountered beings like these before, the CM's were completely unprepared for them. How you cannot grasp this is beyond me. :dunno
Another thing, there is no mention of ever having encountered intelligent life out there either. Or anything so terribly dangerous that a squad of CM's couldn't handle. They thought they were going to shoot the equivalent of brown bears or tigers.

Again, if they had encountered such aliens before, why would they need Ripley? Why would they go in without knowledge of what they were up against? Why the surprise at everything the aliens did?
I just don't understand how you guys can even argue about this.

Because no one encountered Aliens again until Aliens.

..okay, you misunderstood. I never said the Colonial Marines had encountered the Xenomorphs before...

When I said bugs, I wasn't talking about Giger's Aliens. You guys were saying that they have obviously encountered a very dangerous bug-like alien life form before due to the whole "Bug Stompers, We Endanger Species" logo and some various lines....If it's dangerous enough to require the aid of Colonial Marines, it's definitely more dangerous than any creature on Earth.

And the inteligent life thing came from the "Arcturian ********" comment..if that's not intelligent life, what is it? They're ____ing alien animals?

I was not saying that they have encountered the Xenomorphs, Giger's Aliens..before.

Basically, the guy was calling me a ******* for not automatically assuming that they had encountered various dangerous/intelligent alien species before, based on the whole "bug hunt", "bug stompers" and "arcturian" thing..my response was that, that is not the only way you could interpret what they were saying.

It's confusing. :lol

Ah, I see, sorry for the misunderstanding!

But yes, I do think they have found very dangerous life-forms out there, just not this dangerous.
As for the Arcturian poon-tang, well, to be quite honest, I figured it was Arcturian sheep. Or maybe they have bizarre brothels on Arcturus, who knows?
Kinda like, "I wouldn't mind getting me some of that Pattaya ********..."

That's what I've always thought as well..but according to some, I'm a ******* for thinking so. Because it's just oh so obvious that they're some other intelligent alien species.
I always assumed it was just some specific group of Humans, some type of prostitutes like you said..etc.

I have no problem with them finding dangerous alien creatures, but not stuff on Starship Trooper level..just stuff equal (or slightly stronger/smarter) to what we have on Earth. If it goes much further than that, it starts to take away what the Xenomorph..err..Alien..err...Pen!s heads bring. They just won't seem as important, as theatening, etc..

@CelticP

Acheron, yes. It's this mythical river filled with dead souls located in Hades, or the Underworld or somthing..that's where the whole "Linguafoeda Acheronsis" thing comes in. It means "Foul Tongue of Acheron".

I suppose the Arcturians could just be the Humans on Acheron..

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Can we agree that the Marines never faced the Aliens before?

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Yes. They never, ever, ever did.

That's why none of them had any idea what Gorman said.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

They're animals man!

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Indeed. He just used the term as a way to best describe what it could be.

"Strange Shape".

And that name has since stuck as the semi official name of the Alien.

LOL! He sounded very specific though didn't he? He even repeats it. Someone says what, his reply in a frustrated tone almost simply says "a Xenomorph".

Guaranteed if you asked the director, writer, whoever, they would take my side on this one.

It's a dumb name and it is not the name of the Aliens. Period. :lecture

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

On a side note, the exclusive trailer will be released on Apple on Thursday.
